    Dean, thank you for the video. Had to replace some o-rings on mine and this was really helpful as of giving me the idea, how much work this will be and seeing that one does not need any special tools for the dis- / reassembly. So the second live of my GBH 5-40 DE has just started 🙂

    Hiya Dean get yourself a Victorinox Classic SD it's the smallest of the Swiss army knives ideal as keychain knife.
    The tweezers are brilliant on them.
    Love the videos keep em coming man.

    Dean I use a sharpish knife, and drag it sideways across your skin. (Plainly not a cutting stroke) just rest the blade length vertically against the skin with one hand and scape it across the splinter. try and note which way the splinter is going in and drag the opposite way ie not pushing it in. The sharp blade edge catches the splinter and pulls it out. It works surprisingly well. The blade shouldn’t be so sharp that it cuts your skin when pressed against it, rather like most of my veg knives in my cutlery drawer!

    Don't know about knipex tweezers, but a nice sharp unused pair of electronic super knips sidecutters will usually grab those buggers, IF you can see them that is.
    I expect you will repair that poor transformer next ;-)

    Dean,
    You do a great job at fixing the tools - no question about that. But I must say, you’ll absolutely ruin that yellow transformer inside the door if you don’t stop that carry on.
    Any chance of a workshop tour video?
    Also, are you self-taught or do the manufacturers give classes in how to diagnose & repair?

      I actually already have a degree in mechanical engineering. So was able to pick this up pretty easily.
      I do believer some brand do run training courses.
      I was at the makita center in Glasgow once for brushless motors and 4 stroke engine update. But I was able to teach them more than they could teach me.

      @@deandohertygreaser ah… that explains it. I’ve the same degree but I’m the kind that ends up with a jar of
      Leftover screws and washers :-)
      That tip about self-tappers into plastic was a terrific one.

    I’m just thinking, I have the Hitachi DH40MC SDS Max Hammer Drill and boy it gets some stick and it’s never missed a beat.
    Do you think them Bosch machines are a bad design, as you’ve done a load of them now.
    Cheers

      No bosch make some of the best hammers. We sell mainly bosch hammer in the shop and I am the service agent for bosch and makita, so going to get a lot in. I regularly service bosch hammers and tools that are 20 years old and used every day.

    • @stuart6973
      @stuart6973 Před rokem

      I’ve only had a couple of Bosch machines in the shop before and there still going strong, but mainly get dewalt 18v and hitachi 240v stuff. I own a engineering workshop over in the Scottish Borders and the lads hammer the hitachi grinders and they just keep going 😂
      Really enjoy your channel Dean. Keep it going 👍🏻👍🏻

    Dean, Would a STRONG Neodymium Magnet be any good to remove those little metal shards?

    • @deandohertygreaser
      @deandohertygreaser  Před 9 měsíci

      it would only take out the large pieces, the fine bits with stil be suspended in the grease, and wear out the o rings and seals
