  • Miniature corrugated iron from packaging boxes. Not quite 100:1 scale, but looks pretty good anyway. Tejas corrugados de acero, de cajas de empaques. No es totalmente escala 100:1, pero se ve bien de todos modos.

I made a template out of a wood with grooves in it in which I lay actual aluminum flashing like you buy for roof repairs(,real thin, can cut with regular sewing scissors )and then I form it into the grooves with a little roller I made with a washer,( like a pizza cutter) works well and you can also make all your ridgecap peice as easily.

Great tip on making your corrugated steel overlap. I made cool shipping containers with this corrugated cardboard as well as a garage on my channel. Thanks for the info.

i really needed this idea a few hours before, instead i used sandpaper in tiny strips to make tiles texture and it really took me hours to finish the 3 rooftops os the house.

If you completely saturate the cardboard, like soak it in water, the layers peel apart really nicely, then once it dries again it should still have the corrugation shape. Mayb put some cardboad over top of the corrugation layer while it dries to make sure it stays flat if it warps without any weight on it.

In other videos I've seen they sanded off the paper on one side rather than using your method, have you tried this and if so did it work?

Philip here's one more idea: make it from thin aluminium tubes (from the creme or toothpaste). You just need to make one tool/device : needed nails or piece of thick wire accordingly to size of waves of roofing, and two pieces of wood to mount nails in line with gaps (if 1mm diameter nails - put them every 6mm: 1-6-12-8 for 1 piece of wood and 3-9-15 for opposite piece). Once you made it you can form waves on alluminium: base first piece with nails in flat wood, then put an aluminium above it and after that second nailplate above it, so aluminium is between nails, and push parts down so nails will form waves.

+isddead Hi, I'm from Brazil. Your idea is cool but here I think all the creme's tube are made by plastic. But I'm going to search it. I buid artistic bird houses and I need to make it with quality. My wife is plastic artist and she paint everything for me. In some houses I've used thin trees bark and the result were nice. A hug, thanks and forgive my bad english.

+Wanderson Alves, hi!) If you have no creme's tube made of thin metal (foil) - you can take empty beer cans and heat it on the kitchen stove, so metal will become soft and easy to bend/form, when cool down.

Here in Brazil you could use the ink tubes, i guess its made of that aluminium stuff too.
