    Not bad. Yes I agree it should have a bigger motor. But I like that it's reliable. I also like that it's vertical. And thank you for your time in our US Military.👍🇺🇸

      It’s not a bad machine - it just gets a little old waiting for pressure to build. I’m working on an old craftsman I just acquired that will be the replacement for this one. Thank you for watching 🤘🇺🇸

    Very good review, thank you. We recently bought a similar air compressor, same brand name buy 29 Gal. It was running for one week... only, then the pressure switch got burned 😩 Now I have to get a replacement. Yes... only one week and now it needs maintenance service.

    Good to know how it holds up after a year of use. Where’d you get the after market drain valve?

    • @jimmysgarage9068
      @jimmysgarage9068  Před 10 měsíci +1

      The drain valve is the Merlin brand from Harbor Freight. Typically under $5.

    Just bought one, exactly this model. I work on my cars on the weekends, and some weekday holidays here n there. I've used it about a dozen times so far. So far so good.
    The last time i aired it down i did notice whn it got down to 30 psi it would just stop letting air out. Not sure whats going on. Maybe i need to replace the valve 😳 or, return for another.

    • @jimmysgarage9068
      @jimmysgarage9068  Před měsícem +1

      When you air down it becomes REALLY cold and you may notice ice coming out. Just give it a couple minutes and open the valve again. I’ve seen this a million times. If the valve is open you can also poke it with a thin pick and that should do the trick too. Also you can rock the machine front to back to try to jar the moisture out. I hope that helps.

      @jimmysgarage9068 OUTSTANDING! That's exactly what it was! I let it sit a bit, then re-opened about 1/4 the way and water was coming out. Thank you fir the info. I feel much better about my tank now. 🤙

    can you upgrade the air compressor pump and motor on that specific tank? and if so how would you go about it?

    • @jimmysgarage9068
      @jimmysgarage9068  Před 11 měsíci

      Shirt answer is yes. You can essentially do that with any tank. You’d need to find a pump/motor, then custom fit a bracket that would mount on top. Then you’d have to hook up the air lines. You’d also need a new regulator. It’s cheaper just to buy a bigger machine, honestly.

  • @Herr2Cents
    @Herr2Cents Před 8 měsíci +1

    What size is the regulator? I want to upgrade my 1/4 to 3/8 on my tools and the quick connect.
    I'm trying to understand what will optimize the tools flow rate.
    Thank you

    Bought mine in '21, just normal light duty. This spring now i noticed after it gets up too around 150psi, the motor sounds like its bogging down, has a "hot" smell, and itmakes the light on my breaker flicker. Of course even with the extended warranty, its just barely past. Any thoughts on what my issue may be?

    • @jimmysgarage9068
      @jimmysgarage9068  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Sounds like it’s definitely struggling - mine never did that. Have you checked & cleaned the air filter? Has the tank been drained after use? I’d check to make sure those are good to go & then reassess.

  • @jasonclark6269
    @jasonclark6269 Před 11 měsíci +1

    I'm actually thinking about buying one in a few days. My question is when you said it don't leak, can you fill it up to 175 psi and come back to it in a week or more later and it still have 175psi in it?

    • @jimmysgarage9068
      @jimmysgarage9068  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes. I’ve filled it, used a couple pounds & forgot about it for a few days. Holds all the pressure. But MAKE SURE you drain your tank after each use. You don’t have to let out all the air - but get that moisture out. It’s a good machine - just be patient waiting for it to fill up. Thanks for watching 🇺🇸🤘

      @jasonclark6269 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @jimmysgarage9068 thanks man. I appreciate it. I might actually go on ahead and get it tomorrow. I was just worried about it not holding pressure. I bought a different brand 6gal from them awhile back and wouldn't hold pressure over a day. Thanks for the info.

      @jimmysgarage9068  Před 11 měsíci

      @@jasonclark6269 Definitely switch the drain valve out. They sell a Merlin brand ball valve for like $5. Trust me - totally worth it. 🤘

    How has the regulators held up? I bought a Kobalt compressor, similar size to that McGraw. I LOVE how quiet the kobalt is but the regulators are total junk.

  • @AdamNicholasSievers
    @AdamNicholasSievers Před 5 měsíci +1

    If it had a 5hp motor you'd need a 40amp circuit. As of that point buy a 230v compressor. I think a lot of compressor companies don't go over 1.5hp because that's the maximum you can run on a 15 amp breaker.

    • @jimmysgarage9068
      @jimmysgarage9068  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I rebuilt a 4-gallon machine with a 2HP motor last year. The thing was amazing and built pressure super fast. I’d love to take one of those motors and fashion it on a bigger machine. These newer compressors are all about building them cheap to keep the cost low.

    • @AdamNicholasSievers
      @AdamNicholasSievers Před 5 měsíci

      @@jimmysgarage9068 oh I absolutely agree. I just bought a little 1hp hulk compressor because I was tired of tripping my breaker if the compressor kicked on while I was as running another tool. Ideally I should have it on its own circuit. I'm just to lazy to run new underground lines to the garage.
      Did the math wrong In my head 2hp is the max, you're right.
      My 1.5hp old as hell compressor would still trip it though. Motor probably was drawing a higher than normal load.

      @jimmysgarage9068  Před 6 měsíci

      20 gallon for $150 is great if it’s in good working condition. 135PSI is a bit low for a machine that size, but if it works for you - that’s great! Thanks for watching 🇺🇸🤘

      Another question, it cuts-out @135, after 5min I see the gauge stopped to 120psi, is that related to weak seal at hi pressure?

    • @jimmysgarage9068
      @jimmysgarage9068  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@smile6868 Yes. Spray the fittings with soapy water when the tank is pressurized. You’ll see some bubbles where the leak is. Could just mean the fittings need to be tightened. Good luck! 🤘🇺🇸

    Mine just took a 💩 McGraw 21 Gallon 175 psi Vertical Model. The Electric Motor failed. I 'don't' recommend anyone buy these. In my opinion, they're junk !! Owning mine for about two years. I may use it a half dozen times in a month. Mostly for airing up tires. Sometimes run it with a couple of air tools. But definitely not overworked. Being it was oil free & less maintenance. I gave it a shot. That was a mistake.
