  • I'm slowly getting back into the studio after my knee replacement a few months back. Since I'm physically limited, I decided it was time to get back to basics and allow myself to just play.
    Using a combination of multiple wooden stamps and the end of a pen, I create a fun pattern on a slab, creating a one-of-kind designer dish.

    Gosh, I so hate to see you in pain! You are such a wonderful trooper and educator! This is a couple months past this video and so hope your pain has lessened a lot more. I too have been going through medical pain and here in Washington state with the cold rain and gloomy days , it doesn't help in the attitude department, so I know what you feel!!! God bless you and keep on playing, and, THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!

    I’m right there with you. I had my hip replaced end of November and I feel so much better but am still limited in what I can do. I have all this pent up desire to do all kinds of projects and feel huge frustration that I really can’t handle any of them yet. I gotta say with the cold gray weather and being unable to do what I want without lots of help I’ve been fighting depression. Hopefully, as I continue PT I’ll get stronger and stronger. The 1st part of recovery, after the major pain lessened, I saw so much improvement so quickly I was thrilled but now it’s the long haul of rebuilding bone and muscle that had been wasting away for years and I am not being patient about it. I want my life back! I bet you do too. We’ll get better and better and when spring comes we’ll be able to do so much more.

    The devotion you show to your channel and the hard time you give yourself do not go unnoticed. What a balancing act! You owe us nothing. We watch your channel because you appeal to us and teach us. However, you have a real life that is more important than this channel. Yet, because of who you are and your dedication to us, this channel, extra stress and responsibility is piled on. As for me, I will keep checking in, but if you are not there, I know you would be if you could be. Heal, recover, take your time. I suppose algorithms, sponsors and such as that put pressure on you to produce, but, those of us who appreciate the content of your videos and what we learn by watching, wish you well, wish for you to heal well and wish you to give yourself a break.

      @hobblecreekpottery  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Ah, thank you. It's interesting how much I get out of sharing, and having the channel helps me push myself so that I can get into the studio more. It's actually been a blessing for me. But yes, if I need more downtime, I'll take it. Making pottery is the best medicine, for my mental health especially. ❤️

    Sorry to hear you're having a rough time with your recovery period being so incredibly frustrating. Patience is hard when you've got the drive to get things done!! Have you considered putting anti-fatigue mats on your studio floor? It might help a little with the stress of standing. I have a small one that I use when standing during hand building. It does make a difference for me; less foot, leg & back pain from standing for so long. But it's not a replacement for giving your knee enough time to recover properly, so take care not to overdo it! Thanks for sharing, Tiffinie!

I don't think any of us think, "oh, it's Saturday at noon .. there should be a new video!" Point being, don't worry about the timing of your videos.
