    The panel analysis was fascinating - 1 nit is really good to see for old tech. The ABL was always a problem, as the screens can look patchy when you see sections brightning up

      Yeah they have updated some of the interface in this panel to help compensate. It’s clever

    technically its not going to break any records or win awards, but these W OLEDS were always decent for the day. solid cheap option

    There are a lot of issues with WOLEDs that people wont remember, and it hasnt really changed with this screen. For the money though its not too bad

    Really loved this review, very positive but covered all the problems these early panels have, I had one and loved it tbh. tech has moved on, but there are really no bad OLEDS

    For gaming - OLED is the way to go, the other issues wont annoy most people tbh, but i appreciate the detail in key areas

    the inherent capabilities of oled overrides the issues. At this price point a WOLED will be a fantastic first introduction for people who never had an oled. Fantastic pricing

    3 year warranty burn in - thats pretty good, was surprised they would offer that, especially on a budget panel like this one

    I wasnt too bothered, the text issues seem a bit poor, but the gaming aspects and getting pure black looks incredible to me. I am really interested in this

    If the HDR was better this would be a superb gaming monitor - the setup looks massively out based on the results

    viewing angles of an OLED are amazing - if thats important to you, great if you run 3 at angles which I used to do a lot for work

    Uniform bright mode is a clever add on - I had one of these WOLED panels and that issue was always a concern for me - glad they added that on and it seems to work a bit

    Wow, your calibration on the panel was amazing, turned it from something average to brilliant ! why dont they apply these out of the factory a bit better??

      A lot of it would depend what colour space you are using - if an OLED like this came calibrated to sRGB like the results I showed, it would look relatively desaturated compared to its native wide gamut

    Really good value. You wonder though are they clearing old stock they have had for a long time and trying to make it look sexy when it’s just old tech. Oleds should be well under 500 already in my view

    Thanks for the analysis. Always good to get technical background on what is good and reasons way it might not work for someone. That text issue is the biggest one for me. Hard to tell how it looks with me in front of it but zoomed in it looks hideous.

    I am very happy with this panel, the tech might be a few years old but the image is still great. I cant say I even notice the fringing on the text - maybe it would be more obvious if I saw a new OLED

    I just bought a Corsair OLED - cost a fair bit more than this - but im very happy with the quality - huge step up from my previous TN panel I had for years

    That rear is a bit messy looking, but I guess you dont look at it when its running - overall seems like not a bad purchase - especially for people who want their first OLED

    It’s a clever business decision to offer this at the price. Great stepping stone for a lot of people. Buy this. Keep it for a few years. Then upgrade to a new oled 🍺

      1st monitor WOLED really isn't that old, the first 1440p models came out around 18 months ago

    That uniform brightness is a useful feature get annoyed with weird brightness fluctuations you get depending on window size.

    These first gen LG OLED panels are not bad. I still have one in a bedroom I use from time to time - technology have moved on - I would try and wait a year for prices to drop on new tech

    Been using this monitor for months with no real complaints, 240hz OLED at 1440p is very reasonable at its price fitting within the market segment quite well.

    Did your test monitor get hot to the touch Dominic? I had one of these and returned it, it was really so hot after 1 hour of use in my room. I dont even live somewhere hot

    The OSD is really naff - but its not a deal breaker - pretty good idea to sell this old tech to people who want a deal and get into the OLED market

    I would not touch this screen now, it has a lot of problems. Mine failed and I never replaced it, fought to get my money back

    Thanks for the review! Actually not that bad of a monitor solely due to the price, especially in AU/NZ :)
    One thing that annoys me about this monitor is that I can't have it run the pixel compensation/cleaning after 16 hours (or if the display is in standby/off). So it gets kinda annoying every 4 hours lol

    Its a good screen, and while its an OLED< there are some great screens around the same price, or a little more like some QD OLEDs too for around 700-800 bucks

    I have so many things id rather upgrade becore the monitor but thid price is getting better and better. Maybe in 5 years theyll start to become mainstream and be price just a bit over the ips counterparts. Oled is incredible there is no doubt.

    This looks like it'd be quite a step up from my current TN panel (HP 27XQ, i think).
    I had an OLED TV for about 5 years. During that time, it never suffered from burn in, as i was very vigilant. I would hope that this panel is not particularly vulnerable to it IF one takes good care of it. 🙂

    Pixel shift etc doent work to prevent burn in. Any game which has the same info in the same area is going to burn the image into the screen eventually.

      that's effectively average colour temperature, testing over a range from black to grey to white. 6500k is the standard, above is cool and below is warm

    OLED is getting close to the price point where I won't care about burn in. I think below $400 is that magic number for me, where I will just enjoy the monitor and just accept that I will have to replace it sooner than an LCD.
