- So far, the second season of HBO's 'Big Little Lies' is fantastic, but the scenes that steal the show are those between Reese Witherspoon & Meryl Streep. Their biting chemistry is a joy to watch (aided by a brilliant script) and both actors are at the top of their game.

How does Streep do it? She isn't just the character, she makes you feel as if she'd been that character her whole life.
She’s simply the greatest actress in the history of film.

I feel like the show is doing a very slow, calculated build up of this pressure cooker between Mary Louise and Madeline.... they’re getting a little more flustered with each interaction. Really great writing. By Episode 7 i expect an all out shade bonanza.
The weird little fidgety thing she does with her necklace at 4:50 is what makes her so great little things like that make it seem so real and adds to her character not many actors would think to do that.
Yes that's why there are actors, and then there's Meryl.

LoserlyCool what amazes me is all of these actors are incredible household names. And somehow all of them have chemistry together. Meryl as a new comer also pairs well with everyone

I love Meryl so much that I am hating her in this character which I think is the intent, she reminds me of her acting in Doubt but definitely with a twist or craziness in the mix .. I am scared on what will happen to my dear characters

Yes, but there is something obnoxiously childish about Mary Louise that the dignified nun did not have. And it's all in the writing, too. It's very eerie, very off-putting. Streep is magnificent in this.

I think so too and this is what makes her look a bit like Perry, the teeth and the mouvement of her mouth, I notice it especially in the last scene. Such amazing attention to detail and pfff, acting altogether!!!
Yes the person who made Malik’s teeth in Bohemian Rhapsody made a partial for Meryl. You have probably noticed that she has a different speech pattern in BLL. And her mouth is shaped different

This is Meryl we haven't seen before, really losing herself in the character and she's brilliant, the wig, the teeth, the voice and mannerisms don't seem calculated, she should win an emmy for this. I tryed to watch the first season but found it slow and not enough bite but now with Meryl's character its now all changed
V R it does start off slow but it picks up SO MUCH. do yourself a favor & catch up !! 🤗
She's always losing herself on every character she played. As a matter of fact, that's how she got discovered; because of her versatility, a chameleon in acting motion.
