I like how while talking about having good relations with the pope you show Henry IV
I also find it funny not just for the historical reasons but because in one of my games the A.I. Henry IV executed Duchess Matilda and somehow took Rome itself as a personal fief before he gave it to the Premyslid dynasty, he went the exact opposite direction and decided he didn’t want the pope to be his friend, the difference is this time he was far more successful.
I found that ironic too
So I’m not the only one
Pope is your personal piggy bank
Pope is my homie
@@ozzylepunknown551yeah if you are pious you are set you get funded for wars i was playing as france and a liberty faction rose up i had no money but pope gave 1500 gold and i got mercenaries easy W
I think Pope as Bank in Monopoly Boardgame. Every few years he gives us money.
@@gamingprogamingpro7165*Pope is my homie*
He is your best friend, until you want to conquer Rome. Sorry Pope I need Rome for my reunited Italy decision
I did a playthrough where I made the Pope a super power. I just became his vassal. Took land, gave him land, defended his land. Imperial Church of Italia, was a cool title to see.
Damn, that sounds like a fun run :D
Holy +&-- I didn't think of doing that
This is definetly my next run
thats cool af
The pope out here acting like a sugar daddy
😂 that's how you earn some gold's for improving your direct holdings
You can even seduce him
This gave me an idea. A pope simulator game where your decisions shape the landscape of geopolitics in the ancient world!
But do you know what is greater than being on good terms with the Pope? Being the pope
Facts
Not really, at least in CK3. You can't excommunicate people or buy claims as the Pope, but a Pope who is your friend will give you a hell lot of shit
@@mortachewait you can't excommunicate while you are the pope? that sounds odd
@@mr.serperior7002 are you telling me that you can? Because I haven't played as head of faith for a long time and they could have added it at some point
@@mortache I haven't played the game I mainly play eu4, other paradox games pop up in my feed from time to time. I am saying pope not being able to excommunicate people by themself sounds odd. Even in eu4 ,which has much less refined catholic mechanics, you can do that when you are the pope.
Excommunication can help with bad vassals
Definitely, recently I was able to do that a lot again troublesome vassals
He can’t be my friend if I am him. (Schemes in CK3 byzantine)
Me being the player that completely dismantled the papacy as soon as I warmonger my way into the Vatican lol
It loops perfectly. I love it!
In one of my games as Mathilda of Tuscany Pope was my best friend and father of one of my childs father , you can say my characters child was a blessing from god
It was kinda historical. Matilda of
Tuscany was a close ally of the Church during the Investiture Controversy between Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV and Pope Gregory VII. Henry IV did his famous penance in her castle at Canossa.
The pope is your lover if your playing as an irish earldom
Imprisoning and then vanishing your bishop is also a great way to make money since they often have a lot of them but no family to defend them.
Hey btw, if you start playing as orthodox you can still ask daddy pariarch for cash, but he's a lot more poor and sometimes makes a big fuss about it if youre wealthy.
You can also get you’re vassals excommunicated to have a legitimate reason for a title revocation with no tyranny. Good if you need to land some sons or that one vassal is getting a little too powerful
OMG I love the perfect loop there
Well Heinrich IV wasn't a good friend of Gregor VII and he got excommunicated. It was a time when the church and the king were in a real feud.
That's why I always stay under the skirt of the pope
noted friend of the church Heinrich IV
Tbf i don’t use the request excommunication as much as I should but the money request is always so good
Vassal: just as much as thinks of me as a bad person
*EXCOMMUNICATION IT IS*
Bonus: If you are Insular, you can still ask for gold but, you cannot join crusades.
While you can't recruit the Catholic Holy Orders, you can start your own and they won't be off fighting petty wars in Estonia.
damn boy you how the hell you manage to basically pronounce the vowels in piety backwords
What a funny idea that pope gives you money for piety instead of the normal you giving money to feel pure
“I don’t get it, why would you want to wage war on another Christian kingdom?”
“Because Jesus?”
Wow so you can took an entire kingdom with the help of the pope
Cannot take but weaken it and install a new ruler
I married the popes daughter...
He was a very sinful pope.
But it was very lucrative.
I love using the papcy as my personal piggy bank
"gimme some money pope-daddy"
Sometimes my monthly income gets so high that pope won't have enough money to give me
It happened to me twice
Thx
I was excommunicated as king of Denmark and got back to asatru, then I killed every one lol
Is nobody going to talk about how the same can be done with the ecumenial patriarch? (orthodoxy) I ask my boy for some big bucks and he lends me 400 BILLS
It can be done in all religions with communion.
You can even become the religious leader yourself and collect taxes for your forviveness.
@@molybdaen11 Is it communion or just the existence of a head of faith? Cause I'm pretty sure some buddhists can ask for gold too
@@zenmastakilla I think it must be a reformed religion with a head of faith.
I do not know about Buddhist, had been a while since a united India.
I must get a viking koi tattoo
Game is fun but can’t figure out how to go from tribal to the next fase
I didn't know Slavoj Zizek started playing CK3
lmao
honestly any holy war to take egypt in byzantium is ezy win
Bro I hated the pope so much I became orthodox then he gave away claims too (at both times I was a paragon of virtue) so I just made a new church, mended the great schism and now they're both in trouble. Also I dismantled the papacy 😊
Nice 👍
i started my own religion with myself as the head of faith and now i can’t escape indulgences, i have 40,000 gold and don’t know what to do with it
It's such a Shame to see the pope lost all his influence in modern age 💔
Can somebody please tell me what the song in the background is called?? please ..
I love how limited videos are about playing this game. Everyone covers this subject, and only seems to play 1066... ugh
Yeah but you need be friends with him, which is hard to get
What's the difference between a pressed and unpressed claim ?
Pressed are passed on with inheritence. Unpressed die with you
I United all of the Christian faiths under the orthodox.
Replace the Pope with the Ecumenical Patriarch and everything still applies.
cringe

Catholics are a bit overpowered in ck3 lol. If development is well in Rome and you remember to go on pilgrimages, then the ask for gold can get up to 1500.
A free 1500 gold once a yearish is ridiculous and let's you snowball
like seriously, who needs to play tall when you can just siphon 1544 gold from your pope every few years?
I once got excommunicated, converted to Islam then slaughter Rome.
Must better when you are from tribe, some where near Feodal , you can rob them 24/7.)
Didn't ask
The Best use of the Pope is not being dependend on this "patriarch of the city of Rome" and instead b a Based amd redpilled Orthodox King
"peeatea"
where does him from
I destroy him every time and create my own religion under the catholic branch of the games restriction to redo a religion lmao
PITY
OR
Become the pope yourself so your followers will pay you to cleanse their sins from their souls.
Here come the tax returns 💰 🤑
CK3 is an easy game. Playing as a catholic is childs play. In my current game I have all of Europe in my domain as well as most of Scandinavia and the Byzantine empire. When the Abbasid caliphate inevitably collapses I'll have absolutely no external threats that could even come close to challenging me. So far I've not had any revolts to deal with, I've only used men at arms in wars, I'm ahead of everyone in technology and development and I have over 100k gold in my coffers. This game desperately needs a proper hardcore mode. Being the most powerful ruler in the world within 3 generations makes the game boring and pointless.
Catholicism is best.
Hahahaha may i ask....are you swedish?!??
When you ex communicate you're first son so the second can take control. 🫣
