Chris O'Dowd is great in everything he's in. I'm so glad to see him in the lead of his own series, and it looks very interesting and unusual. I hope it's a success. Chris O'Dowd definitely deserves it.
I’m 60+ and have never shown any potential. It would bother me, but I was blessed with an over abundance of Sloth. Sloth has enabled me to spend my days puttering around, accomplishing little, with a guilt free conscience.
It’s great several years ago a family friend showed part of an episode to my dad and me. In 2018 my dad was having a bunch of health problems. He’s ok now. But in 2018 he was in and out of the hospital a bunch. And I said to my mom let’s check out the it crowd. It was so great to be able to laugh at such a difficult time. We watch the complete series like 3 times a year. And it’s always just as hilarious!
Came back here to say that it's a good tv series. It's thought provoking, has some silly stuff in it but then again, humans are innately silly so it makes sense, and it's well, nice. It's relaxing and makes you feel kind of sentimental too. Looking forward to the next season as there was a massive cliffhanger in the last episode.
I realized at 45 that I had missed my opportunity to realize my potential. I was too caught up trying to live a 'normal' adult life, a home, a mortgage, medical insurance, a job, a family. It doesn't leave much time or money for the inspiring stuff. I used to be a musician, I used to try new things for the sake of trying new things. But if you want to be taken seriously as an adult, everything you do has to make you money, or it's a "waste of time". The hard part isn't doing what you're meant to do. The hard part is finding out what that is and having the resources to try enough things to know.
Pfft 45 isn't too old for anything. My mum did part time jobs for 30 years while raising a family and then went back to school and trained as a nurse at 50 because it was what she always wanted to do. The only real barrier to doing things when you're older is giving up and never trying.
Robot_spider - Not true, you didn't miss the opportunity to realize your potential, You can still do it, achieve it and make it happen. At 45 you have much more clarity and live experience which you have earned and accumulated. Yes, money is important, and we all need money to get through life, but money is not the be-all/end-all of our lives. You might want to make a re-assessment as far as your statement above: Everything you do has to make you money, or it's a "waste of time". That's not true. Sometimes in life we are looking outside of ourselves and we ask these questions about ourselves and our potential. But the other thing you need to consider is that as we are looking outwards, others are looking outwards, and are looking at us as well. Much of our potential is what kind of person we have become, and what others think of us, and that other people, family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc. - they might very well value us, and they very well can think the world of us, as we also think the world of them. It's not all about how we only see ourselves. Potential is measured by many other things that many times, we can't see at that particular time or moment. The word Potential also intertwines with the word Success. Find Ralph Waldo Emerson's definition of success, read it, and try to keep that in mind. Sometimes the reality is that we are too tough on ourselves, and we can judge ourselves way too harshly. Go easy on yourself. If you start working towards something on a regular basis, you can make some great progress. Now that you have this awareness, make time for yourself - even if it's just a small amount of time every day or a few times a week, and what's important to you and start the discovery process again.
agreed! I love it when a show is not filled to the brim with big Hollywood names that are impossible to ever make look down to earth. but instead with this show everyone seems very realistic like that could be your english teacher and his family or your fellow students etc... i love it!
Unfortunately the way I see it is once you reach your ultimate potential you will have nothing better to strive toward. Life is about trying to better yourself, but if you know you can get no better wouldn't you stagnate? Its better to not know and have hope of a better life than know you're at your best and have no hope of anything better.
I like Chris O'Dowd but that is a very strong Irish accent for a (presumably) American character. Then again it never hurt Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sean Connery.
That's where the movie ends, he decides to look at the card and it cuts to black, and then rolls the credits... The ending of this trailer, will most likely be the ending to the actual film, lol.
I've never been very fond of my name, Dustin, but after watching this, I realize it could have been much worse. Who names their kid Dustard? It's like dusty custard or something.

The line 'i don't know if im happy, ive never had to think about it' is the closest to an answer for true happiness ive ever heard.
It can be seen as either very peaceful of an answer or a very sad one
It reminds me of the main character in the book Fahrenheit 451, he didn't know if he was happy because he never thought about it.

Chris O'Dowd in various media saying "That's fun" needs to be its own magical supercut.
I love Chris O’Dowd’s work. He is truly an underrated actor.
I love Chris O‘ Dowd. Please give him more big juicy starring roles. Oscar for O‘Dowd!
This looks good. I somehow relate a whole lot to being 40 with no discernable purpose.

It good. He so funny in it. It's about an girl group that singing for the soliders in Vietnam and he like their manger.

A Chris O'Dowd series with Donovan on the soundtrack, yes!!
Such a good tune.

Donovan: "Hurdy Gurdy Man", 1968.
Student" What about your Mr Hubert, what do you want to be?" Replies "I want to be big" and goes to the 2023 version of the zoltar machine.
LOVE this actor and the idea as well as the series looks very interesting!

Chris O'Dowd - I'm in!
it’s like someone made a film from a Facebook quote! 😗
Love Chris since the IT Crowd!
Awesome
This is like the fourth movie Apple TV announced
"Hurdy gurdy man" will always belong to Zodiac, imho.
"I'm very sure that's the man who shot me".
The song has me.... Donavan
Just here for the John Prine reference in the title!
I imagine the big reveal is his card says "Teacher". Which in my mind is the highest of callings.
Ok fine, I'm in!
chrissy my boy
I will definitely skim the wiki when this has ended.
The Mighty Monarch!
Thank God something exciting to watch. Lol
I feel like the writers took a look at the book "Machine of Death" and spun it a bit. Looks interesting.
I was just going to write the same thing.
Ive actually got a sneak peak into this it's all sunshine and rainbows until the main character finally sees his and it says Antichrist.
Bet his card says that he's the imaginary friend of a child growing up in Boyle in the late 80s/early 90s.
Based on my experience, that morpho machine would probably just pop out a question mark when it comes to me, as if even it doesn't know.
The big door prize is good to see as a comedy
but its not a comedy is it? its one writers mid life crisis!

When is Chris O'Dowd going to play director Steven Spielberg in a movie?

reminds me of the box but without the deaths

Apple TV+ is often ignored when talking about streaming services but they put on some interesting stuff that isn't all aimed at 17 year-old kids.
Here's a thought: you won the lottery for getting to live peacefully unlike most human life and that is as good as it gets.
This show reminds me of Life is Strange, even the music sounds a bit similar
"Healer. A sign to engage in self healing."
So is this character based on Jada Pinkett Smith?
LMAO!
As if he’s just turning 40. I turn 40 in December
Has he tried turning the machine off and on again?

Americans don't have one accent.
We have almost all the accents.
Ya know there's been a lot of immigrants for the last 500+ years?
Ill bet he's not supposed to be American but an Irish immigrant.
Where was it implied that he was supposed to be American? I don't think he does American accents, he just plays characters from Ireland in America.
Looks like this will not be sticking to the book very closely. Could still be good though.
I gotta say Apple TV is really knocking it out of the park with the shows it's producing these days. Netflix look like amateurs by comparison.
the weirdest thing about this trailer is that the main character is 40.
I miss the days of Boston Legal when we were allowed to see old people.
In some ways this reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode “Nick Of Time”.
One of the young Shatner episodes!
I bet you $1m that that final shot of him opening his card is the last 2 seconds of the last episode of the season. 😒
I wonder if he will suggest turning the Morpho off and on again.
