Underpainting with complementary or near-complementary colours adds such a cool effect
Everyone: Here's a awesome kit from GW let's build and paint it, then we can do final reveal
Pete: Here's a awesome kit from GW ...... let's make it better by hacking it up!
Love it
Thematically "better," yes (this is of course subjective), but with a nob-sized arm and head on a warboss-sized body... it's objectively a bit wonky.
@@lazerhosen Wonky is about right for a Freebootah.
@@lazerhosen Body he used is fine, most warboss models are just nobz with straight postures, or as of recently, as big as the whole model. Fits fine IMO
@@flauntingfloof Yeah, I just set up my metal warboss, a plastic warboss, a metal nob, and a plastic nob next to some boyz... and they're all telling me that you're a liar.
Warbosses are scaled up significantly, but on a bigger base, so in pictures they look similar in size. I can 100% assure you that warbosses are/have been siginificantly bigger than nobz since 3rd edition 40k and still currently are.
@@flauntingfloof Uh... I just set up a metal and plastic Warboss, a metal and plastic Nob, and some boyz next to each other for size comparison... and they all told me you're lying.
There is like a 30% jump in size for each tier... which is fitting with the lore.
Warboss shoulders are a head above Nob shoulders my dude. In GW pictures they look similarly sized because the bases are bigger too.
I cant help but think that Capitan Iron-Hanz really loves his squig like how we love dogs.
I’d love to see someone put this snakebite guy on the giant squig or even a squigoth from forge world 🤣
That would be awesome!
@@PeteTheWargamer could you make a Vampire Coast Depth Guard ?
I never thought I'd say this about anything ork related, especially a squig, but, That is the most beautiful paint job I've ever seen
Idk man squigs are pretty cool
Man, I’ve had a really shit day. Glad I’ve got this to relax to. Thanks for what you do, Pete.
Hope your day improves man :)
Sorry to hear that! But I'm glad my hacking up bits of plastic has helped a little 🙂
Aye bruh it really do be like that sometimes. Hope it eventually goes over smoothly
Wow, this is amazing! Definitely going to try and adopt some of the techniques you showed off here. Absolutely stunning model!
Oh maaaan... This is giving me MAD flashbacks to my old Ork army... Blood-Axe Orcs 'inspired' by WW2 Russians - Yes, thats right! COMMIE ORKS! :P
But specifically, this video brought back memories of all the conversion work I did for my Warboss - I had a standard Metal Warboss figure, then I sculpted over almost everything with greens-stuff, giving him a Power-Claw for a left hand (And a fancy Slugga for a pistol instead of the full-size shoota). I covered almost the entire body with an orky version of a 'Great Coat' and even stuck a fancy 'peaked cap' on his noggin!
And thus, Jagrof Snarlin, the "Grand Kommisar fer WAAAAGH!" was born! :P
There were some other fun things in that army... Like my "ferst komandos" who were all sporting spiffy Red Berets, And my "Battlewagon" that was converted from a Tiger Tank kit...
Ahh, good times...
~JD
Very cool! One idea to push the "parrot squig" theme even further perhaps would've been to add a few decorative feathers to the harness.
I wanna get into minis, starting with blue/purple orcs and parrot squigs, been really into modding/custom paint jobs.
Would've liked to see it shark themed
@@janschmitt1351 that's another very good color scheme idea
Conversion Idea: Get the new kill rig and have the beast snaggas capture a carnifex to pull it instead of the rhino squig. (Also convert beast snaggas to have tyranid chitin armour)
@@HyprHotshot it might not be lore accurate but would still look cool!
But I would argue Ork mek boys plus Waagh energy could over rule the hive mind for individual Tyranids. This is the orks were talking about!
@@thedoyle3929hell, all it would take is enough boyz to believe that they *could* control a 'nid carnifex and poof! By the glory or Gork and Mork, they *would* be able to control the carnifex!
Never tell orks that something is impossible! WAAUUGGH!
Awe, this is by far one of my favorite kitbashes I have seen to date. This honestly gets me hyped to work on my own freebooters, I haven't truly worked on mine since about the middle of 8th edition. Truly spectacular Pete!!!
Oh, that diesel cyber-squig is beyond amazing
Another kitbash, excellent!
Thank you!
Pete, that's a beauty. Your conversion skills are top-notch, but that paintjob's pretty damn sweet.
I'm working on a Tyrant Guard with an Imperial Guardsman using a Laser Cannon to play as a Krootox. So this is some nice inspiration. Thanks. :)
That is the coolest mount/t-rex shard i've ever seen holy smokes!
I love the parrot colors for the squig idea, really creative 👍🏼
This came out amazing! It actually also made me think of how wild it would be to do a version of this with a Freebooter gang of squig riders but they're done up like various sharks. Some closer to actual sharks and others just "orked up" to look like sharks such as metal fins and pseudo bionic eyes on repurposed nob claws to look like a hammerhead shark and wild things like that.
Yar har fiddley-dee, being a pirate is alright with me!! Your work is amazing!!
Take a break if you need to, we'll always be here when you get back.
He looks more like a dinosaur now! Great Job!
Hell yeah Pete, not only is your kitbashing master level, you've really outdone yourself with this paintjob.
Great to see another vid from you Pete! It's been a while. No need to appologise for your absence though. We all need a break sometimes, it's totally understandable!
Would love to see you back a battle patrol of Freebooters.
Just beautiful dude. You accomplished what GW wanted and I will be picking this model up to attempt to do what you’ve done here🤣🤣
So happy you made a video out of this, just about fell out of my chair when I saw this on warcom
Arrrrr... Mighty nice Captain! Makes sense given the mount looks so sharky 🦈
The vibrant colours and colour theory are fantastic - more of this style would be fabulous
Glad you liked it, more to come 😁
Wow. This is an amazing conversion of a really nice model. Well done, Pete the Waaagh'amer.
Haha, maybe I should change my name for these kind of videos 😂
YAARR BOYZ, NEW PETE VIDYO! AND HE’S BUILDERIN’ ORKS!!!
When I saw this on Warhammer Community, I was in awe! So glad to see the video behind the work, keep it up Pete!
Yeah I saw warcom first and came here to see it done. Very cool conversion and great that GW recognized that.
I'd love to see some more vampire coast kit bashes
I was looking at Warhammer Community this morning and this model! Great work!
One of the best conversions
That is quite possibly the most gorgeous model I've ever seen you paint.
Love the pants, I'd not have thought of that
Great kitbash. Keep em coming! Especially the orks, always fun to watch.
Glad you like them! Orks are very conversion ready and once their full range has been released we'll probably see me tackle more of them.
When I first read the article put out on Warhammer community that this model was a part of, yours and Vince's were my favourites. I now have to try and figure out a way to let both jobs influence what I do. Thank you for the awesome video as always, I feel yet another step closer to trying my hand at conversion for the first time. Thank you for continuing to enrich this colourful community!
glad you had the model and made him into a FreeBoota Kaptin
When I saw it in the article I thought wow!
Knocked this one out of the park fair play!
Wow awesome Freebooter Captain! 👍
Brilliant model! Missed opportunity for a shark themed squig.
This just looks fantastic!
Thank you!
So glad you finally did some orks!
I just gotta say Pete, your kitbashing has inspired me greatly and has gotten me into that part of the hobby. But the paint job on this model is just mindblowing!
Absolutely fantastic job. I LOVE the use of the purple undertone for green skin.
So the thumbnail made me giggle because when I saw this featured I said out loud "That's one of the best paint jobs I've ever seen." And I will 100% be taking inspiration from you when I get mine
Oh my gosh!!!!!!! Absolutely loved this video and model!!!!!
Honestly this makes me wanna convert the hell out of the beastsnagga models! how dare thee put this ideas into my mind!
This is most impressive! Love the idea of the parrot color scheme! Reversing it was really striking!
That’s such an amazing paintjob!
Loved this colour scheme it is so awsome !! can only think a slightly brighter highlight for the orc face would have been the final touch
I saw this bad boy first war the warcom site and didn't connect your name to your channel..... ughhhh. simply brilliant.... This is going to be my first forray into a heavy Orktober... Love the content as always. Cheers.
Very cool : )
I particularly like the purple green orc skin
B-E-A-Utiful paintjob. Wish i could do something like this
Ey now is the perfect time for a T'au kitbash as they're the next KT box!
Wow, that skin painting technique is fantastic. Using a sneaky purple as the shadows to the darker greens really looks amazing!
Wow bro amazing. Those blues are magic
Absolutely awesome! Excellent job!
Just incredible Pete! Fantastic Job!
Looks epic, great job Pete!
Stunning artwork!
It's... bloody amazing, man.
Amazing result!
neat as always! i love your conversions.
Great conversion as always, also glad to have you back! looking forward to whatevers coming next.
this looks incredible, but I would have painted the squig like a shark
Funnily enough, that's how the squig is normally painted
@@AlexJohnson-su6lp oh cool!
Wow dude this conversion and the paint job looks so awesome! I followed your content for a couple of years now and I think you really pushed yourself to a level I can only hope to achieve one day too. Keep going!
Awesome. It looks so good.
Glad i'm not the only one who uses purple with ork skin
Saw this guy on the Warhammer community site earlier. Amazing color and theme keep it up.
Fantastic work here! The purple works so well under the green. Awesome job mate
Thank you!
Brilliant choice of colors and a stunning result. It's a joy to see!
Incredible, mate! Well done.
Definitely one of your best work so far. Keep it up!
This is really awesome! I think you should make his FORST MAIGHT riding a great white shark themed squig
Fantastic video, Pete! Really loved it. Incredible paint job, as well!
I've often walked past Games Workshop and marvelled at the detail on the painted models and it's incredible to see it done. That's a great paint job. Don't know why this video was I my suggestions but I'm glad it was. Thanks 👍🏼
Thats the best paint job you've done so far! Well done!
Amazing as always!
This is amazing! Definitely the best model you have done! Keep it up
Incredible conversion job Pete and love the paint job great work.
So gnaaarrrrly dude! I keep coming back to this video for inspiration. Thank you mate. 🤙🏼
Daaaaayyyum that is one fine lookin' ork! 🤘
Absolutely stunning work. I love the unusual colors you chose for the squig.
yes!!!! been waiting for you to do some orks for ages now and i love it! great job Pete!
He came out really awesome man! Nice work!
Dude, that’s an incredible conversion and paint job!
this looks incredible defiantly one of my favorites
Amazing work! 👏
Love it! This was exactly what I had in mind when I first saw the kit. Thanks for bringing it to life so I can copy your ideas ;)
Love me a good Ork model and mate you did a outstanding job with this one
I've always been in awe of your painting style, and I think I understood one part of it with this video - using the contrasting color as a shadow/shade for the primary color - works brilliantly on especially the skin and the engine - great stuff!
Thank you and I'm glad that I was able to effectively convey my method. It requires a bit of experimentation with some colours, like with the green on the engine block, the colour theory is pretty powerful when used right.
This look just amazing 🤩🤩
Beatiful job! That dark silver looks SO smooth, I'll give it a try!
fantastic paintjob and conversion!
Really good video, wish you had given the squiq a sharks fin and painted it as a great white shark squig
This looks fantastic, great idea to have him as a freeboota, conversion looks awesome and paintjob is great!
I stumbled across watered-down orange for a rust effect, on my wight king
really cool seeing someone else use a similar technique here
Love it! The parrot color scheme was ingenious! Keep up the good work!
