I had this faulty hard-drive bug and then solution was to unplug the hard-drive and plug it back in again because I had dropped the console lol
In my experiences, it’s always been fuse f6202 on the bottom of the motherboard.

My PS4 bleeps light goes blue then turns off I have reasonable soldering skills and a microscope but is there any thing you could suggest that I might be able to do to fix it. At the moment I can't afford to send it in for a repair or replace it.

How much in GBP Sterling do you charge for PS4 HDMI port and/or HDMI IC chip replacement, bro? My PS4 is the 1TB 10% more power efficient model with all matte finish and the elongated physical press buttons, not touch press; not launch PS4, and not slim or pro. I've had it since 2015, and the HDMI port and/or IC chip is faulty as I cannot get a display even in safe mode now, before I could - I can get the console to enter safe mode and go through option 1 or 2 blindly with no visual, but the display is just not happening. It's never been opened up. I have had display until yesterday whilst playing God of War and whilst playing the screen turned fuzzy grey and then the signal never returned again, tried many different HDMI cables, and different HDMI ports on the TV, including 3 TVs and I cannot get display out of it now :( - my PS5 displays fine on all the TVs and the HDMI cables all work. I just think the HDMI port or IC chip has succumb to heat death over time.

Merry Christmas mate. It doesn't really matter which way. That whole thing was blown out of proportion to be honest. I just rode the wave lol. Technically it can leak if kept upright but it's doubtful it will happen :)

Can you point us to a exploiting guide somewhere to fix the CE-42118? Cause BwE sells his guide including a dead renesas scenario to transform the PS4 to a digital one and he claims to be the only one to know how to which seems like the case.

Hard drives fail eventually. Depends how good it was made
Yeah as Dominik says, the hard drive will fail eventually. They always do because it's a mechanical part. But a lot of them get dropped or knocked and banged too which can cause issues.
@@dominikdobrotic8298 my Hard drive is still strong considering my original ps4 is 10 years old. i just need to replace the optical drive.
@@TheCod3r mine hasn't failed.... Even though my original PS4 is 10 years old.... i don't play it anymore, i haven't played it for years but it still runs great except for the optical drive which needs replacing. i don't drop my consoles or anything. I'm on PS5.

This is a repair method for error SU-42118-6.
I've seen this before with blown fuses in the Slim and Pro.
But I have never seen the controller/daughter board swap done. Excellent.
However, I think would have served yourself better if the video had a better title.

Computer Booter is the channel for PS3 and ACE Console Repairs in Australia, they do both PS3 and OG XB.
Phil has only tried 1 PS3 I think so far and is more into the modern console repairs from 2005 onwards.
Oh no....I sure hope this isn't the case on my PS4......I don't need more problems to fix ..I need less!

Thanks mate. I'm not against it, but I have to tread carefully when it comes to youtube etc because of their terms of service, and also it's just not worth risking losing my business for the sake of exploiting consoles

I had the exact same problem with my ps4 , my disc drive wasn’t accepting a disc and I couldn’t update the system software , after multiple tries and a new ssd it finnaly worked
At least ms finally admitted the 360 had a red ring of death and then did the right thing!
Really not an issue, i have had only one bad renessance after repairimg thousands of ps4. A bad APU is more common and you dont replace that cause its simply not worth the hassle
I've seen literally stacks of these mate. It really depends on what we get in from customers but in 4 years I've seen at least 20 with renesas failures
The LED strips behind the TV makes the camera focus or zoom go in and out if you watch carefully at the TV's border you see it clearly. I actually had to stop the video and go watch something else because if you look at the video after a while your brains come out through your nose whole. kidding but yeah after a headache I had to switch better watch videos on a solid black background.

Why do you need to pair the drive? With a PS4 you can just stick any old drive in and it will work. Doesn't need to be paired to a specific board. I've done it. Works fine.
Yeah the drive itself isn't paired. The chip on the daughter board is what's paired to the apu
On consoles with glossy HDD covers, the Renesas chip on the drive daughterboard is married to the console. Matte cover PS4 and all Pro/Slim have it on the motherboard instead of the drive. It is impossible to reflash them like on the PS3, so if the chip dies you're SOL.
OR u can put the renesas chip from the working board onto the original daughter board and it will Work......no idea why r u calling this dead.... when u hav so many spare boards lying around..u can charge the customer extra instead of calling this complete dead
the chip is married to the ps4 board , so you can't swap from another ps4
He’s explained so many times. It’s hardware configured to the motherboard and they only work in a pair. If you listen to the vo you’ll learn a lot more.
The chip isn't replaceable. It's hardware locked to the motherboard. The paired components have hardware IDs and must match the original IDs. That's why this is dead. I do wish it was that simple :(

I don't see why you wont offer taking out of sandbox purely to repair. Its not being used for anything but RTR. In reality you're just creating more E Waste.
Because I'm not going to risk being dragged through the courts by the manufacturer just for the sake of a repair. Personally, no, I'm not creating e-waste. That guilty conscience is on the manufacturers. On this job and with every other job, I make it clear to the customer why I won't offer that and what their options are. The board, which I replace, also gets extensively stripped for parts and then recycled in the form of gold recovery when I scrap the boards at an e-waste recycling centre. Believe me, everything I do is preventing e-waste.
@TheCod3r your chance of being dragged through the courts is literally 0, you aren't hosting, you aren't removing the sandbox permanently, technically you're only enabling FSM. You can spout as much as you want but the reality is there.

You say your not into exploiting and I respect that... but isn't changing a disc based system into a digital one also exploiting. After all your getting around a 'security' feature of theirs. There was no reason to make a system have that check but they did and you found a way to exploit parts of it to circumvent it. In the end if your not stealing from them don't your have the right to edit anything you bought. Or maybe it doesn't matter you bought it, anything you buy is not yours. I like that I can change the headlights on my car.
They're not opposed to exploiting consoles. They only avoid doing so because it could risk them losing their business and/or CZcams channel.
