That woman reporting the homeless man is a damn saint.
Really gave this case so many answers and it was pretty solved in a day all thansk to the shop owner and mom
Caring about a humans can make all the world of difference
@cacamedaddy The mom did a lot too.
@@barth9580 you are right mom did the cleaning and found it. Felt bad for the whole family
That mother is a Saint
He chose the wrong homeless man. He might have not had a house to call home but he had an entire community looking out for him
This! Just because he was homeless doesn’t mean he was worthless or unloved. And f*ck Brian for thinking as much.
@@Sweets77Well said, ma'am. This is one sick kid, pure evil
I bet Brian thought it would be easier and less chance of getting caught preying on the homeless .
In our small town we have a homeless man exactly like Warren. Our whole community helps and protects him. We all helped him build a small cabin, garden, dog pin for his pups everything. He works for the local garbage company. His dogs are the best dogs ever and he lets them out everyday at 3 bc he knows that’s when the kids get home. They come running up to greet the kids and then play until dusk. Then we walk the pups home with a plate of dinner. I can assure you that Warren was well loved by his community more than that psychopath could ever know. I hope he gets life and is never let out.
That woman knew he was harmed the minute he didn’t turn up as usual. That’s real care!
sometimes you can tell that someone does bad things because of bad parents at home, but his parents seem like genuinely good people and I feel so incredibly sorry for them.
yeah… unfortunately sometimes doesn’t matter how hard parents try bad things happen with the child…
That's what's crazy to me! They seem like just an average suburban family. The guy just seems like pure evil.
It’s possession
Worst parents ever, they should be held as accountable as their son. They sound so detached and un-affectionate towards anything their son has done or is capable of, as if they are talking about a stranger living in their house. Horrible.
@Iamsofakingwetartit they didn't seem detached, they seemed like they're in shock... They're in an interrogation room after finding the severed head of the man their son murdered in his closet. They're going to be playing the "what if" scenarios in their heads for the rest of their lives.
The fact that Brian nonchalantly answered "Human Head & Hands", speaks VOLUMES!!!
So dramaticly too. Like he was on the stage. Pause, slow head turn, low voice. He was playing his role and sinister attitude
My question is why did they not slap cuffs on him when he said human head and hands.
@@user-gn8if3fq9jTo try and keep him calm, sure, he's clearly guilty, but they need him to cooperate.
Imagine if he did it to someone else as well and they didn't know, if they went all in on him there's a chance they'd never know that, keeping things as relaxed as possible helps when interrogating criminals.
what sucks is that admission was before they read him his rights, its not going to be able to be used against him
@@thatonekid220 Well, it doesn’t need to be used. He gave a full, detailed confession AT the police station after being read his rights and waiving his rights to an attorney. And that confession WAS used against him in his trial, as he’s already been tried, convicted and sentenced to LWOP.
The fact that he thought he was only gonna get 15-20 years, but in fact he got life in prison without the possibility of parole, is SOOOO SATISFYING!!
If he only wanted 15-20yrs he should have became a p*do.. 🤮 the system is fucked up for that
CO had abolished capital punishment in 2020. Which usually I'm glad of...but for little Bro here, I'd feel it was fine.
He was acting like a nut job to try to get away with it.
AuHD doesn't make you a sociopath. Different issues.
@@fredriksdottir There are millions of people with AuHD who don't kill or even think about it. There are millions of neurotypicals who have killed. It's unrelated to this case.
The whole thing is so sad. I can’t imagine how much pain he put that man, his family and his own parents through.
Yeah, but the fact that the officers found it funny is not...
This kid was 1000% a serial killer in the making, I'm glad the parents didn't try to save the kid and cover it up
Definitely man I was gonna say the same thing.if he didn't get caught he would have killed alot more the level of research and his lack of remorse is shocking
They did until they couldn't. Had they listened to the school officials, then the homeless guy would've still been alive.
@@LalaLarrieuxExactly. I truly think this could all have been prevented if his parents had finally realized and accepted that their son was(is) a potential danger to society, and that he needed help.
If the family was black, you know the parents wouldn’t have said a damn thing

Crazy how his friend literally expected him to kill multiple people and still chose to be his friend and not tell anyone, might wanna check on her too
I mean would YOU reject a psycho?
@@69SalterStreet we know you wouldn’t.
As sad and awful as it is to say but sometimes people worsen with time and while when they met it came off very jokingly as it slowly became less of a joke she became so desensitized to his humor that it was hard to see through it all and she stated she had family with similar spectrum issues and just wanted to be that 1 person he could count on it sucks and she will live the rest of her life thinking about her side of the guilt
Well you also have those girls that are fascinated about serial killers and form some type of bond to them. I think Jeffery dahmer even received a love note at some point I’m not sure but just fact check me just in case I’m wrong.
She might have just been protecting herself too you never know what a person like that would do if they felt wronged especially by a close friend
His friend, Kylynn, is a damned fool. She thought he'd kill on a large scale and never warned/informed anyone.
I can't stand listening to her talk.
I was thinking the exact same thing, I’m glad someone else said it
She did, maybe 20 minutes from the end. She told teachers and her mom, they were all aware and were looking out.
I thought she was just some naive teenager but when they showed testimony from her husband… damn didn’t realize she was a whole adult dodging the warning signs
It seemed to me that even the parents knew, they were just in denial about it.
@@edburgosi feel like they knew it the moment they saw the blood on the car, you can see how they try to distract the police by making jokes and laughing kinda desperately. No normal parent would be that „happy“ when they see their son wrecking a car at 3 am.
The parents enabled him for years by looking away from his weird ass behaviour and by acting like the school is bullying him by pointing out his antics.
Not only did he murder that man. He simultaneously ruined his mother and fathers life, their business. He single-handedly ruined his entire family for absolutely no reason.
You're very right but I also feel as if the parents are partially to blame. The kill kit, the doctors, the schools- they all warned them. Hell, even the blood on the bumper and the ID. But it took finding the head of an innocent man for them to realize what everyone else had been warning them about from the beginning. So while I feel for them, I also feel like the way they coddled him through his violent behavior and made the school feel bad for bringing it up and claiming discrimination (while he himself has discriminated against fat people, Asians, homeless people and more in his "jokes") definitely contributed to him being able to do this in the first place. When they found the kill kit, at the very least, that should've been enough to call the cops, get him committed or something. But they just gave him a slap on the wrist and promised not to tell if he didn't do it again. This is also through the consequences of their neglect to recognize and neutralize the danger/threat before he was fully formed and found his conditions to finally follow through with what he'd been fantasizing about for so long.
did anyone notice the kids on the moms daycare logo looks like he's angry? Was it just me?
@@Prettyp1999 I think it’s a ‘no easy answers’ situation. I can agree to an extent, but what exactly are they supposed do? They threatened calling the cops, but if they knew the law, the cops can’t really do anything because he hadn’t technically committed any crime; it’s alarming, but it’s not a crime or enough to prove conspiracy to commit murder just owning a bag full of tools, zip ties, and knives. He was formally diagnosed, so we know they had him see a psychiatrist, but even kids that get sent to therapy have ended up committing heinous acts + he’s legally an adult, so they can’t force him to keep going or take medication he’s been prescribed. They couldn’t have him involuntarily committed because he wasn’t showing signs of psychosis, and even if they did, the best they could get is a 72-hour hold. The most they could’ve done is kicked him out, and that’s basically just shoving the problem out of sight where he possibly could’ve continued killing others or even retaliated against the family. His mom even said she looked for further resources but nobody in town could see him. This all on top of taking care of another child and trying to pay the bills. These things always seem easy on paper, but if you’ve ever had to deal within the system, there’s often very little assistance/resources available for people like Brian’s parents until it’s too late.
@@slimktjust finished my undergrad in psychology, this is spot on.
Every kid does some stupid shit where, if things REALLY get out of hand, you look back and say “oh… that was a warning sign”…
The mother practically stopped her son from becoming a serial killer
I feel so bad for her! Imagine seeing something like that at ALL, let alone in your own child's bedroom closet. I'd want to run out of that house and never stop. The fact that she had the wherewithal to immediately call the police really speaks to her character.
She made such a difficult choice.

She did but she was so in denial about how serious she needed to watch him.

The most disturbing part about this case is just how ordinary his upbringing seems to be. Lived in a nice house with a garden, financially stable, two caring parents with the heart in the right place, went to school and had a friend group, even was invited to parties…
When thinking about people that do these kind of things, you imagine a total outcast from a poor home with a lot of trauma, but nothing applies here. Makes you wonder if some people are just born that way
Crazy doesn't need an excuse.
Rational people search for or create scenarios in their mind how they can imagine someone doing something.
But people who murder others, especially without motive or gain, is an irrational person.
When you learn what a human being really is you'll know how this can be.
yeah.. is the age old question of nature vs nurture. Seems like it was nature this time
It doesn't make me wonder. Anybody can be crazy.
@@lina.998And the unfortunate thing is, nature is almost unfixable. It is a real shame that we don't have a proactive system to deal with dangerous mental cases in the US before an actual crime is committed.

Two of the sweetest parents slowly discovering that their kid is a serial killer in the making
This is a bit late, but if I recall correctly, Rotten Mango had dived into this case, and this is what I remember:
The kind lady who opens the cafe lets Warren in earlier, is the one that talked about Warren's situation. He would always say 'he had a place to live' or something of the sort to prevent others worrying him,
he knew they would give him money for a motel or some sort, and he would hide the truth even if he had to sleep under the bridge in the harsh weather.
Based on the people's concern for Warren, we don't need more than that to know Warren is a truly kind and caring soul who cares for others even though he was living a rough life.
This is so heartbreaking to read and made me tear up. I don’t know what this man did or what his past was like, but I know that no person deserves to go out like that. I wish he could have continued to turn his life around… RIP Warren Barnes.
I am the second woman with my husband who was looking for Warren. I also testified in the trial but this is first time I saw Brian's response to what he did .Makes me sick how nonchalant he was about taking he human life he thought didn't matter if anything I hoped we help show that He did matter and is very much missed

This dude did evil stuff, but calling all autistic people sick weirdos is evil. Autistic people are 15 times less likely to commit a crime then any other group in the US, but they are 20 times more likely to be the victim of a violent crime and 18 times more likely to commit suicide, largely because of people calling them weirdos and treating them like their disability makes them subhuman.

The police politely didn't handcuff the killer who confessed to the crime right off the bat, while questioning him at his home, after already finding the evidence to the crime. He was casually transported without handcuffs all the way into the police station. Must be a Colorado thing.
Being kind means a false sense of security and keeps him cooperative. Notice how no one got hurt during his arrest, it all went smoothly.

@@Mike-wu7ieNo, homeless people can be dangerous... While you can do your best to help them, you don't really know them sufficient to understand what happened in their life's that caused them to be homeless now. Those people had a home and family before. You don't really know what happened because they can tell you the history that they think it's better, we can't put ourselves and our family at risk to be superheroes... But if you're rich you can buy a house for them if you want... Another option is they really have offered home for him and he simply didn't wanted it. There's homeless people who don't want to be part of a family or have a home. There's interview on CZcams, some homeless people still have contact with family but simply don't want to get back. Nothing pisses me off more than the 911 dispatcher asking absolutely pointless questions… “was it bloody?” because that matters 🙄
It actually does. With special effects and other means of creating fake heads, especially for Halloween, the dispatcher needs as much details as they can to determine whether there is a serious incident or not, and if there is still a threat. And fake blood IS obviously not real blood, so these details matter. If she found a fake head, the police response would need to be drastically different than if she found a real human head.

Bro, the signs where there. My mom is a special education teacher and has students similar to this guy. And the parents ALWAYS make excuses and ignore the signs
im an autistic woman, and its why i dont really talk to male autistics (and why i know many of my fellow female autists dont associate with them either) a lot of them tend to have very dark 'humour' and just seem off (and not because of their autism symptoms or anything, ive never felt that way around fellow autistic women). obviously i do think those people are in the minority when it comes to male autistics, but theyre a loud minority. its why online, there are always separate groups for autistic women, because for some reason a lot of autistic men seem to really despise autistic women and so there would always be a lot of extreme sexism in just average autism groups. women because autism in men and women are different. it was actually only very recently that doctors, psychiatrists etc actually realised that women CAN be autistic because of how different we present symptoms to our male counterparts, even today getting a diagnosis as a woman is so hard and girl autism is so commonly ignored (mine included, i was only diagnosed in my late teens, whilst my 2 nephews got their diagnoses when they were toddlers.)
So all her students with these types of issues ended up as cold-blooded killers?

I do believe in rehabilitation, but in cases like these, I'm glad life w/o parole is the only option.
You thought murdering someone, chopping them into pieces and keeping the pieces would only get him 15 - 20? Are you stupid?
With the “I murdered someone” answer 28 minutes in, I don’t think he was bragging.
People with Autism (like myself) think differently and understand questions differently and I answer like that all the time, I was asked “What year are you in?” as a reference to my grade in school and I answered with “2024”. 💀

This happened in my home town. Warren was actually a well know and loved member of the community. He was not housed but he had a job and was often seen downtown reading. There is a memorial for him at the bench he used to frequent. He was missed immediately and still is to this day.

I totally agree. Someone like that shouldn’t be in law enforcement. It’s one thing to nervously laugh as a way to cope, but she sounded amused. Either way I’m sure she must feel embarrassed that we can all witness her doing this on CZcams.
Totally disrespectful to the victim and his family.
I was looking for this comment. I can't believe you would laugh like that when your partner points out severed human body parts. That's absolutely disgusting. I would get a nervous laugh or something but that was a full belly laugh at finding human remains of a once ALIVE and missed human being.
I looked at his reddit account and in 2019 he makes a post about how he killed that cat he was definitely a serial killer in the making
Omg that’s terrible…I would be too disturbed and a bit scared to look it up myself, but am curious to what you found and what that post said specifically…so sad :( and heartbreaking. All of it is devastating. What a POS…

@Jannis-hj4vm That changes the fact that she's shocked he only killed one person how?
Hearing that girl talk was infuriating - she knew about him killing a cat as well and didn't seem to care in the slightest.
I think people should be worried about her too. The fact that she thought he’d eventually kill people and had no problem being his friend is concerning.
Probably felt like she was “too far in” and didn’t want to be a target. Hope she got help!
Takes a real saint to call the cops on a missing homeless person who you haven't seen for only 1 day.
Well she said she saw every single day without fail and sounded like she considered him a friend
W on everyone’s intuition with this situation. absolutely chilling
It says a lot about what a special man he was. It also says a lot about the folks who looked past his homelessness and genuinely cared for him. I wish more people were like this. Some of the homeless people I have encountered are the kindest, most generous folks I have ever met. Those who have so little are often willing to give up their last $5 to help someone in need, while so many with plenty just hoard all their wealth.
Those two ladies are awesome. They cared about this guy and it showed.
Apparently not everybody has as low opinion of homeless people as you seem to. smh.
Okay but the way he's so calm while explaining everything and admitting everything is so disturbing??

I found part of this statement on a memorial page for Warren. I think its important for everyone to read and reflect on. "Barnes was a staple of the downtown Grand Junction community. He was a man who loved to read and had many friends, including the local wildlife. Feeding birds and getting lost in books, Barnes could often be found in the same breezeway day after day.
Between Monique’s Bridal Shop and Out West Books, Barnes’ story lives on through a new, permanent metal art memorial dedicated to who some called “the reading man.”
“To me, I would call him the bird man,” said Monique Lanotti of Monique’s Bridal and Formal Wear. “Every single day he would eat Subway and give half of his bread to the birds, half of it. There's not many people that I can say would do something like that, to have so little and still give half of it to birds.”
Warren was so much more than some "unmissed" "Homeless man". He was a kind and gentle soul. I hope you rot in prison Brian. R.I.P Warren Barnes ❤🐦📚
This was a nice thing to read. Not even sure how I got here. But I'd like to focus on who this kind man was, as to the circumstances that lead to this video.

To the women who befriended Warren, Thank you for showing Warren such kindness & being such a good friend. So many people see homeless people as just a nuisance & as being "lesser than". You gave him a nice place to read & a few dollars in his pocket. Warren no doubt was touched by your kindness & love & was thrilled to have such a nice spot to read. But your biggest gift was standing in for his family & made the missing report. Most people wouldn't have bothered. I'm sure Warren saw you as his friend & as his family. I believe you now have a special guardian angel named Warren who'll be watching out for you & yours. I hope you have a very blessed life.
Homeless are fucking nuisance
Thank you for your comment. Warren sounds as though he was a super bloke. Being homeless doesn’t make anybody less valuable than any other member of society. So many different reasons people end up homeless & people from all stratas of society too. So true to not judge a book by its cover. I learnt this lesson years ago. I used to work at a dance school & a homeless man used to sit across the road outside of the post office, in the afternoon, with a bottle of beer. My boss would call the cops to move him on which really pissed me off because he never harassed anyone & I thought he should just be left alone.People would give him a wide berth & act as if he was invisible. I’d have to collect the mail from the P.O. Box & he’d always give me a cheery hello. I’d always respond likewise & over time talked more & more with him. He was filthy, unshaven with matted hair & getting on in years. He’d lived an incredibly full, successful life. Well educated and esteemed professional. Had been married with a family until he suffered a traumatic experience & his marriage & career fell apart. His mental health took a hit & time passed then there he was outside the Post Office. I looked forward to our chats & would give him food & a few dollars (he never asked for anything & was greatly appreciative) found out he had many people who interacted & looked out for him in the area. It was a sad day when he wasn’t there one afternoon & I found out weeks later he’d passed away one night. Someone had looked into his backstory & wrote an article that was published in the newspaper. An amazing man who left an indelible mark on many lives. RIP Jim, you’ll never be forgotten.❤️🌹…

Yeah, people tend to forget that homeless people are still someone's friend, someone's family. They are people. My sister's body was found on the 2nd in a makeshift tent in a field of trash. She became heavily addicted to meth and heroin, and chose to be homeless very quickly so she could focus solely on that. Her life was pretty tragic the last 15, she couldn't cope. @tiredofitall9213 enabled him, how? By giving him $20 for beer? The man had a job for four years and never missed a day. You don't think he deserves a beer to stave off the shakes? Do you even alcoholism, bro? Even if he were a raging alcoholic, sometimes a beer can save your life.
