  • We show and share how we rework and develop the ports of a CRV nonvtec P75 head that let us see achievements of excellent performance and efficiency to boot! 15km to a liter or 35mp on city driving was the more common instances for our old friend's CRV that was for utilitarian use and a family car at the same time! That prolly did a job well done right?
Now on your civic imagine? it could be more efficient and perform better than as if it was on a CRV yeah?
We also give a shout out to Mugen and Toda on their famous Formula 3 engines which were Non Vtec B20 engines and we do talk about exhaust systems and its efficiency

I think aside from this work on the head… it would be surprising for you to see a lot are still within the “realm” of what you do.
Example on the exhaust = same analogy if comp is somewhat mild then a mild exhaust would help indeed like a TypeR copy of sorts etc. same with induction but cam related
Mild cam = u can go big on intake
Hot cam = I can stay “small” on the intake to let airspeed stay good…
      That’s a cam choice between
      Crower 62403-2
      And
      Crower 62404-2
If a cam is the direction? My choice be 404 and just port the factory intake manifold :)

"o every head is different and you need to know what to do." and everytime they dont explain their approach and everytime it looks exactly the fucking same as every port job on every head ever. You cant say shit like "o the way you port this head is not the same as you would a b16 head" and then not explain why and what the differences are

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před 2 lety +3

sorry about that as the video could take too long and boring for that but i see what you are saying
and pardon me if alot of times i assume the listener or watcher already understood the basics or the scenario
example Valve size to port volume, valve size to throat ratio and ofcourse "stroke" dictates piston acceleration which affects "signal" on how the engine sucks in air etc
the other aspects i mentioned or said is this:
D-series in relation to its stroke (90mm which is 1mm more than a b20) has quite high piston acceleration therefor sucking in more and with its small valves (knowing we can do cams and intake) these heads often time can and will lack "port volume" and that cannot be "seen" easily if u know what i mean?
now compare to a b16a head which is already borderline nearing "too big" of a port volume especially for a b16a with 77.4mm stroke
YOU cant port it for a B16 using tje D16 approach of lacking port volume? hope that makes sense...
this goes the same for the P75 its not on the "too big" zone yet... so the approach then cannot be "what youd do to a b16" knowing on that platform you could easily go overboeard... hope that makes sense
again thats all taking into account valve size
rod length, stroke and even cam to be used and compression... and with that? the video could take 2hours lol
so i hope that explains it a bit better and pardon me for saying "shit like that" cuz i expected those into it already covered some of the factors like sizes and all but def my bad on that
and yep id explain as you comment mainly cuz its worth explaining cuz i understood and im sure all the head porting youve seen if u ask theyd always make it sound too complicated like as if you dont understand lol
not here :) so i hope i got to reply to your comment properly man :)

I have yet to get cams for it but I was eyeing the crower 404. I have vtec sized valves in a b20. So should I port it more as if it was a gsr head or more as if it was a p75 head? @@timm5970 oh snap nice rare head there tbh here in this country I’ve yet to see one
But from the silicon molds I’ve seen it’s closer to a b16 shaped port but it doesn’t seem to be borderline “too much” port volume mainly because the valve stem size is still “bigger” than vtec so it’s a % lessened on throat cross sectional area
So you are on the money with the “gsr” approach but in a sense only on “amount” removed but the nonvtec p8r likes a little short turn help mainly since unlike the GSR has some port length “into” the seat letting it arrange itself (K series are taller in a sense here they’re tons better)
So widen the short turn a bit = kinda hinted on it on my earlier porting vid the “how to: TypeR “
Now publicly I’ve shared some of my approach lmfao but all good I mean a lot of the “experts” are less willing to adapt so if they do different? Well Pride is also different lmfao

@@timm5970 I was about to say thanks for your “shitty” comment lol kidding
But thanks cuz it gave me an idea and since I haven’t ported a P08 for a vid most of it we’re done with pictures? Next chance I get to port a P08 you bring up a good idea
Can share specific stuff for that specific head and why or atleast the analogy to why
Oh btw if idle was crucial yeah 404s are nice but I come from a vw lopey idle background so 405s I won’t mind hahaha
