    Something it looks like you guys were playing incorrectly: when you draw cards, you can only draw from the deck. You can't draw from the Meadow unless you have something that specifically tells you to draw from the Meadow.

    • @AllAboardBoardgames
      @AllAboardBoardgames  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Michael. Thank you very much for pointing that out. We missed that rule, but you are absolutely correct. You can only draw from the Meadow if the card or action space specifically says that you can. I hope this didn't ruin your enjoyment of the video.

      That's brilliant Dustin. We're delighted the video helped you out. There is a mistake that we made that I would like to point out just in case - you are not allowed to draw cards from the Meadow unless you get a card or an action that specifically allows you to. Let us know how you get on next time! :)

      We really like Everdell. It looks like it is going to be a short game when you finish the first season, but it scales up suddenly and you find that there is quite a lot to do. For all the cute graphics in the game it is surprisingly deep. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

    • @AllAboardBoardgames
      @AllAboardBoardgames  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Rik77! Yeah, I find that the event cards and special event cards don't really give you enough points to turn your strategy towards them. I tend to focus more on trying to get a card that gives points for the number of common/unique critters/constructions in your city, or go for Prosperity cards.

    I love everdell. My wife and I played it a lot. We love the the game style and complexity, minis and resources build quality, and the artwork is amazing. Can you recommend us what game similar to everdell?

    • @AllAboardBoardgames
      @AllAboardBoardgames  Před 2 lety

      Everdell really is a beautiful game. The artwork is incredible and it is really nice to immerse in that world. As regards games that are similar to Everdell, we really like Stone Age which is also a worker placement game with a nice theme. It is not too difficult but there is still plenty of strategy. Viticulture is also a lovely worker placement game. This time you are planting and harvesting grapes to make wine and then complete orders to sell different types of wine. You might also have a look at Wingspan, which once again has beautiful art, great components and a very nice theme (birdwatching!). Hope this helps!

      Hi there. You are very welcome. Thank you very much for watching. To answer your question, yes, you would need to place a worker to activate the Destination card. Did we miss this? If you let me know a time code I will add it to the Klingon subtitles. Cheers!

      Hi Javier! Thank you very much for the compliment. It really means a lot to us to hear that you guys are enjoying our channel!
      I would absolutely recommend Everdell as a 2-player game. We always play it 2-player and really enjoy it. It does scale somewhat to 2 players as you place less Forest Locations, and the second space found on some of the locations are not available when less than 4 players are playing. We haven't tried the expansions yet, but I have heard some great things about Spirecrest!

      @@caminoentrelaniebla You're very welcome. :-) Everdell really is fun, and looks beautiful on the table! Please note that we did make a mistake in our playthrough - when you draw cards, unless specifically stated, you must draw from the deck. Yes, I had taken a quick look at the rules before watching the playthrough, so I noticed that little mistake regarding drawing cards from the Meadow. This was another good video. Pat, you had some powerful cards in your city! Even with the rule mistake in the way you were drawing cards I enjoyed watching it. The strategy tips at the end were great! I've played Everdell twice and will use your tips in my next game. Where did you get the clear trays you used for the resources?

    • @AllAboardBoardgames
      @AllAboardBoardgames  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Mrs. Jackson! Thanks a lot for your comment. Sorry about our oversight on drawing cards from the Meadow but we're glad you still enjoyed it! I hope the strategy tips can help you out in your next game! The clear trays come from other games - they come with Scythe and Wingspan, both from Stonemaier Games. They're really useful to keep the resources neat!

  • @dancingshade5344
    @dancingshade5344 Před rokem

    Fun playthrough, but you missed many synergies that would extend gameplay.
    Those zero cost cards, in the meadow, would have been useful. The dungeon could have gotten rid of your "fool" card to make something else cheaper, the ruins is actually a good mid game card that allows destruction of a useless contuction for resources and a card. And the evertree can be used to bring in any critter for free, so you could have brought in another critter at the end instead of just ending your game.
    But this video is a year old, so maybe I'm just tootin my own horn. Enjoyed the video.

    • @AllAboardBoardgames

      Hi DancingShade. Thanks a lot for those strategy insights. These are some of the things that make Everdell so great. There is a real depth to the game and lots of great little combos and interactions like that. The Evertree was a big oversight. It would have been nice to bring in a free critter. It's great to get your feedback, and we're glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for your comment!

    nice video. but I was wondering why did you pay for the wife even though you had the farm but didn't pay for the husband? totally ok by the rules btw, I was just wondering

    • @AllAboardBoardgames
      @AllAboardBoardgames  Před 3 lety +5

      Hi Vincent. Thank you for your comment. At 8:14 I played a Wife. At that time I had the Husband in my hand and the Farm was already in my city. Each construction can only give 1 free critter, and because the Husband costs 3 berries, and the Wife costs 2, I paid the berry cost for the Wife and played the Husband for free. I played the Wife first so that when I played the Husband, I would get the free resource for pairing it with a Wife and a Farm.
