I don’t care if the band changes their sound. I agree Dissonants was their peak. But I’ll keep listening no matter what.
Artists are like all of us. People’s tastes change. Don’t expect them to stay the same when they’ve been putting out music for over 10 years

Conversely don't expect me to support uninspired music or buy a ticket to a show. It's more of a give and take between the fans and artists than most people would like to admit.

Stumbled over Trenton's description of Fountainhead (2013) and just found it so relevant "Fans expect albums to cater to their personal taste and never grow or vary... often with little respect for the artist's own SPACE..."
Unlike most, I actually like the song. If Hands Like Houses want to continue down this path, I will support them. I just hope that Hopeless isn't meddling behind the scenes like what Fueled by Ramen did to ONE OK ROCK.
That last One Ok Rock record on FBR was so damn disappointing. Such a bummer.
Agreed, the production alone is amazing and honestly it doesn't sound all that much different from their previous work. It doesn't shock me that this is Hands Like Houses. Like you want to listen to a band who did a complete 180 multiple time listen to Hundredth. Anyway really love this song and sonically it is the benchmark I personally want to strive for with my own band.
The new one ok rock album is supposed to be more rock when it comes out at least that's what sources say but idk
This was actually released under UNFD, not Hopeless Records. I think Anon was the only album they put out under Hopeless.
This band has a whole bunch of different sounds but they're flipping amazing!

Until recently I hadn't stopped to imagine how deaf people feel out of place and how they get on with ... expressing feelings.

I liked Headrush but couldn't personally click with it as much as I usually do, but this one is right back there ❤ hearing a lot of people who don't like the chorus being so repetitive, but I feel like it's very much in line with the song, it's kind of like a desperate plea that you keep repeating, almost like a mantra. I can see how this is more 'radio proof' rock but I really don't feel like they're doing it for that reason, that's not who they are. I'm not a music expert so I might not know best regarding to the complexity of the instrumentals, but to me this song has plenty of emotional substance to it. This has already become one of those songs for me that you listen to when you're at your worst and it just allows you to have those feelings fill you up, so you can let them go after. I'm so grateful for the personal stuff they put into this and I have full faith they're just creating in a way that feels right for them, instead of to become more mainstream. HLH has my heart and my support, forever ❤

Better than the last single but the choruses just all seem to sound the same and it’s not overly interesting. The bridges used to always be so fantastic and emotional in the last albums but the new stuff just doesn’t have that same hooking feeling that keeps you interested

So many of these bands became "insert vocalists name here" experience. Where the vocalists do all of the melody and all of the hook and the rest of the band disappears behind synth
Yeaaaaaaaah. Really missing Ground Dweller and Unimagine. They haven't done much of anything technical since then. It feels very general radio-rocky now.

Ryan Taylor meh i can’t get behind that. Why would you support music that doesn’t sound very good anymore? Unimagine and ground dweller were incredible. The lyrical quality and musical composition were far and above and they weren’t really like any other band. Even Dissonants was very good and at one point was my favorite album by them. Don’t like Anon at all or either of their last two singles. It’s poppy and boring and chorusy and not the reason i loved this band to begin with.

this feels like they've been told to radio up their sound for the mainstream as its pretty generic. hopefully the future releases have more of a HLH vibe to them.
I can't express how much better this is in head rush but that chorus disappointed me so much that I almost wish the songdidn't even come out
Better than Headrush, but still too pop-rockish for my liking. Again, the I Prevail or The Word Alive sound would be much more fitting.

Really miss Ground Dweller and Unimagine era sounds from you guys. This new song is not bad, but kinda flat and not as good as your previous works in the aforementioned album. Still better than Headrush, though.

Yeah they went in such a great direction on that album, and haven't been able to recapture the magic.
The only ones that seemed to carry any energy at all since then are Overthinking and Tilt. That's just for me anyway. All their music now is like icing without any decent cake

Really vibing with the new sound. To me everything before dissonants sounded pretty samey to me on a song by song basis but im fine with them wanting to pull mainstream elements as long as they do them well. This is a chill bop for me chief.
Much better than the last single and a solid groove, but still no fire on a hill, spineless crow or i am. Ill have to hear more for a solid opinion i guess.
Remember that time Ground Dweller was this huge genre defying release, with intricate instrumentals and crazy production?
That was this band's first full length. Hard to believe they got it so right at the beginning and haven't even tried to recapture that sense of scale or individuality.
Every release just gets more and more uninteresting.
Unimagine and Dissonants are some of the best albums of all time!
I don't remember that at all. I remember _Ground Dweller_ being a good album, but far from "genre[-]defying," and I remember the production being mediocre at best (which is not a surprise given that it was produced by Cameron Mizell).

Come on guys, at least bring back Dissonants sound, for me, it was the best álbum coming from this band, with a truly unique sound. This single is good, better than the past one, I hope the upcoming álbum sounds more like this than like Headrush and Anon.
I'm back listening to HLH!
Still a huge fan of Groundweller, Unimagine, Dissonants, and hey I even enjoyed most of Anon. I know HLH can bring it, but I can't see myself buying the next album if it sounds like this/Headrush.. I'll still give each new song a chance, HLH have earned that 100x over, but this is giving me new-album-to-prove-themselves-after-songwriter-left vibes :(
I love this song...only the second one I have heard from these guys, with the first being "Monster". But I find the lyrics relatable. I hope someday I can meet a girl who understands this...we can love someone, but we still need space from them. Least my interpretation
Keep experimenting I would like to see surprise from your guy that keep me excite like the first and second album (especially synth and sound design that make your band difference from the others)

My thoughts exactly. They were lyrical geniuses in their first 2 albums and we get 3 words repeated a few times. I don’t mind a style change but some of the new songs really lack the lyrical depth or creativity. And we know they are capable of it because of the older songs

Trent started screaming on Dissonants and the instrumentals got a bit heavier, they started really leaning into metalcore and then they just darted off in the other direction. If this is what they're enjoying now, then good on them but there was no subtle transition LOL. It's like BMTH going from sempiternal straight into amo.
His voice works great for a vibe like this but I feel like the track needed more progression. Still a solid track. I’d like to see them refine it and progress it a bit more tho.

This is still pretty good. I'm happy that HLH is still making music at all and if this is the direction they, as a band, feel like they want to express themselves, all the power to them. I will definitely prefer the first four albums over this, but maybe this new sound of theirs can grow on me the way Anon did. Not too hot on Anon at first, but listening to it as its own monster as opposed to comparing it to its predecessors is what made me grow fond of it.

I've had a hard time getting used to the new sound, but I noticed that if you read the lyrics in the context of their musical decision, it really feels like they just need to do something new creatively, and I want to support this band that I've loved for years.
