  • Today we are working on a different type of phone case for one of my viewers. This case is being made from Sepici leather that I purchased from Montana Leather.

That is a very classy phone holder. Love that color and finish.

Robert, this came out just right and using the velcro certainly will save from applying too much pressure on the phone screen.
If I were still wearing blue jeans I would tend to put the metal clip over the inside of the blue jeans making it much easier to get on and save the belt.
Great project which I will do using Wickett and Craig's bridle leather...thinking I will use some leather stamps to come away from the velcro stitching to gussy it up a bit.
At present I am also going to make my own steel rule metal dies using sheet metal vice grips when they come in. I have made a very basic tear drop shape and just duct taped it, works well and will also try using JB Weld instead of the tape. The steel rule is very reasonable and will save me a lot when it comes to custom dies. Steel rule blade (30" x .0937" ) from Etsy costs only $3.00 + shipping.
    Grand video!
    Cheers...Freddie

Sounds like a great plan. I prefer to make as many items that I use as I can.

Another great project walk-through. Glad you remembered your stamp before sending it out. Only thing that came to mind was to maybe make the velcro on the flap a little longer as you were planning for the possibility of a larger phone at some point (how much bigger can they get?!). Thanks for the video and I think I'll add a phone case to my list of projects after watching this.

Stitch the Velcro on and then stitch a piece of leather with your makers mark over it. Could also add small patch with an initial on it. I was thinking you were going to very slightly round the bottom corners also.

I can understand that. I have also started blacksmith work before leather work. I really like blacksmithing but easier to transport leather work seasonally

Robert I really liked you show just how long it takes to make these simple and easy projects. I also liked the way you made adjustments on the fly, showing how organic the creative process is.

Great job and video! One thing though why not round the bottom edges and put one more stitch kinda around that corner, if that makes sense!

    • @InMyBusyLittleShop
      @InMyBusyLittleShop  Před 29 dny +2

I think that you are talking about the bottom corners? You absolutely could do that as well. The back side is rounded. I appreciate your suggestion. I will try that on the next one to see how they compare! Have a great day!

Nice case Robert. I have used magnets on the flap. That can add to the flap design with some imagination. Hope you are enjoying the cooler weather.

I will have to give magnets a try. I guess I’m always afraid to get magnets near electronic items. I’m fair confident that a small magnet will not have an adverse effect. I wonder how to know when it’s to much????

I just saw your other video talking about the edgers, so I found that they are the Ron’s Tools. Are yours the Montana or Round edgers? What is the difference between Montana and Round?

    • @InMyBusyLittleShop

Ok I understood. Maybe I need to try some bigger daubers but the size of ones that I have makes it hard for me to keep from being streaked. If I am making several items the same color I do cut a square of lamb skin to use. Thanks for the suggestion.

@@InMyBusyLittleShop Try those super cheap foam brushes. You can also drop to one glove. Velcro will clog up over time. The one I made for myself won't stay closed but no biggie cause it is a firm fit. get those cheap magnets
