A small clarification, I see that the Dji Action 4 is a little too sharp. My mistake, I should have set it to -1 or -2. My mistake. Nice if you give me a thumbs up. Thanks🤩
It's so good to see you stick to honest reviews and comparisons. The bottom line is that both Insta 360 and DJI seem to have fielded excellent cameras - and are just exchanging the lead in some features. We are really lucky to have this competition driving positive change.
Hi Mike, yes I try to be as honest as possible. Maybe it spoils a bit for myself, so I wonder if any producers will send me something. They probably don't like honesty😥. It is good to see that the various manufacturers are pushing each other. It's good for us. Thanks for watching 😀
DJI remains the clear leader in the colors IMHO, the skin tones and greens are just so much nicer. The minimum focus distance for vlogging remains a problem for Ace Pro, giving your face a soft look while you are in focus with the Action 4. I'm glad to see Insta360 compete in the regular action cam space and provide lots of firmware updates but ultimately what this camera needs is an "Ace Pro 2" that 1) has a replaceable lens 2) a short minimum focus distance 3) 8K/30 4) 10 bit color with improved color science 4) improved water sealing doors that are less likely to be dislodged. I honestly think they will deliver something very close to that and I wonder if it will be this year since the normal form factor action camera segment updates yearly for GoPro and DJI... I can't imagine Insta360 would want the current Ace Pro with its issues competing against an even better Action 5 and Hero 13 for a year until 2025. Excellent recap of the update!
Hi, thanks for watching my videos. I completely agree with you. It will be exciting to follow what the various companies come up with in their next camera. But as you say Insta360 needs to do something with the next generation. It's a shame it doesn't focus better. But we hope that the next one will be much better. I still think Dji is the best. Thanks for watching 😀
Yeah, the focus issue is the main reason why DJI OA4 wins for me. At first, I really love Ace Pro because of the PureVideo and 8K. But for a traveler who use action cams as their main vlogging camera, some would like to close up videos of food, train ticket, tea cup etc. Out of focus in Ace Pro will be a problem. Yes, we can simply zoom using the built in digital zoom, but travel vlog is mostly spontaneous and always on the move (e.g. city walking).
Excellent comparison. According to my highly elderly eyes and ears the DJI Mic 2 & action 4 are clear winners. Keep up the outstanding work. Shalom, Theodore in Southern California.
Espen, thank you for these series of comparisons. They only confirm my initial choice of the DJI Action 4 even more. My DJI Action 4 has the Horizon Steady feature at 1080p and 2.7K, which appears to perform similarly to what you demonstrated at 10:40. Could you please make a comparison based on that feature?
Robert, thanks for watching. Dji Action 4 is probably still the best camera. But I like that Insta360 keeps updating the camera. Of course I can make a comparison. Thanks for watching 😀
I can commend both DJI and Insta 360 for their frequent firmware updates that make their cameras better and give them new features. You can't go wrong with either. My $2000 mirrorless camera has not had a single meaningful update since I bought it 2 years ago!
why ace pro losing focus background ?.. I watch other reviewers they said ace pro focus at infinity but you video the background looks blur out, why is that ?
Hi, that's a good question. But it's not just the background that's out of focus, I'm also out of focus. Ace pro delivers a bit unevenly when it comes to focus. Sometimes it's good, sometimes not. Thanks for watching 😀
Its good, not as good as on the Action 4 or Pocket 3. I highly recommend the mic, you can record internal and sync it. Im gonna do a audio test next week 👍
Great video. I just want to buy one action cam for this summer and it is so difficult. So many people say the insta footage is over sharpened however in this video for me the action 4 was too sharp. Maybe just for me?
Hi, thanks for watching 😀. For me the action 4 is the best action camera tou can buy. My mistake that the action 4 was to sharp in this video. Faulty settings from me. I highly recommend you to buy the action 4 over the Ace pro.
I recently purchased an Ace Pro as I grew frustrated with GoPro. I am using the same wireless mic (Movo Mic) inside my motorcycle helmet to connect to this camera. When I import the resulting clips into iMovie, the wave forms are so small it makes editing annoying. Increasing the gain does nothing. It doesn't sound different and the wave forms are still small. Do you have this issue?
I don't have quite the same problem, rarely use an external mic. When I use an external mic, I use Dji Mic 2. It's amazingly good. But I am not very impressed with the audio quality that the Ace Pro generates when you use an external mic. So sometimes I record externally on Dji Mic 2 and sync in post. Congratulations on your new camera, have you considered the Dji Action 4 with Dji Mic 2?. Many people use it, especially motor vloggers
@@EspenJohan Thanks for the response. I'm about 3 to 4 weeks into the Ace Pro. Been using it almost daily for mostly Moto-vlog stuff. I really like the resulting sound but man the editing is tough with small waveforms. Have to admit regretting not getting the DJI. One of those things of not discovering the "bad" stuff until you really get hands-on testing stuff. Yes, considering to buy the DJI still and maybe compare both. One thing is for sure, I'm glad to not be using the GoPro Hero 10 anymore. Lost too much footage and other issues.

@@EspenJohan I don’t think I would buy one again unless they came out with a low light camera with at least a 1 inch sensor. GoPro has the worst app as well hahaha
it's great we have in camera horizon lock but it's cropped in and hope they will widen that in future firmware updates. But at the very least, we have the option to customize horizon lock in the original way via freevideo mode in the app which also gives you much more fov customization. One more thing, A4 only has horizontal 'lock' in 2.7k not 4k which the Ace Pro has even if cropped ;)
In camera horizon lock is nice to have in camera, but I thought at 45 degrees the Ace pro doesn't look very good. If you look at Dji action 4, there is not so much crop, and image quality is significantly better. Completely forgot to test 2.7K on the dji camera. With horizon lock
@@EspenJohan Personally I don't use horizontal lock but yes, they just opened it up and I think more tweaking of this horizontal lock will be done. I know there was some people asking for it but at least we have both options. tbh, I prefer the freevideo mode because I have much more customization with framing but its a few more steps.

Action 4 is more crisp on your face, maybe a little too crisp. The audio from the Mic 2 on the Action 4 is far superior to the Ace Pro. The Ace Pro actually looked a bit more in focus than usual. Maybe try reducing the sharpness by 1 on the Action 4. It would help with that over sharpening. Just wish DJI would expose better for the face & colors be a bit less muddy & more vibrant.
