Doe Benzene react with potassium permanganate, a strong oxidizing agent? The answer is NO, unless you happen to be asking about an alkyl benzene (a benzene molecule with an alkyl group attached, like methylbenzene). These alkyl groups can be oxidized, for example the CH3 methyl group can become COOH, which forms benzoic acid.
