    Simple as this, whenever they used blue screens they used a purple suit so that it was easier to do the VFX afterwards, and whenever they used green screens they did the dark blue one (they also did this with R2 in EP I and the OT, for example, R2's colors are almost black from the dark blue shade they used so that it wouldn't mess with the blue screens. And then whenever they didn't need false screens, we see the accurate Blue Kaminoan suit that is similar to Boba's and the rest of the clones as seen on EP II when they're dining as Obi Wan supervises.
    This is why they made three suits.

    It could honestly be both. When we are on Kamino they are using a green screen so they are able to use the blue jumpsuit. While on Geonosis they were using a blue screen so they had to adjust the suit a bit because it could be a pain to edit blue on blue. That's my thought.

  • @TheCatWatches
    @TheCatWatches Před 6 měsíci +24

    Lore-wise, there could be two explanations. Jango probably changes his flightsuit when he arrives on Geonosis after that nasty business with Kenobi, plus a day or two have passed after the scuffle on Kamino. Another possible theory: perhaps his blue flightsuit appears purple due to discoloration by the red sands of Geonosis…
    Boba Fett’s flightsuit is a grey blue in Empire Strikes Back, and it is a white grey in ROTJ. These Mandos could be packing several flightsuits

    It's just simply a indigo/lavender hue.

  • @MatchstickMan
    @MatchstickMan Před 5 měsíci +16

    My opinion is that it's a muted blue, color with lavender tones, that looks purple from fading and intentional weathering, with dust and dirt that they've applied to it.
    Some suits probably weren't weathered, and in Kamino, its in the rain, which would darken the suit from being wet making it look really blue. Geonosis is very dusty, so it'd take it back to purple.
    I like the faded, purple look personally. Blue makes him look too drab as there's little variation in his color palette at that point. So the faded blue adds a purple hue that gives it some pop.

  • @tyjuarez
    @tyjuarez Před 5 měsíci +4

    There were probably color variations in the costume to make it easier to composite. The Kamino scenes with the blue suit were shot against Green screen while the Geonosis scenes with the indigo/purple suit were shot against Blue screen.

    One thing I would add, having worked a small bit on Star Trek ship models - that the 'real world' models always look a lot different colour than the on screen appearance - something about the lighting and composition (?) that changes the colours on screen - this is far more pronounced with spacecraft flying around in space, actors in costumes may have a similar effect that the real colour of the material changes once filmed/recorded ? I'd prefer if he was blue which matches the helmet deco.

We do know jango was one of the best bounty hunters of the era and would most likely have multiple sets of armor, weapons and jet packs for backups. We also know his jetpack blew up on kamino and on geonosis we know he had his jetpack back. He also lost one of his guns during the fight and had both of them in the arena. Proving my point, jango was very smart and always prepared for anything.

    Such a cool detail that I think has always sort of been in the background of my mind; But I never really thought about it until now! I like to think it’s because Jango just likes having different jumpsuits to wear, as with his jetpacks. But besides that, I guess it makes sense that they would make multiple costumes with slight alterations for different scenes. The purple probably just looked best for the Geonosis scenes. That’s just conjecture though, I don’t really know about this stuff.

    My brain mixed them together and my head canon has always been that it’s a indigo sort of color

    this is just an issue of the two colors being very similar and the temperature of the color is just shifting with the lighting of the scene. if you have warmer tones ie orange and red and you light a blue jump suit with it, it will appear purple. i think a separate issue entirely is that the the blue jump suit has aged over time and the dye has worn out and become purple with age. ive had many articles of clothing that when exposed to sunlight or led or florescent lights for too long turn all sorts of funky colors. ive had a pair of black vans turn green. a black hat turn brown. and an od green jump suit that turned pink on the side that was exposed to sunlight in a window. at the time of filming the jumpsuit was likely always blue.

    One thing you have to realize is that they do change the color of clothing and objects to match the expected lighting in scenes.

    It's blue, so basicly this might be a little hard to explain, but there is this thing called a HUE scale, and on that there is both light blue and and dark blue, but that is the only colour on the hue scale where there are both light and dark, green for example only has light green, and to get dark gren you have to adjust the brightness of the colour, and not the hue. The hue of Jango's suit, is dark blue but the brightness is quite high, so that's why it's a diffrent kind of light blue, i tested it out in photoshop, (with the hue/saturation effect) and i found that the colour actually looked quite purple, when you gave the dark blue hue a high brightness, so in conclusion, yes it's blue, but it can appear somewhat purple.

    maybe Jango's suit got stained purple when he threw it in the laundry with the rest of his purple clothes? haha jk

    I know I’m late but I think it depends on if they’re using the blue screen for VFX shots. His suit is blue but they trade it for a slightly purple shade to contrast it with the blue screens. It’s to avoid the similar problem they had in a new hope where R2 was black not blue in a few scenes or like when a weatherman wears green in front of a green screen.

    I think pictures don't do it justice due to how camera optics / colours work compared to naked eye. The only way to really know what colour they are is to see the actual suit(s) in person .

    I like the idea that's it actually both, he uses the blues on planets with colder or rainier climates and purples for desert or hotter climates.

    We cannot be certain of whether Jango is purple or not, but we can be certain that Jango tasted purple in his final moments.
