Hi Tracy, for this recipe it's not necessary to dry out the cornbread cubes (I tested it both ways). The stuffing sill still turn crispy on top, and the inside will be moist and tender. You can certainly add cooked crumbled sausage to the stuffing (delicious!). I hope you enjoy!
Thank you! I had this question as well. 😊 My family likes scoopable, soft dressing (not the kind that’s so dense it’s like a bread pudding), so I’m actually happy to know you can get this consistency without having to dry out the bread!
Hi there! I haven’t tried the cornbread with the egg substitute but I do think it should work! The bread will likely be denser, but it should still work well in the stuffing. Keep me posted!
I made the dressing today.....OMG...it's so good....baked a little in a small dish so I could try it before taking it to dinner tomorrow..... It will be a big hit....thank you. @@FromScratchFast
Let me know if you try the stuffing! Also, if you enjoy the video and feel inspired to hit that thumbs up sign, I’d greatly appreciate it!

You don’t recommend baking the cornbread cubes on a sheet pan before hand to dry it out? This is what’s on the menu with some sausage maybe.
