    Thanks for the informative comparison on these machines. I have a Cricut Maker, but want the Portrait for cutting stickers. I like what I've been hearing/reading about the design software and features of the Silouettes. Also now that Cricut is charging for uploads of more than 20 designs per month I think I will switch.

    One thing about the cameo 4 compared to the 3 is that it's so much easier to adjust the roller guides on the four. I have increased my four letter word usage on my 3. When you have arthritis (even younger people have it. ) is hard to adjust.

    I currently really regret buying the cameo 4 instead of the portrait because I realized that I really didn’t need such a big machine reselling it is kinda hard since it has paint splotches (that can be removed) and I also don’t get along with it too well since the cut is just always off .

      Hello! You can definitely use the Portrait for cutting vinyl, and it would be great for making glitter tattoo stencils. I have never tried cutting micron mylar with it, so I can't really comment on that. There are different blades available (for example, the deep cut or kraft blade), but most projects will work with the autoblade you get with the machine. Hope that helps!

    This must’ve taken a while to make, thank you for sharing! For sticker making (sheets and die cuts) which machine do you find the best, as in most accurate in cutting? The silhouette portrait 3 or cameo 3/4? I’ve been having trouble deciding! I’ve heard silhouettes result in less erroneous cuts than the cricut, and I’d love to hear your input!

    • @mandyajel
      @mandyajel Před 3 lety +9

      Both portrait 3 and cameo 4 are amazing for sticker cutting.
      If your only doing sticker sheets printed on A4 and not doing any other crafting that requires larger and thicker materials then go with the portrait 3.
      If your thinking of doing other things as well as print and cut stickers then go with the cameo 4
      Cricuts are amazing but they suck at print and cut. And they can’t cut continuous lengths of vinyl, they can only cut as long as the mat which the biggest is 12 by 24”
      That’s about it really.
      I love my cricuts but I am adding a portrait 3 to my cutting family and hopefully a cameo 4 later on into the new year.

    • @AlexisMiddletonPersiaLou
      @AlexisMiddletonPersiaLou  Před 3 lety +8

      Hi Sidrah! You already got a really good response. I agree if you are mainly going to be using your machine for letter sized or A4 print and cut projects, then I would go with the Portrait 3 because it is more affordable and compact. But if you want to cut fabric or have some more cutting power, then I would recommend the Cameo 4. Definitely check back for Black Friday deals too!

    I'm considering a curio versus a cameo 4. I'm not super interested in cutting vinyl, I would like to cut paper, leather, fabric, felt and clay more. Does the extra force from the cameo 4 make it a better choice for cutting leather? The comparisons I've seen before this are all against the cameo 3, and the curio seemed to do a bit better. Have you ever tried cutting thin rubber printing block or lino on any of the machines? Thanks, and I definitely enjoyed this video

    The 4 seems a little clunky. Like, the door doesn’t slide open smoothly, the cutter on the back looks like it’ll snag, and the roller doesn’t look too secure so the roll may get crooked in the machine and jam.

      Hi! The Portrait 2 was actually my first Portrait, so I don't know much about the Portrait 1. I'm sorry! I know that the 3 has the pop out cut feature (you can read about that here: persialou.com/introducing-the-silhouette-portrait-3-cutting-cardstock-without-a-mat/) and uses the new autoblades, which mean you don't have to manually adjust the blade depth. I also don't think the Portrait 1 has bluetooth capabilities, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
