In addition to applying a bit of turning force to the wheel, you can also adjust the sound volume with the left scroll wheel when it wants an indication that you're awake. I usually just increase and decrease the volume by one tick to make it happy.

I was thinking, they should just make a dead-mans button instead of using the steering wheel for that. Like they have in trains. Have a button on a position where you can comfortably rest your arm which you have to tap every once in a while.

Hank and Luna have every reason to be excited.
We’ve just finished a 2 week trial of ‘enhanced autopilot’ here in the UK. Most of the roads are a bit tight and crowded for it at the moment, but on the dual carriage ways, the ‘change lanes on indicate’ feature is a Godsend. As that’s the only feature that we’d need (until AP becomes fully autonomous), £3,400 is a bit out of reach. But apart from having to disengage ‘basic autopilot’ to change lane, it is a superb feature to have as standard.
Very clear video...it should become an official ‘instructional’ item.

Knowing next to nothing about Tesla I started out by watching a news special about the autopilot and tragic crashes that occurred. At one point in that program it showed an excerpt from a CZcams video and I thought there must be some interesting videos of people testing out the features. I will tell you after watching that news program and a few others I was totally unsold on the idea of driving a Tesla but your video turned that all around and gave me confidence to have a more positive attitude. For sure there is a learning curve with going from completely manual driving which we have done for over 100 years to using the computer self-assisted or self-driving and when to use each feature, but maybe in the long run it's a more pleasant driving experience.

Thanks Dave. You've answered my biggest question for basic autopilot, as I was fearing how to change lanes without the cruise control being shut off, and the regen braking slowing the Tesla before I can get my foot on the accelerator. I'm glad to see cruise control can be maintained as you signal the turn and drop out of auto steer, maintaining traffic aware cruise speed. I've been asking this question on several autopilot vids, but getting confusing responses, I think, because they assume I have fsd. Tesla, please make enhanced autopilot available again sometime in the future, that would make it perfect for the average driver. One person suggested how to switch between autosteer cruise control and just cruise control, pressing down once on the right gearshift knob.

The centre of the lane is not necessarily the best position to maintain, particularly on bends. AP will instantly deactivate at critical points and drivers will need to expect that to happen at all times, negating the point of AP. FSD remains with the car and does not transfer with the owner. So should you buy another Tesla in future, if you want FSD in it, you’ll need to buy it again.

I just finished a 1,500 mile road trip in my 2021 Model 3. My software version is 2020.47.104, which is old. I found it's most prevalent on two lane roads when approaching the crest of a hill. I only had it happen once on a four lane highway when going under a bridge with a shadow.

Hook to WiFi and upgrade your software, they improve stuff all of the time

@@evdave528 Yes, I have had it connected to my Wi-Fi but I’ve been told that it won’t update until the next software version is pushed to cars. I just have to be patient.
