I’m surprised and impressed by Annie’s forethought in pranking Nene! We can see at 3:03 how Annie sneaks up upon Nene and intentionally jostles the tire swing to distract her just long enough to slap her back.
That entails some pretty advanced thinking to anticipate Nene’s behavior and pull off all those steps: sneak up, distract, slap, run off….
Annie is smarter than I realized!!!

Facial expressions and their own version of sign language. Gorillas are highly intelligent but unlike other primates they are not that vocal so communication happens through gestures
Shabani, Kiyo and Annie are the main examples on this particular group because they talk A LOT without making a sound
I agree completely. Their look and touch is their communication. Ai loves and respects her mother. Nene loves her daughter.
Life with Annie would have been far more intolerable without Ai by her side. So glad she has her daughter.for some sort of comfort.
Well, let’s not forget that Nene can be quite hostile to Ai at times - particularly in the mornings when Ai comes out for breakfast.
For all we know, Annie could be pranking Nene as a way of repaying Nene for her own meanness 🤷🏻♀️

@@sonjavandam1306 she's the daughter...that isn't unusual. When Nene passes, it's going to be interesting if the troop changes. At 52 with what looks like crippling arthritis, she probably doesn't have many years left.

Ai has always loved and shown respect to her mother. I have even seen Ai go after Shabani when he got after NeNe. NeNe loves Ai so much as she does Kiyo. I know NeNe was a nasty old bitty, but she is so old, and crippled I wish they would just leave her alone. But you reap what you sew. Here is a question: Since Annie was born by seceran it has been said that is why NeNe never accepted her, nor Ai when younger. So then why did Shabani always watch her as a baby with the keepers, groom her, always protect her. He wasn't there for the seceran? I have always been curious. Maybe he knew by sense or instinct I don't know. Also I wonder if the keeper who is Annie's favorite ia the one who looked after her as a baby. He was really good with her in the baby videos!!

Annie didn’t really do anything that kiyo hasn’t done to her, she wasn’t hurt. Nene is getting payback for the way she treated Annie, I’m sure that traumatized Annie and she sees what kiyo does to nene and she doesn’t get upset! Kiyo could beat the crap out of nene and she would still have his back! She encourages him to start stuff with shabani and then he runs behind mom and she babies him! Nene will be okay
Yes, and Nene is very fortunate that Ai has such an amiable nature, and doesn’t hold grudges for Nene’s unkind treatment of her at times.
