I have something similar in my garden. It took about 1 month that the birds found out that there was food in it.
Just one little curious bird once ventured and found food, and minutes later the news spread and we had several birds fighting for an available place to feed.

I have a more basic bird table in my garden, will have a go at this now :) BTW everyone, it is VITALLY important that you continue to feed the birds during the winter months. They will use energy coming to your table to feed, and if they find nothing there because "it was too cold to go out and do that" it could well weaken them to the point that they will die. Feed the same time every morning when they need feeding the most, and don't forget fresh water too :)

I think the birds will feel too enclosed - more open space is needed so they can fly away when danger (cat) is approaching... and the location is too close to the stairs for the same reason... I wish you a lot of passion, or hang it elsewhere!

Not everyone has. So it would be helpful.
Peter, it's one to use hard numbers, it's also different to create (learn) from one's own design. Start on a piece of paper or blank of wood. Map it out, dry fit and you'll have the vision of your own design. Experiment, try what your minds eye sees, change and fabricate. There are basic principles, there aren't any hard and fast rules beyond common sense safety.
@@Daniel-gi3jo Yes there are hard and fast rules. As I said in the previous comment, there is an on line table for compound miter angles. It’s geometry, so the rules are hard and fast.
