Heard the same about Tannehill. Fields has 38 INTs in 50 games and almost as many fumbles. Coach T values ball control. Doesn’t sound like a likely scenario.

If Mason goes and Minn releases Tomlin would get Dobbs over Fields and Tannahill is far better than Mason and Mitch as a vet backup. Let Dobbs and Kenny compete and if none works you then draft cause Kenny needs one more season shot.
He was also sacked 135 times in three seasons. He had zero protection and zero weapons. But he improved every year. Im not ready to give up on Pickett, he was saddled with the worst OC in Steeler history. But if the price is low on Fields why not? I think Chicago is stupid to give up on him. They should keep their picks and draft Harrison Jr first and the best left tackle available at 8th.

Both Fields n Mitch cannot read defenses to save their lives, both don’t anticipate, poor field vision, Fields holds the ball like it’s his job leading to horrible sack numbers . I don’t see the Steelers making that move and if they do it’s time to fire Tomlin n your GM because they’ve reached desperation mode

Justin Fields is not coming to Pittsburgh. Mike Tomlin highly, highly values ball security. This would be so unlike them, and would go against the only thing their offense had going for them. Not turning the ball over.
This doesn’t get mentioned enough. Tomlin once turned to an undrafted rookie because he thought Mason was turning the ball over too much. And Mason wasn’t creating turnovers at a Jameis Winston-level like Fields has.

@NBMDON Unlike Justin Fields, Ben was a hall of fame quarterback. You tend not to worry about a couple interceptions as much when your qb can throw for 400 yards and 3 tds any given week.

Is fields the best at reading a defense? Nope, but he has other skills that would make up for it. The bears didn’t use fields’ legs as a threat at all this season, despite being one of the most mobile qbs ever. Doesn’t take a genius to see that if the defense has to focus on both his legs and arm it would open up more holes to exploit. Instead they tried to force him into becoming a pocket qb
I don't see the Steeles giving up the draft capital necessary to trade for a QB who may not even really be an upgrade and who's 5th-year option is going to cost 22 million or whatever it is to pick it up. Makes no sense. And we haven't even seen Kenny Pickett outside of a Matt Canada Mickey Mouse offense yet. We got 1 game and they smoked Cincinnati.
I agree, Unless it's a 2nd rounder I just don't see it. And at that stage you gotta factor in guys like JJ Mccarthy or Penix Jr. In an extremely deep QB class I think it's foolish to ship a low 1st or high 2nd rounder for Fields unless you want a QB with great mobility to build around. The one thing Fields has over anyone in this class is his rushing ability, if he's a scheme/vision fit for what you want in an offense nab him.

@@xavieonedavis1318 Not according to overall stats or record. Statistically, they're fairly even, but Fields is a turnover machine. In 2022, he had 27 turnovers. . . that's atrocious compared to KP's 13 turnovers. In 2023, Fields had 19 turnovers to KP's 6. Record wise, it's not even close, KP is better at winning games because he doesn't give the ball to the other team almost twice per game. If we had Fields last year, we wouldn't have been close to making the playoffs because the massive number of turnovers compared to KP far outweighed his slight offensive benefit over KP. And KP had the worst OC in Steeler's history and the worst OC, by far, in the NFL last year. Fields may "look" and "feel" better, but thankfully that's why we have statistics to keep us straight, hence the Bears getting rid of Fields due to his horrible performance over the last 3 years and worse performance compared to KP.

I'm a Steeler fan and I'm confident that the franchise is going in the right direction with the upcoming draft. We normally keep 4 QBs on the roster. 5-1 in the AFC North with what we had and we'll be in contention again.

Gotta' be Russell Wilson in my opinion.......he just didn't "mesh" with Payton in Denver. He'd literally be on the "veteran minimum" and actually had a good year in Denver. He's 35 years old (young for a QB these days) and is a Super Bowl winning QB (TWO time if it wasn't for the dumbest call in Super Bowl history) who could have MANY good years left. His "low" salary would open up so much cap space for the Steelers. Omar.....DO THIS. It's an AMAZING FIT IMO.
Wilson did pretty well under Payton, and they only had 1 season together. Idk why on earth Denver would trade him after last season, especially with how much dead cap that would cause

As a Steeler fan, I say HELL NO to Fields. Turnovers! Turnovers! Turnovers! Tannehill as a bridge QB is by far the best option. Especially if Smith can resurrect that great rushing attack with the play action off of it.
He significantly cut down turnovers this year though. Most of the fumbles were trying to stretch a play where the ball could reasonably only bounce out of bounds, and most of his picks were end of the game “try to squeeze this in there or you lose anyways” type plays. Numbers don’t tell the whole story without the context behind them

I haven’t heard it but I’m speaking it into existence. I’m hoping Miami tries and gets Fields. Put Tua on the trading block and see what teams might be interested. See what McDaniel can do with Fields. Fields as a running threat along with what Miami already has. Could be interesting.

As a bears fan if we can get a first for fields im trading him. I love him as a player and a character but it’s rare to get a return on investment on a player. Granted Daniels is my favorite QB prospect i would love to see MHJ at 2/3, Daniels at 9 if Atlanta doesn’t take him, and potentially a safety or a move down from 20 to get some capital down the board. I think this would be a very good chance to save even more money and get even better. Interesting situation for us again just hate the fact we continued to disappoint in certain games this year. Maybe the new regime and rookie class will shake it up
