Picked one up at Costco for $50 for my son. After playing around with it, I went back and bought one for myself. I really dig it.

Shit I ve been thinking about buying this product for couple of months now but main reason that always held me back was pricetag of 100$… I go to costco like once a week and I never saw it there for 50$… fuck 😂 u got lucky man. If I get lucky and see it there for half price I’m definitely buying without hesitation.

To improve lag on PS remote play you can go into the apps settings and lower the resolution and/or frame-rate at any time
My mom ordered this for me yesterday as a present for college and I’m looking forward to it a lot after seeing this review, I have an iPhone 14 Pro and the screen is really nice on it and I use steam link on my iPad Pro a lot with a ps4 controller so I thought this would be even better since it basically turns my phone into an actual handheld, I prefer handheld gaming a lot more than other things where it’s applicable, thanks for the review!

I just want to point out that this does work with a case. In fact, it works with a fairly thick case on my galaxy s24 ultra, you just need to remove the phone cuffs on either side, which are attached by magnets. Once removed, this easily will fit most phones with a case.
you might have the version 2 that was updated to fit cases better

I decided to buy a gaming phone for my Backbone to keep me from using my main phone constantly taking off the case.

I bought two back bones one for me and one for my daughter lol unfortunately they were 100.00 each but she’s happy, and she’s excited that I can play games with her on it, her bday present from me and a few ps5 games thanks for the video❤️

i found one at goodwill for 5$ today... i downloaded COD and am completely destroying everyone. its like they cant feel the screen as well as i can feel the limits of the controller and its a blast im not going to lie. feels like hax L0L
I'm two months into owning the same one but for android, have a slim case attached to phone when using so thats a bonus.
Love this thing and really like the backbone app, keeps everything organized, not paying for it yet as free for early android adopters right now.
Xcloud works great, geforce now is also surprisingly good, ps remote play is prob the most laggy but still playable and super good for my android gaming like codm or diablo.
Purchased a set of Skull & Co Thumbstick grips that takes it to next level.
Will see how it goes for the next six months and how it holds up.
Which thumb grips fit on the backbone sticks?
i love my backbone xcloud is amazing i use 5g if im not on wifi and it still runs great no lags and the resolution is crisp

Just bought one for prime day for 69 bucks (nice). Putting in a different adapter (included) allowed me to keep my case on.
If I didn’t already own a Steam Deck, I would be all over this thing.
Nice getting the backbone to take out of the house than the playstation portal cause it's more convenient and the price is well worth it.

I have a disconnection problem with my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It keeps disconnecting every game and even to a point where iPhone displayed an error on screen : accessory not supported. Not happy.

Bought the PlayStation one to use with my S23 Ultra-without the Case-Mate case I bought on. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 with me. Also using mine with a Vivo and OPPO phone plus my Motorola Edge 30 Neo (with the case on).
How do we get full Playstation 4 and 5 support without the middle thumb pad? Do they implement a button in place of that on this? Otherwise it's virtually impossible to play nearly all Playstation games. Just was curious to how they get around that.
You probably just have to touch the screen twice to hit the touchpad.
I had this question before I got it, there are virtual buttons and joysticks that show up when you tap the screen. But you can choose to hide them and the ui when playing with the backbone
I just got it today and i love it. Also i have a Zelda phone case and it works with my controller.
Picked one up yesterday on Amazon for $75. Played for 15 minutes, and returning. Screen is waaaaaay too small for my old eyes and I have a Pixel 8 Pro. Do not buy this if you have problems with your vision for sure. You thought small text was bad on a Steam Deck? Games are virtually unplayable here if you have to read anything.
I personally prefer using joycons with a 3D printed rail and fixture

How is the feel on the hands? does it feel a little small that you have to bend your thumb to reach a button?
I have medium-sized hands and it DOES feel a little small but nothing super uncomfortable or anything

Much better than the switch. But not as good as a real controller. It is a great in-between.

If LTT reviewed this product. Opps we had the phone upside down when trying to put it in. If we had a hard time putting it in, we can only imagine how hard it would be for an average user 🙃 wouldnt reconend based on that manufacturer oversight.
I wanted to get the controller but the added plastic stuff for the 13 pro max due to the camera bump, has the phone seated in an angle which I do not like.
It comes with a rubber adapter pice in the box or u can order one for free from website I had same problem till I seen the adapter

Not hating on it but what’s the difference between this and buying a $10 clip for my controller so my phone fits on it and remote play that way? Especially since Sony updated their remote play app so that controllers will vibrate. Is it just for Xbox stuff or are people really that into mobile gaming?

@@ssjgGogeta but it’s not wired directly to the console. The only latency that this would be negating is the input from the controller to the phone, which is an improvement, but doesn’t eliminate the latency from the phone receiving inputs, to the console, then the console output
The difference is that the PS5 controllers have an issue with button mapping. Personally, I get crap input from the left analog, which as you'll understand is the primary means of moving any character in most games, making anything unplayable. I have searched the issue online and others are finding that entire buttons don't register.
Connecting the controller via Bluetooth gives you no mapping tools, no deadzone adjustment, so if the controller doesn't work, it just doesn't work.
So the difference is that the Backbone actually fucking works.

I think I'll get this, my kishi v1 doesn't charge on my new phone and i just have a deep seated preference for the ps symbols.. also like the headphone jack, it seems more ergonomic than the razer.. hope it'll fit my super long Xperia 1v

Got one today and I really want to like it but I feel like returning it already. Definitely not worth the full price; no rumble, no adaptive triggers, don’t like the loud clicks buttons. I think I would prefer to just get one of those phone mounts for the PS5 controller because I prefer the feel of the DualSense controller. Also the Backbone doesn’t have a button for the Touchpad which is annoying. I will gladly take the free Apple Arcade and Game Pass trials that I got with it but I really got it to play PS Remote Play, so I would rather take that $100 and put it towards a Playstation Portal that I would probably enjoy more.

I’m debating on buying this one or the standard one but I heard the PlayStation one you can ONLY use PS play and backbone app but on the black standard you can play Xbox, ps, steam, and backbone…. Is this true? This is a huuuge difference if so, it’s almost like what’s the point of getting this one over the standard one, especially for the same price.
Version 2 does limit you to PS app unfortunately. The one in this video is V1 and let’s you play anything. I wouldn’t recommend the current PlayStation backbone they’re selling
Are you sure? I saw the gen 2 on amazon and it clearly states it supports everything(xbox game pass, ps remote play, geforce now, steam link, xbox remote play etc)
@@danilonden3782i bought the black controller (xbox version?) and it allows you to use everything. It allows you to play console games through xbox cloud streaming. It seems for the PS games like the last of us, you are only able to play through remote play. Therefore you need a PS5 to connect to for either controller.

I just bought the bought the black version of this controller, and i can play console games like fifa 23 through the xbox cloud streaming on my phone, but playstation games like the last of us doesn’t work. Sony is really losing market here. They should make one of these that is fully compatible with the ps5 and an app so that you can use your phone as an external screen for whatever you are playing on your ps5... For example in shooting games your phone could show you a carousel of weapons, etc. C',mon Sony.

When Wii U did that, developers didn't use it. It probably wouldn't be used much.
It's been tried and it failed. There was a short mileu where games had "companion apps" like GTAV did at launch, but just like the Wii U, it's an unintuitive gimmick that didn't catch on

The white one looks nicer but if most things default to the Xbox buttons then for the sake of ease of use I’d go for the black one haha.

I just got it. And I'm immediately returning it. The reason why is because it stayed stuck on waiting for ps remote play. All my stuff is relatively close to each other. So maybe I got a dud?... Don't care no more.
The PS Remote Play app is garbage.
I got the back bonebone and going to return it idk why they put one analog stick up and the other one down i cant play call of duty like that i cant aim i cant barely get one kill with this controller it look nice but its too expensive maybe like $40 not $100
