I think the actual flight suit is blue, and it looks purple on Geonosis because they probably added a slight reddish/orangeish color filter over the Geonosis scenes in post production.
I would think this was right, but then there are those pictures of it purple not in geonosis. Unless someone put a red filter in the behind the scene pictures and in pictures of the suit standing there on display.
Reminds me of the old Han Solo Hoth jacket mystery. Some said it was blue some said it was brown. Turns out it was both.Harrison Ford wore brown as shown in the behind the scenes blu ray but the puppet of Han that rode the Tauntaun wore blue.
In 2002 (I think it was 2002, maybe 2001 or 2003) Hasbro made a figure of Han on Hoth with both colourways. One with a brown jacket and one with a navy blue jacket, they even made jokes about it in the marketing for the figure.
@@Quirderph Yeah. The 2002 version of the LEGO minifigure is more blue than purple, but again, the figure seems completely blue or a blue that's got a hue of purple depending on the lighting.
Simple as this, whenever they used blue screens they used a purple suit so that it was easier to do the VFX afterwards, and whenever they used green screens they did the dark blue one (they also did this with R2 in EP I and the OT, for example, R2's colors are almost black from the dark blue shade they used so that it wouldn't mess with the blue screens. And then whenever they didn't need false screens, we see the accurate Blue Kaminoan suit that is similar to Boba's and the rest of the clones as seen on EP II when they're dining as Obi Wan supervises. This is why they made three suits.
Yeah it’s a common practice for costumes to have multiple variations due to lighting. As they want certain parts to reflect/fade better in certain lighting conditions. In WWE there was a wrestler who wear a demonic white mask with fake blood on it. In one of the shows he comes out and his mask is mostly just white. Which led to some fans thinking they were censoring it, only for the wrestlers to state “no we just have different masks for various scenarios.”
It looks like it was a blue uniform that's been faded over a long time, therefore I would say that using purple is the best as we don't describe him by the way he's supposed to look but how his uniform actually does look. The faded purple undergarment is part of the uniform.
@@mh2120 That refers to flowers, which can have strange and misleading names. Violet is mostly associated with Purple. Sometimes it's a more Pinkish-Purple, sometimes it's more Blueish-Purple. It just depends. But it's not Blue.
I remember being in the costume shop MANY years ago (circa ~2008) And there was a costume of Jango Fett where his helmet was blue and suit definitely purple. I remember (I was a kid so it probably looked really funny) saying to the owner that this "costume is wrong colour" :D haha
It could honestly be both. When we are on Kamino they are using a green screen so they are able to use the blue jumpsuit. While on Geonosis they were using a blue screen so they had to adjust the suit a bit because it could be a pain to edit blue on blue. That's my thought.
Lore-wise, there could be two explanations. Jango probably changes his flightsuit when he arrives on Geonosis after that nasty business with Kenobi, plus a day or two have passed after the scuffle on Kamino. Another possible theory: perhaps his blue flightsuit appears purple due to discoloration by the red sands of Geonosis… Boba Fett’s flightsuit is a grey blue in Empire Strikes Back, and it is a white grey in ROTJ. These Mandos could be packing several flightsuits Appreciate the video, it’s a question that’s baffled me since 2002 as well
Yeah but Boba’s entire outfit changes even the damage on his helmet is in different spots and in a different painting style in different shots in the same movie in the special edition due to them mixing the ESB and RoTJ outfit. That was continuity being tossed out the window.
It's just simply a indigo/lavender hue. It'll look different based on the lighting. In Geonosis for example, it's very warm so that'll bleed into the blue and make it look more purple, but in a colder colored area it will be blue.
Could it be indigo? If you can’t classify something as blue or purple there’s a good chance it’s probably indigo. But indigo itself is such an undefinable color, which is why it’s my favorite color. Almost nothing is that color because no one can agree on what actually counts as being it
My opinion is that it's a muted blue, color with lavender tones, that looks purple from fading and intentional weathering, with dust and dirt that they've applied to it. Some suits probably weren't weathered, and in Kamino, its in the rain, which would darken the suit from being wet making it look really blue. Geonosis is very dusty, so it'd take it back to purple. I like the faded, purple look personally. Blue makes him look too drab as there's little variation in his color palette at that point. So the faded blue adds a purple hue that gives it some pop.
There were probably color variations in the costume to make it easier to composite. The Kamino scenes with the blue suit were shot against Green screen while the Geonosis scenes with the indigo/purple suit were shot against Blue screen.
One thing I would add, having worked a small bit on Star Trek ship models - that the 'real world' models always look a lot different colour than the on screen appearance - something about the lighting and composition (?) that changes the colours on screen - this is far more pronounced with spacecraft flying around in space, actors in costumes may have a similar effect that the real colour of the material changes once filmed/recorded ? I'd prefer if he was blue which matches the helmet deco.
