This is a great animation for more than just how well it's done. What really makes a great piece of art is how it gets you to think and see your own interpretation. This could be about addiction, this could be about living life to its fullest, this could be about anything you believe it is. And that's the beauty of it.
It could be about how our jobs are mundane and boring and how we can’t wait to leave work, to live a better life. Then the next morning it’s back to the same old job,

I find pairing this one ("Finito") and another animated short called "Clockwork" interesting. They both have the same basic plot: robots work in some vast contraption and some robot(s) get broken, but have very different messages. In "Finito" the workplace is depicted as mind-numbingly dull and pointless and the "broken" robot is one who chooses to neglect work and live life to the hilt by surfing, even though that destroys it (what a cut to the surfing, it just makes you smile). It's got an individualist message about living your life (with an edge that that hedonism might be self-destructive) rather than be a cog in a pointless social machine since we all die anyway (the rusted clock at the end). In "Clockwork" by contrast, the work is depicted as delicate and a bit magical, like the robots themselves, and the story is about a manager robot who very gently and carefully fixes worker robots to keep a huge clock going. In "Clockwork" (which is much quieter) the message is a more collectivist one about how if treated well, everyone can contribute, everyday kindness and satisfaction in cooperation (although there is a faint edge that the robot lives are a bit constrictive and the clock might be pointless maybe?). I liked both a lot it's just interesting.
wow, great analysis . Im super glad with that. Cheers
I can see this in three way
1) life with freedom
2) addiction
3) corruption
can you explain the three?
@@AB-xx6gy freedom is of the guy that is already surfing out there. addiction is represented by over-freedom, as they surf too much that they rust. corruption is the system's view as well as the traditional(obedient) people's (07 bot in the film, you see it shake its head after it failed to keep 06 from going).
"corruption" might also refer to 07 bot's hesitation to keep working at the end, as influenced by 06 the freedom-seeker.
I have a different interpretation for 2 and 3: I see that "addiction" as the freedom seekers' vow of "whatever it takes" since they prefer freedom despite possible harm.
I see the "corruption" as fear/doubt. I think that 07 bot represents the traditional people that are shaken, but fears to reach out for freedom. you can see it wanting to go surfing at the end, but it has never actually done it (shown by clock turning and rusting at the end), because it fears that the system would disprove.
(the word "corruption" is subjective for the system and the subordinate, of course. this doesn't change.)
And propaganda
LOL

Why does everyone assume the robot died? All we really know is that he didn't come back to shore and he didn't go back to work.
For all we know, he could be walking to California in the hopes of more sunny beaches and maybe hooking up with a cute Silicon Valley technician who'll help him work out that squeaky rust.
To those who don't get it: The robots were all being forced to work and bang their head against the wall, but the green robot had enough and he went out to do what he loved the most. Surfing. Even though he died while doing it because of the damage, he made the better choice between being forced to work and enjoying life. He chose the better option.
Master of Puppets So what he didn’t work enough to he could get the money for some water resistance upgrades so he could surf till the end of his days. In my book the robots retarded.
Лучший вариант был бы дожить до пенсии для роботов.
@@user-yk7bf1zi7t🥵🥵🥵
@@user-yk7bf1zi7tthe other robots did not retire. The whole factory rusted too over time. The clock rusted and lots of time passed, so in the end they both died. The green robot just died after living a more enjoyable but shorter life.
I am no philosopher or deep thinker. Loved this movie. It moved me. Great work guys!
This short movie can tell a story without any words.
I love a story with no words! Those are the best short films, I.M.O.

I love how the other robot was so concerned for the one surfing. It was so sad when he realized he went surfing and never came back :,(

Personally I think that it's like a metaphor for doing drugs or things in that sort. I think the daily stamping they do is like a normal daily work routine everyone follows and then they go home. But that one dude goes surfing. Even though it might feel amazing and give him the kick to be able to continue working normally it hurts it and the machine begins to become unfunctional. The caring one tries to help in the end to maybe free him from the addiction, but it refuses and continues doing it till death.
That is a very interesting interpretation! I like it!
But everybody die the same way in the end. X)
I think it could go either way.
Either your meaning or "Die doing what you love." but I think your interpretation was more on point since he avoided doing his work.
I think it is "do what you want with your life". The last bit shows time passing increasingly fast until the clock stops working and start corroding...
It gave me a feeling of "in the end it doesn't matter if you do what is expected from you" (so you might as well enjoy what little time you have instead).
thats the message
He visto un montón de estas animaciones de cgi y esta es de las que mas me ha gustado, pues desde joven tengo la idea de que la vida va mas de calidad que de cantidad, gracias por subir el vídeo.
the moral is its better to die doing the things that give you individualism than wasting your life doing something unfulfilling. the robot felt unfulfilled stamping that stamp day in day out and eventually it had enough and went out to do what it loved, to surf. Even though it ended up killing the robot, which the robot was aware of by its increasing weakness, it comes down to being happy or unhappy and the robot went to be happy
Yes..thats the message of the story...and also one thing we can learn is that if youre surfing, always take good protection for it, specially if youre a metal robot. (in a metaphorical way)

Totto G not sure...its more like a drug problem...the robot kept going back for that temp high and escape from his reality...which eventually killed him. Doing something you love shouldn't kill you...well, it depends what you "love " to do though.
Nah, it's about drug use. Everyone else is functioning member of the society, but there is this one guy who keeps using drugs despite the damage it does to his body. Eventually it starts to hinder his normal life and when someone finally notices and tries to make him stop hurting himself.... it's too late.

He did what he wanted. A true robot (btw im crying)
That Moment is beyond words 4:15 , Existentially touching.
I think this film was an word that “life is short so do something in your life that will make you feel alive”
Whoever animates this can do no wrong.
..."We'll git em when he comes back in!"
..."He's not coming back in."
Green died doing something he loved, that’s a good way to go
Nooo it's so sad I wish they make a teaser that green is coming back😭😭😭😭🥺🥺
It's not about how you died... It's about how you lived!
4:02 The picture appears on the canvas of the missing robot.
I think thats messed up
drug addiction and the boredom of jobs mixed with politicians and sadness. The perfect Disney movie
This makes me think of drugs. You get that short moment of empty joy, only trade off your life with it. The coworker who saw him surfing is like the one who witnesses the addiction and tries to help. Drugs can make someone temporarily happy, but it ruins their life because it saps away their health and they obsess over it to the point they decide to shirk their responsibilities.
Love the surfin' robot.
We all need distractions from reality, don't we?
Maaan those texture are just amazing!
Not a fan of a clock tho...
Great work anyhow! :)
when your passion kills you
Thats why u have to take protections when following your passion.
When your passion gives you something worth dying for.
The robot would rather die happy
Jonathan Delgado robot has no emotion dude [ '-' ]
Darowski Kacper Well that was fucking mean
мораль такова, порой то что нам нравится, к чему нас влечет, может нас же и погубить..
Stop following what everybody else does. Do something that you truly love even if its different. Time is a blessing not a right, our time is precious.
Do whatever makes you happy. Cause at the end of the day we’ll all end up in the same place.

Laying at the bottom of the ocean rusting away his fun was more important then his career and now pays the price 😔r I p little guy
2:02 I NEVER EXPECTED THIS
At least one "print-head robot" died by doing what he loved more ... BY SURFING LIKE A PRO THE WHAVES OF THE SEA 😎🤟
Living in California- I have known many surfers who would tell you if they knew today was the day they were going to die -they would go surfing.
Both beautiful and Sad... like life!😄🤣💕
Nope, you think you are die happy but you forget your responsibility, "we may work that we don't love but we sure we work for who we love". There's something more important than yourself.
Even the robots have inner surfer dude.❤
Ps. The yellow robot quits the job to be the legendary travel CZcamsr!!😂

THIS is what drugs will do to you. It may seem fun at first, but will eventually KILL you at some point. Same with smoking.
It's not how you died..it's about how you lived.
Moral of the story: Follow your dream to the end and never give up.
YOU GET OLD BECAUSE YOU STOP PLAYING, BUT YOU STOP PLAYING BECAUSE YOU GET OLD
To die doing what you like to do or to live doing what you don't like to do....
That is the million dollar question ⁉️
Great work guys!
Do something you like the most while your still young because life is life, god’s chose it we don’t live that long
I like the repeatedly bashing your head against the wall metaphor.
The beach part looks so real
This shows,
He chose to die happily than to live doing something he doesnt even want after all
The way the little robots walk is not believable.
So sad. Very heartfelt movie
what a cool analogy of life for most people.......the one roboguy rusted himself to death and wore himself out enjoying his life.....while everyone else "worked"....
.... unexpected.... Nicely done :D
So remember kids, do drugs. It feels way more exciting than a desk job, and it's Totally worth dying for.
your an idiot
and you misspelled "you're"
Drugs kills you. Moron.
Life is the ultimate killer! 100% of the living die!
Some have short lives; some have long lives. Some have lives dominated by drudgery, others by joy.
Many of us have a choice of a long dull life or a shorter, more enjoyable life.
Which do you choose? Remember, regardless of your choice, you're dead in the end!
It's almost as cute as a Surfing Sea Otter 😂
For some reason this reminds me of 1984 and big brother
Is it me or did the sound just turn to crap after the 3 minute mark?
Looks like a metaphor for drug addiction to me.
Well , I guess drugs are a form of escaping . But I think there are healthier ways like Arts , sports, or even changing your life in a way that you wont need to escape , which is hard and wont last . The idea of this short is to remember we are here for just a small time.
Your right
Some think its for their happiness but they thought wrong
Nashedi
Думаю надо жить в свое удовольствие ведь рано и поздно мы все умрём что и было показано в конце
he just wanted enjoying his day after work.. feels so bored when you were lived without any vacation
He has an obsession/addiction of surfimg
Graphics better than a Cartoon movie (Not DreamWorks or Disney's)
I can tell the ocean scene took a lot of work because is hard to combine cgi with water
I like when one of the robots was surfing and catching some waves.
The water was made using Blender, for sure :)
Great animation
I may or may not have thought that the robots were stamping a picture of Hitler on a poster....
wtf lol xD

1:32 Either that robot that wastes its time looking at the clock works at the speed of light or a ghost is printing the images for it or this is a continuity error.
Good animation nonetheless
I love watching these making me fall asleep
Moral of the story , no one can survive without work
i bet at the end the rusty one became like a statue
I should have done that.
Theres people saying about addiction, and the other saying dying happy
im confused
Because they are confused too
Everytime I get to work I feel like that
Lesson learned: Never surf as a robot
BANG(ow) BANG(ow) BANG(ow) . . .
the only thing i dislike is that there is a lack of sound at the end
Apparently the robot's ears had rusted or his mic shorted out.
Honestly was not expecting that!
Yeah it's sad truth about life, we love some things even, if they are unhealthy for us. Some people choose also risky passions, even when they know that it can cost them health or life, cos they love the adrenaline and it brings them joy ;)
This is how i uderstand this, thanks. But what do think of their work and why print pics
@@serugwanyagodfrey5050 I think they make stamps not prints, about works it's probably just shown how most of us more or less hate their works for monotony and doing same things every day, if face is same on every stamp, every day I think it might be for propaganda of their country dictatorship...
