Just for those that are wondering, yes you can print and cut without a mat. I just did 7 sheets of sticker sheets (an order I had from eBay) and it worked great! I had cricut maker 3 before and even though I liked it a lot I was so frustrated with the limitations they have so I sold it and bought Portrait 4. I am so happy at least for now, that swapped machines. This is a game changer for those small businesses 🎉🙌. With Cricut I will take around 1 hour for 7 sheets of sticker paper but this one took me 20 minutes. Portrait 4 way faster than Cricut !!

Finally! ! ! Someone's reviewed this, thank you, thank you! I've been sat on the fence for a week waiting to pull the trigger on the 4 or go for the 3 that's dropped majorly in price this Month. Wanted to hear it's noise level & see the updated sensor for shiny materials. You're a legend. Thanks again from the UK.

When setting up for cutting without a mat select None under mat on your design page. This will position your blade correctly.

I keep boxes because since we move every 4-6 years for our job (my hubs and I are Pastors in the Army) it’s easier to put things back in boxes and moving it. I have portrait 3 and I'm wondering if I should switch to portrait 4 to avoid having all the reading marks issues... how good do they improve the registration mark reading? What would you say is the error rate comparing with portrait 3? Thanks!

The cut line is misaligned. I have checked the paper size and backing paper. Is there any solution for the slight misalignment of the cut line?

I had a very old portrait. I called portrait 0 cause it was so old. It was def quieter than this one. And I swore this was MANUAL blade. When it made that noise I almost died thinking I had already broken it.
I HATE that it doesn’t come with a manual. And I’m a seasoned silhouette user.
Also in my case I had to reinstall the silhouette studio even tho it was up to date. 🤷🏽♀️ thanks for your video. I had no idea what that tiny little magnetic piece was for.
Would you do a comparison between the Silhouette Portrait 4 and the Cricut Joy Xtra including a comparison of the software ease of use and the subscription options? I am trying to decide between those two machines. I have a cameo 3 and the business edition software and I have the original Cricut joy. I am not sure which of the mid-sized models is for me, yet. I would also love to see the same comparison. I have not been able to find one video comparing them. I would have thought a YT would have made it by now but no. It’s actually not easy to find videos in general on the portrait 4.

I think the Maker is a fantastic machine but Silhouette software is SO good. So much better, however you can use business edition to exports svg’s to cut on the Maker

I didn’t I had it on auto I’m going to try again with no mat 😀
What file type do you use when you create your images? I noticed that if I use the print and cut with a png file it doesn’t come out as crisp unless I print it directly from a pdf print file from canva. So I tried uploading the pdf in studio but still it’s not the same when I’m printing directly.
I use PNG when you save your png file from Canva bring your quality level up before you hit download
what's else can it cut besides stikers, cardstocks? can it cut magnets? please test other material like puff, flock, ...htv thanks

I keep my boxes, I have a scan and cut I really like it but I would also like to have a cricket or a Silhouette not sure which has the better features. I use the Silhouette Studio for my sublimation any suggestion on the best of the two
I'm just getting into the silhouette machines so its still to early for me to say this or that. but I will say you can't go wrong with either one
They’re both good machines. I personally think the biggest difference is in the software as Silhouette software is much more advanced that Cricut Design Space. You can use Silhouette business edition to export svg files to cut on a cricut though if you prefer that brand of machine. cricut male lovely machines (quieter than a Cameo 4 by quite a lot) but both are good and each has their own positives and negatives in my opinion.
Crichton has a smaller cutting area so more leftover material and many stickermakers say it has issues with cutting where it should and not too far in or out when it comes to print and cut
Great tutorial 😊 I believe that for Print&Cut without a mat it is not possible because the grip of the paper is not possible when reading the lower part.
I did cut without mat using the print and cut feature. It does work ! Amazing I could do faster projects !!

Just picked up my machine and keep running into a issue where my the top of my sticker is cut to close and the bottom of my sticker has more offset. Do you know how you would fix that where they would be more even?

Is it possible to get a graphic image printed out and not have to use a cutting machine? Basically a print and heat press on a T-shirt.

Can you write and draw with this machine please? I was so excited to find the Cricut Joy Xtra but read so many bad reviews about the design space and off set cutting that i'm considering the Portrait 4 instead but i need it to write and draw.

I save my boxes at least a year.
My cricut when I try to make stickers wit it it cuts off set itry to calibrate but it just never seems to line up no matter how much I calibrate what going on
I would definitely reach out to Cricut if you have done a calibration because that should fix it.

You don't have to trim the laminate sheet what you can do is put Scotch tape over the corners and that works

Why do they have a monthly plan but than you can't choose it, doesn't make sense they should take that part off because you can't use it 😢.

I have always hated that silhuette has updates, and the old mashine does not work with the new version, i lost all my files on and Update, and they did not help me at all, that was alot on money i lost in files 🤬🤬 so my silhuette is collecting dust in a corner, and my scan n cut does the work now.
Love your videos however, Unsure why anyone would want only 8.5 wide and only do stickers for $200.00. Sorry but no thank you. I got my cricut explorer 2 for less. And it's 11.5 wide.
Thank you! I know someone times we get in our own space so it’s hard to think what might work best for others. The Cricut explore 2 is no longer sold on Cricut and once all remaining stock else where is gone it’s no longer available so the next machine price is $300 and up so this is an affordable way for some people another great example stickers makers Own multiple machines this will take up less space and cheaper once again in the current market. Hope this gives some insight so although the Cricut explore 3 or cameo 5 may be my go to the Cricut xtra or portrait 4 may be someone else’s 😊
