- Lindsey Stirling stops by the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA, to discuss her book: "The Only Pirate at the Party." She's joined by her sister and co-author, Brooke Passey.
Dancing electronic violinist Lindsey Stirling shares her unconventional journey in an inspiring memoir filled with the energy, persistence, and humor that have helped her successfully pursue a passion outside the box.
A classically trained musician gone rogue, Lindsey Stirling is the epitome of independent, millennial-defined success: after being voted off the set of America’s Got Talent, she went on to amass more than ten million social media fans, record two full-length albums, release multiple hits with billions of CZcams views, and to tour sold-out venues across the world.
This talk was moderated by John Merrifield.

I know this is an older video, but I'm just now catching up. Anyway, just wow! I've followed you awhile on CZcams and always thought you an incredible talent but now that I know your principles I admire you more than ever. Stay true to those principles no matter how much pressure you get from mainstream. God will support and honor you for it! Much respect!
you are so correct as a late arrival myself! Lindsey rocks!!
One of my dreams is to meet the one who has always inspired me with her violin... #Lindsey Stirling, you are so exceptional!!!!!
Here are some quotes I typed out:
"It’s okay to be different. Sometimes feeling different feels a lot like being alone. And it's not like I’ve gone through my life being like, I want to look different, and I want to be different, and I want to be quirky and weird and stand out. A lot of times I feel like every single person is different when we’re true to our authentic selves, and that's okay. It's life. Acceptance is very different from fitting in. Fitting in is changing yourself to fit with what someone else wants you to be and acceptance is being accepted by those you love for who you really are…there are people that understand me…I feel sometimes like I toe the line of two very different worlds. And I’m in the middle, and either side a lot of times can’t understand the other. But...it's okay. Sometimes I do feel like I’m in no man’s land, but there are people that I’ve surrounded myself with that get it, and love that about me, and respect it. And so I’ve just learned over and over again even in these times when I’m like, oh I feel like I’m alone, there are always people that that’s why they love you, is for the things that make you different."
"We're all craving connection, and people reach out in weird ways sometimes for it."
Cute as a button & just an all around amazing woman. Your such an inspiration to so many people. Love to love you & share your talents with new people.
I have this wonderful book, from beloved Lindsey Stirling. Thank you so very much for sharing.
Lindsey ROCKS!!!
I'm a fan of all wonderfully talented people who succeed in spite of the critics and naysayers. Never pay any attention to anyone who hasn't the courage to show their true name and image. $.02

Essa roupa..
When I was studying for Bachelor at the University in 2011 I met Lindsey on CZcams. Meanwhile Devin had such a big advantage. It was a little bit heavy-handed. (;
Wait for the stirling girls to find out about this interview then the comment section will explode. :D
"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?"
- Douglas Adams
I am not religious, but I am not anti-religious either. Those who are always interpret everything in intellectual terms. This misses a major point. A point that Lindsey herself made. Religion is often helpful psychologically. Psychological studies have shown that people of faith are better at dealing with anxiety, stress, depression and generally have a more positive attitude when facing set backs.
Obrigada por me ajudar a salvar o mundo meu amor lindsey todos meus bichinhos mosquitinhos rsrs

Where's DK and Ava?
Get her red, she's for you sair.
I think it's a good idea for Google/CZcams to do interviews with their content-providers like this. Interesting. But, I never did get an explanation of what "The Only Pirate at the Party" means. I get the "differentness" of it, but not the pirate part. What's up with that?
It's in her book. She went to a Peter Pan themed party and dressed up as a pirate since it was a costume she already had for a music video she did. One other person was wearing a tinker bell shirt. Nobody else was in costume. So, it's in reference to that. I hope I told it accurately. For me personally, it speaks to the kinds of sameness that we see where everybody is trying to fit in and be like what is already considered popular, and Lindsey is such a powerful example of being popular for her difference.
She went to a party which she understood was a costume party and she was the only one to come in costume. That is the literal meaning. The metaphorical meaning relates to her individuality.
OK. Thanks.
Lindsey maybe
