A fellow Saints fan actually started a thread on a Saints board on an LSU based website talking about Fontenot. He asked if we would be better off with Terry Fontenot over Mickey Loomis. Fontenot use to be in the Saints building. Keep in mind, Saints fans are super annoyed with the way the Saints try and dodge the salary cap. Well, this poor guy got his thread bumped after Fontenot and the Falcons made that pick. I still don't know the answer to the question. People crapped all over the guy, but he has a point!!!!!!!! Loomis has been suspect as hell with the way they use the cap but I doubt he'd be that fucking stupid to make that kind of a pick. But he can't because he's cap strapped.

Always a great episode. Falcons first out for Cousins is early 2027. But remember that Falcons had Brett Favre on the roster, passed on both Aaron Rodgers & Jordan Love. Penix is going to sit 3 seasons behind Captain Kirk who’s showing his humility by making only $62 million in 2024. Falcons are ALL IN that getting a guy ready for 3 years produces a franchise QB. The good news is that Penix can’t get hurt for 3 years except for splinters or calluses on his a$$ from the bench while making $22.38 million total, $13 million signing bonus. So will this be a disaster or does a Penix going on age 30 get his first start?

@@isaiahh4108 Agree. In fact he’s one of the few who probably has the experience to be ready soon. They could’ve picked a QB in 3rd or later round & he’d be ready after 3 seasons. But we shall see what happens.
@@isaiahh4108 Also I feel bad for Penix because he’s going to have to find a way to motivate himself over the next 3 seasons when he’s not playing. At age 24 he might be looking at age 27 before he’s a starter. Vikings don’t really have an out from Cousin’s contract until after the third season. He would’ve been better off being drafted by the Rams.
Sounds like BB puppet. Falcons got Kirk to return to a winning culture while the new coaching staff gets their footing. It’s a price worth paying to protect your 1st round investment.

Nope. Kirk is much more accurate and reads the game at an elite level. Penix needs to work on his accuracy and improve his processing
@@hugeboi3669 None of the QBs just drafted can compete with Cousins on reads & processing. They haven’t taken their first snaps. They’re all basically lumps of clay that have to be molded into NFL QBs. Some won’t be truly ready to even play in 2024. I actually feel bad for Penix because there’s not an out with Cousins’ Falcons contract until after the 2026 season is over. That’s 3 seasons where they have one of the better QBs in the NFL under $45M per season average. For the sake of Penix, I hope that they play him every preseason & in every meaningless game along with any other situation like blowouts so that he keeps improving his game. I hope that he gets enough playing time by the end of season 3 where the Falcons exercise his 5th year option.
Honestly. I believe that Cousins will eventually help him. Cousins came in behind RG3, both in the 2012 draft. No one would have believed us is we’d said RG3 would only have one good season in the NFL & Cousins would go from his backup to starter & make more money than Tom Brady in 2016 & 2017 let alone going on to making the kind of money he’s made & starting in the NFL for the last 10 seasons. Cousins is what the NFL is all about. It’s doesn’t matter where a player is drafted, it matters how he plays & Cousins worked his way into starter & an excellent NFL career.

GREAT PICK Cousins is a gap QB at Best won one Playoff game in his OVER PAID CAREER, and the money for him is nothing compared to what Denver is paying for a QB that is not on the Roster. At least Cousins sorry ass is on the roster
