Wow! What an amazing mausoleum. The marble sculpture of Robert is just perfection. Their story is incredible and it's a privilege to have seen their decorated lead coffins. The setting is a perfect picture of the 40 shades of green. What a shame that anybody would vandalize a resting place. Thanks Sue.

What an amazing place. The sculpture is so well detailed even down to the slight folds of the pillow. The stained glass windows are beautiful. Most stately homes use a special area or room to store their food such as fruit and vegetables under ground in their cellars. But a few places still have an Ice house to hang meat or store game. I found this very interesting. Would have loved to have seen the house, it would probably have had a small private Chapel in it. Thank you Sue, loved the history of the family. 💕🇦🇺

The craftsmanship and artistry is amazing. This mausoleum goes from one breath catcher to another. She must have loved her father very much and I bet she was quite an interesting lady herself! How lucky ,we get to see inside. And Wow! It was absolutely gorgeous inside too.the carving is exquisite ,so perfectly done .Because it is so protected from the elements ,and peoples fingers it remains in almost pristine condition.I cannot believe some idiots broke in.No doubt thinking there was valuables inside there..They probably did not realise what it was as it does look a bit like a small Keep (these were usually where the family resided ,the most defended part of the castle once the walls were compromised as usually a lot of people would flee into the main rooms as well from the surrounding village.Hence the word Keep It was the last stand for protection for the family and village ).. The ice house is incredible a lot got filled in because they were deep into the ground.Basically it was a large cave they stored things like cheese, butter and fruits and vegetables and meat too as well as some drinks .We have a fairly short season in the U.K. and as the house ( Sue never mentioned could have been large ,they would have had to feed a large staff as well as the family. Also it was normal for high up families to entertain a lot and even receive Royalty at times too.So it was very important to have an ice house.I have included this to help explain things to people who live outside Ireland and the U.K. as we had those at the large houses too..So I hope this helps answer and paints a picture for you ..Thank you Sue this was amazing today .It certainly was a great adventure and I am thrilled we got to see inside too..Love n Light 🥰

Hey Sue, another great video. The mausoleum was fascinating enough from the outside, then to open the door and see the white sculpture firsrt thing, just inside the door blows you away. Such care and details (over the doorways etc), its all so impressive. In addition, its always very moving to see the coffins of those resting here a well. What lives both father and daughter led. Im sure we all felt appreciative and thankful to be able to see scenes inside such a quiet place as this (how did you get the key, btw?) The icehouse was interesting too, and even the forset setting just added to everything. great videos only recently discovered!, Kathleen Ffrench & Rosamond her cousin did not get on,the latter lived (in dire poverty) in Monivea Castle being forbidden by Kathllen to sell anything from the estate eg timber.kathleen decreed that the mausoleum was for her father / herself only hence Rosamonds grave outside .;the house became very run down, had dry rot. kathleen left it to the gov in her will, the house was demolished. on the ice house, in cold winters long ago ice was taken to it (by cart?) from lakes/rivers ,low temps meant it did not melt,it was then taken to the kitchen as needed(hence the ladder?) ,food was rarely,if ever, stored there,. Finally,if you are ever in Galway area again the Trench mausoleum near the much publicised Woodlawn House might be worth a visit.thanks again for these fascinating videos

Thank you, for giving us a great view
of the surrounding woods. Ireland truly is a very beautiful island. The
mausoleum itself is totally awesome, especially the interior,
most especially the statue. The steps going down to the crypt looked tricky, I hope you took
your time going down. The coffins
looked to be in good condition, are
the coffins set upon other crypts?
One coffin looks to be resting on
a marble slab with lettering. The
    icehouse looked interesting.
Thank you Sue and GV for another great walking tour. Have a great day.

Hey, yes the coffins I think are on marble slabs with the names of the Ffrench family, no one else is inside the mausoleum only father and daughter

Amazing what they could achieve in those days,if the old saying is true, that the spirits of the departed remain nearby then I’m sure the squire, his daughter and niece would be looking on probably with curiosity .another excellent presentation.👏👏👍

What a beautiful, peaceful setting. Is true that there are no snakes in Ireland? We could not explore like this in Tennessee without fear of finding a snake, poisonous or not. 🐍 😳😱

Just watched this place today from a page on Facebook called Paranormal Supernatural Investigations Ireland. PS coffins are not made from lead, they are made from Zinc

I know this is wacky but this mausoleum needs a central dehumidifier its so beautiful green moss is overrunning it

    • @SerenitySueGraveyards
      @SerenitySueGraveyards  Před 2 lety

Yes the damp is coming in, they were at the time talking to I believe the Irish heritage or similar that takes time for funds etc to come in and for the mausoleum to get funds ❤
