  • Thank you for an inspiring #EarthHour. In the darkest of times, on the night of Earth Hour, people from 190 countries and territories took part digitally and at home in solidarity with people and our planet. We were joined by renowned public figures and celebrities like Justin Trudeau, Greta Thunberg, Antonio Guterres, Amitabh Bachchan, Cat Stevens, Nikita Kering and many more - together, raising our voices for nature - for a better and healthier future for everyone. Join us at earthhour.org/voice

    I participated. I turned off the lights in my house and spread the word. I am happy for being part of it.

    In these difficult days of Humanity, everyone's participation in #Connect2Earth, was a break to think about what are the real values that Nature gives.
    "The Future of the Planet belongs to our Children."

Lekas pulih, bumiku!

    We should have Earth Hour every last day each month, not year. Or perhaps even more effective: WWF should initiate #EarthHour more or less frequently in proportion to the direction the world is heading, according to agreed plans. Yes, it would be annoying as hell, but I believe it's more effective if an authority like WWF were to suddenly "go nuts", seemingly, instead of this nice and comfy approach. And yes, likely, fewer people may turn off their lights as a result, but the small amount of people loyal to the cause, who persistently keep turning off their lights (then keep mentioning it in casual context; in conversations with passing-by colleagues, in classrooms for their pupils, in dole queues, everywhere) - might just compensate for the loss of participants turning off their lights. Combining more frequent #EarthHours with other events is the key: they should be coupled with things like public ceremonies on the streets, partnerships with elementary schools (teachers highlighting the occasions in a learning context), and teaming up with business sectors eg. Google, having them show search page doodle on every occasion, and the direction should not be to look nice and designy, but awful and imminent). Again, there needs to be something more, that backs up the idea of adapted #EarthHours. In a nutshell: awareness is cool, but that's not what's needed any longer; what's needed is MOVEMENT: Accellerated #EarthHours coupled with multiple business partnerships could potentially mean real movement. For comparison: I mean exactly the kind of movement we actually see right now when society scrambles to deal with the #Corona outbreak; How far would awareness take us, now that we're in the midst of the crisis? It's surely needed, but that ain't the primary prescription. We need in your face, impactful movement and WWF should lead it. If we can't have five Greta speeches a day, then, perhaps, at least five #EarthHour each five months, or weeks, give or take depending on government efforts and current climate status? WWF: If you're by any chance reading this, please take this to your heart and consideration. MORE MOVEMENT.

    This seems like the most useless thing ever.

      @JP - 05JD 801513 Ross Drive PS But the saving is irrelevant. It changes nothing. The saving is too small.

      @JP - 05JD 801513 Ross Drive PS That is a different discussion. My only point is, that this event has literally zero impact on anything to do with the environment.

      @JP - 05JD 801513 Ross Drive PS Yes.
      Do you now agree that this event has no impact? This event won't change the climate in any way.

      @JP - 05JD 801513 Ross Drive PS Good question.
