This car brings back so many memories for me, we had one just like it but with manual transmission back in 1982 in Iraq. I wasn't born yet, but my dad got one and kept it until 2005 when we had to leave the country and give the car to someone we know.
I owned the same model crown for 18 months maroon with tan / Brown interior I still rate that car as one of the quietest and smoothest I have ever driven a superb car Toyota hit the nail on the head with this model I never should have sold it 😭
I had one as a loan car from a mechanic once in about 1999, and as I recall it had a very surprising amount of go in it when planting the foot. Am I remembering correctly?

My parents had a LHD 1983 Crown Super Saloon with the 5M single cam carburator engine. White with blue interior. I drove that car till the early 2000's then finally sold it. Last saw it on the road was about 5 years ago.

Back in the mid to late 1980's I had the Automatic transmission model in a gold/bronze colour. It was a beautiful car to drive but a bit thirsty for the juice. I made the costly mistake of hitching a small Caravan trailer to the back and driving around Scotland for a fortnight with the Mrs. Worst holiday break ever. It pissed down nearly every day and I was constantly filling up at petrol stations. I spent a fortune! It was still my pride & joy, though.
This car had an amazing sound system and Air-condition. The rear cool box was very handy and remember that very well when I was a kid. My Uncle had one, and my dad had 1984 model year. These cars are very popular in Iraq and high in demand due to the comfort, and excellent air conditioning system. You need a car with good AC since Iraq is a very hot place to be.

I was a Granada fan in the day, a friend had a Crown same colour,spec and year as this vehicle the equipment was all standard same as my 3 litre GXL but just under a grand cheaper! !! and his spec.was higher!!
This was the year official UK imports of the Crown ceased. Big Japanese cars never really caught on in Britain. Shame that because they were some of the best looking cars around. That said later on the Toyota derived Lexus did well.
This was the dream car in Iraq back in the 80's, especially 1982 and 1985 with manual gearbox...

My Dad had a 1978 Super Saloon, i can honestly say it was the smoothest ride back in the day, felt like a Rolls Royce minus the price tag of course!

1983 model with fuel injection system ? , this car must special to have this kind of technology in 80s! .
I had a toyota Corona Mark II station wagon 1982 with fuel injected 1G-EU engine. Owned it from 1992 to 2007.
