The Island is all rock. very difficult messy and expensive to dig. Second the method parbucking is a proven marine salvage method - with this method it is just a matter of engineering calculating the weights and forces needed. Third it is in shallow protected waters allowing the use of divers to construct the platform and the underwater rigging. Working inside a wreck is extremely dangerous and slow vs working in the open underwater. Trust me I was one of those working divers for 11 years.
With parbucking the problem is always having sufficient strength and number of anchoring points with the rock the problem is easily solved and using proven oil well drilling and proven tieback rock drilling methods again it is just a matter of strong enough anchoring methods
why they did not digs under the land side of the ship put four or five columns and after that digs the whole land side and lets the rest to the water to do it's magic lifting this huge ship of course after fixing it's holes, instead of guttering this quantity of huge machinery to site and for environment argue it is will take it's time to recover.
