I think a lot of the comedy is this sketch comes from the way they are talking, which is not really translatable.
This cartoon is definitely a Loriot classic; although it is a litte bit different.
As you might hear, it's not spoken by Loriot, but by Wilhelm Bendow and Franz-Otto Krüger, back in 1946.
Loriot made this cartoon of the old sketch in about 1972 - ca. 26 years later.
yes, this soundclip was recorded in 1946 and Loriot only added the cartoon/video,
but the original script was created and first recorded on a shellac disc almost 100 years ago, in 1926 !!!
comedy is no new invention :-)
"Ja wo laufen sie denn...?" is almost like the first german meme. You will hear this often in your life over here.
True! Lota people know that line without knowing the origin. 😂
yeah, you missed some jokes, ... but not your fault at all! :)
Moin, Mace! Short info: Minute ca. 3:23: "Po" is not just an italian river. In the german language "Po" is also a short form for "Popo", and this is a trivial word for (engl.) "ass"! 😂
the gentle english word is "butt"
Pau/Paue is a city in the southwest of france which has a horse racing track and other horse tracks.
there also are areas in the south of france which have "semi wild" horses.
I assume that that town and not the italian river Po was meant.
@@Anson_AKB Yes, the french town is mentioned, not the italian river.
And yes , the Loriot Movie 😊😊😊
2:21 Correct, Electrola was recording company, later acquired by EMI and for a couple of decades was known in Germany as „EMI Electrola“.
3:18: He actually says Biarritz, not Vienna. And the Po is a pun. The guy is talking about the river in Italy, but the other guy understands “in the butt”.
Die Nudel 😂The Noodle❤Tschüss
3:02 those lines are actually a slightly risqué sexual innuendo…
Look to the sketch "Das Bild hängt schief"
The darker dressed gentleman is totally surprised, that the lighter dressed gentleman has no clue and is , weltfremd '.
There is an undercurrent of playing with a gay steretype, which of course back then was not talked about openly. There are some puns, that in German could be sexual innuendos. Unsure if it was covertly mean-spirited or just light-hearted. Hatd to know how this would have been percieved by a general audience 70 years ago. But to me it leaves a little bitter taste, although I, as most German's love almost all of Loriot's stuff. But again, it is very subtle.
Well, Wilhelm Bendow was gay, as a matter of fact. And the audience loved him so much that the nazis didn't dare to put him into a concentration camp.
Po is the german word for butt 😉😁
Unfortunately this is partially untranslateable 😁 The Cartoon is from Loriot from the 1970's but the voices are from Wilhelm Bendow and Franz-Otto Krüger from 1946. The ORIGINAL in fact was from Bendow and Paul Morgan from 1926. Unfortunately Morgan died in concentration camp Buchenwald in 1938 😢
I love Loriot, he is the best, but I never got the charme of this one.
Should not forget these cartoons are what, 50 years old!! He was a great artist and this is quality stuff, but time flys, people change and humor, too...... What has been progressive and new might be a bit outdated today.🤷
Where are they running? And looking in completely the wrong direction.
