"Here I am, and I want to take a hit of your scent 'cause it *bit* so deep into my soul." I have the album with the lyrics written by the Jenkster, himself. And, yes it is "vampires." It's a dark song at face value, but if you stop to think about it, in my opinion, it either has an underlying impending tragedy, or is simply about the pair so deeply interconnected that come death there wil lbe no regrets about what they have/had together. "Send me all your vampires" Vampires in mythology are scary, bloodthirsty monsters and/or seductresses in the night, and I think the line speaks to not hiding the darker parts of one's soul from the other person. Just because I've experienced this myself. From someone I love from whom we share even the ugly parts of our lives.
SonataEternus wow, very cool what you said... you nailed it! I experienced this with some wonderful lady that, sadly, just passed away. I wonder every single day if I will even be that close to another woman again.
@@OMGWUNSIU great interpretation. And never lose faith that a love that impacts on you every level, possibly even levels you weren't you even aware of, will come again. I too was internally despondent that maybe feelings that wonderful, complete, and fulfilling for a woman would never come again. But it does.
I think 3EB is one of the most underrated bands of our lifetime. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but their ability to create a complete piece of music (the sounds, the words, the feel, the balance) is unmatched in my opinion. Every song on this album is frickin' POWERFUL and speaks to something in a way that's difficult to really put into words. Not to mention the avalanche of nostalgia that it evokes, jeese.
Gave this album on CD to my crush on Christmas Eve with a shit-ton of vintage clothing. I hope she remembers that night for the rest of her life. That is all. 🎄💿💞
Back in the old days there was an advertisement sent to my house via mail where you could buy so many albums for a few cents. I randomly picked a few artists. T3B was one of them. It was love at first sound.

I love how intellectual they are for being "third eye blind" they're my favorite fucking band, and I love the line "there will be no regrets when the worms come, and they shall surely come" 💖
This album was and still is beautiful 25 years later. 14 year old me is in love with it the way I am now. Listen to it yearly, sometimes monthly. Poetic writing with great music.
Brad Smith Thx man, that is a great show! Never heard of it before till I read your post! I really thought 3EB would have staying power but like a lot of 90s bands they kind of fell into obscurity. I don't know what's big nowadays because I don't listen to anything past 2000 or so. lol
Incredible song. Means everything to my girl and I. Really bittersweet tune. Its true. There will be no regrets when the worms come. And they shall surely come. Lotta truth here.
trust me jasmine they are better than ever now, i’ve seen them twice now (this year and last) and the new line up is so good, they sang this song this year in manchester and it was wonderful, try and see them live you won’t regret it
this song makes me wish that I could step into a time machine and go back to when this song just came out knowing what I know I beleive I would have made some different choices but it's all good it would be sweet to be in my twenties again though
My wife made me go see them at the Fox in Atlanta in '99 and then at the Fillmore in SF in 2000. I knew why ; ), so I didn't even WANT to like them. But the music is just too damn good. 12 years later the live shows are still memorable and this entire album is unforgettable. Well played Mr. Jenkins...well played.
My friends always ask what this song is when it comes on my playlist. I tell them they probably have it on CD and didn't even realize it. The last four tracks on this album are easily the strongest instrumental and lyrical pieces in the 3EB catalog.
Fun fact. This song was based on the Puck and Natty (SJ’s early 90s hip hop group) song called “Sky Blue”. Instead of “yeah you do, you do, you do, you keep my sky blue” turned into “I want you”. I personally love this song. It feels like it’s from another dimension. It’s full of reverb and haunting echoes. Eric Valentine the producer plays electric guitar on it. It’s hard to reproduce this song live because the production on the record is what makes it sound as magical as it does. Stephen Jenkins: A song like [spare, dreamy ballad] “I Want You,” nobody showed up to the studio that day - the recording sessions took three months - so it was just me and Eric that day and he said, “What do you want to do today?” I built a a loop and we just kind of put it together, and it had this feeling of being a throwaway - it has the most free and easy sense to it. It’s just me picking around in the studio. I had a talk box where in between I would yell things. “That was a really good sound” - that stayed on record, me yelling into that box.
First album takes me back to my college days. Second album reminds me of my first girlfriend who bought it for me as a gift and listened to it with me over and over. I agree. A vampire by definition SUCKS the blood from you like a leach. Therefor- it feeds off of you. In a sense, the lyrics refers to his acceptance of her sucking the "life" from him as long as it benefits her....

"I Want You"
The suckers loose themselves
In the games they learn to play
Children love to sing but
Then their voices slowly fade away
People always take a step away
From what is true
That's why I like you around
I want you
Oh you do you do...
You make me want you
An open invitation to the dance
Happenstance set the vibe that we are in
No apology because my urge is genuine
And the mystery of your rhythm is so feminine
Here I am and I want to take a hit
Of your scent cause it bit so deep into my soul
I want you
Yeah, you do you do...
You make me want you
Oh you do you do...
Send me all your vampires
I want you
And I can't get enough, oh I can't get enough
And I can't get enough
The village church yard is filled with
Bones weeping in the grave
The silver lining of clouds
Shines on people Jesus couldn't save
You want to know how deeply my soul goes
Deeper than bones
Deeper than bones
And I can't get enough
Oh, I can't get enough
Oh, I can't get enough
Oh, I can't get enough
After we did it by the window sill
Smoke rings drift into the midnight sky
Presently in the quilt that your mother made
A candle burns to fight off the gloom
I said to live in this way is not for the meek
And like a jazz DJ you talk me into sleep
I said there'll be no regrets when the worms come
And they will surely come
You do you do...
Make me want you
Send me all your vampires
Yeah you do...
Make me want you

Ohhhh this song takes me back to my youth. ♡ God damn great times.
Such great tracks came from this era! Late 90's. Nothing in the Pop or Alternative rock scene today compares. I miss this kind of music.
