Tried it and works great. Thank You!!!
Awesome! Been using mine for years at this point
KILLER SOLUTION!!!
Its worked well for the past few years, and by removing two screws I can put it back to looking "stock" in a few minutes, the rubber inlay covers the hole I drilled for the cords.
Great job! Seems like a solid mount that’s not permanent
Yupp I'm really happy with it - real quick to take out if necessary and super stout.
Holy workshop Project Batman...Lol
???
That's great . I will have to do that. Thank you sir.
Share a photo if you do!
@@GanderFlight yes sir I will. It will be different. I have a Chevy
good job .............................wow you are quite an inventor!
Necessity breeds invention! Thanks for watching !
Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
I think this was a great idea and the first DYI one I have seen so thanks for taking the plunge. :) I wonder if there will be any wear over time to the top of the dash from the metal?
I think I am going to do a very similar setup, thanks again!
To bad they don't make the suction cup mounting pad in a trim-to-fit size. Then you could just cover the entire thing.
You could always add a thin layer of foam to the underside as a buffer against damage.
@@GanderFlight I did just that. I picked up a couple of the large square self-adhesive furniture grip pads and cut them to fit the part which touched the dash. Funny thing is that I've decided not to use the mounting plate. This past week we had a trip though my mounting disks didn't arrive in time. I decided to just try and mount the suction cups to the flat gray sections on either side of the storage pocket on top of the dash. This worked great and my TPMS just sat in the dash storage pocket like it always had in the past. :)
@@adame924 Nice! Glad the suctions cups held onto the dash well for you!
Magnet setup might be smaller, no worries about suction cups
Magnets are a definite option too! That's what I love about the flexibility of this dash mount.
Scott, do you have or know of any videos with the magnet setup?
*We don't have a Truck. Trying to find a phone holder I can also use as a dash cam* Sharon in SC
I like the iOttie One Touch for a general phone holder - you can attach it to the dash or to the windshield. amzn.to/3qsLIuX
Very interesting set up there
Thank you 🙏
Gander Flight ur very welcome my friend
This is a fantastic video, genius idea! I'm sticking with the $35 metal bracket from Bulletpoint. Are you using any dashcams with this mount? I'm trying to find one that will fit, most of the cams have suction mounts (that could be retrofitted for something like this), however the video would be upside down. Curious if you found a solution!
I’m running a dash cam at the top of the windshield off a suction mount- gives the best view over the hood
I wish my old Subaru would have had this kind of arrangement on the dash, I hate mounting things off the windshield.
👍 Windows work too though :)
@@GanderFlight I hate mounting things to the glass, they eventually fall off. I've relocated all my devices off glass (radar detector, dash cam)
I'd never do this to my car, unless it has a place in Mad Max movie 🙂
Thats the beauty - nothing permanent was done to this vehicle.
What year is this truck?
2017 Ram 2500
I guess it's an OK idea but we pay WAY too much for trucks nowadays. I for one am not drilling holes in a $50k truck. You had me till I saw that.
If you don't care about seeing the cables there is no need to drill any holes at all. You could also run a long cable around the sides of the dash or up from the firewall too - lots of ways to accomplish this without drilling.
Watch out for all those pesky power and air bag wires!
Absolutely spot on!
That is the dumbest thing ever! Take a nice truck and mount a steel plate to the dash? For $39 you could have bought a phone holder with charging capabilities. Maybe if there was a zombie apocalypse I would do that but man in 2020? Whatever floats your boat I guess!
$39 for a phone holder doesn't help mount the GPS and the TPMS monitor though.
Bill, i thought this was pretty good. Do you have any videos on your setup? Or the setup you’d suggest?
