Big thank you to all current and past supporters!
I was stationed on the USS TARAWA LHA1 from 1986-89. She was a great ship w/ a compliment of four different helo styles, harrier jump jets, and landing craft. We were the first ship to test the LCAC hover landing craft in 1988. Tarawa was retired and is currently mothballed at Pearl Harbor, HI.
These are very nice ships.
"F-35B is far more capable than the super hornets"
Outside of BVR air combat, the F-35B much less suitable for naval warfare than the superbug. They have significantly worse endurance/range which makes them relatively poor for strike missions, and their high drag means a hypothetical carrier-based tanker will add less range to a flight of F-35Bs than superbugs.
The downtime/maintenance ratio means that using them for DCA is also a bigger logistical strain... The same number of maintainers will become exhausted faster for a smaller number of sorties generated... There's reasons the F-35B is widely considered the worst version of the Joint Strike Fighter.
Huge upgrade for the USMC to go from Harriers to F-35B, but I really doubt we will see China pursue a STOVL fighter to equip light carriers.
If you said the F35C was far more capable than a super hornet, you would probably be right. But the F35B just is kind of a disappointment.
...more "capable" means less payload ? ...when a short take off fighter takes out from an carrier bridge unassisted carry less payload, so in turn can have a less range than an "assisted" launched fighter as new f-18.
...even the gun have to be mounted suplimentary with few rounds in the underbelly middle, if is necessary only.😮
Your comparison is not applicable. The F-35B was not meant to replace the super hornets, it was meant to replace the AV8B. Which it out classes in every category. It was meant to supply CAS and CAP during amphibious assaults, not surface naval warfare
Well said hillbillysceptic!

Eurasia Naval Insight has two channels now??
Your voice is very impressive 🎉🎉🎉
After being repaired by the civilian shipyard in San Diego, they either burn out and are scrapped or after the start of deployment must come back in as the repairs were deficient.
Its USS Makin Island, not Markin.
IF IT "CARRIES" AIRCRAFT IT IS A
AIRCRAFT CARRIER!
Incorrect. It carries more helos than aircraft. And once the well decks are put back into the LHAs they'll have even less flying craft as they'll lose hangar area. So "assault carrier" is the correct terminology.
Look at my channel, there is a USS America LHA-6 game in the Modern Warships game
Its literally designed to carry air crafts in support of the marines, what nonsense are you talking about?
In this time, China navy and US navy fight in the taiwan straits, who will win?
Switzerland
Go Switzerland 😂🤙
@@hansudowolfrahm4856 I have a genetic depression... I'm very tired abd sick person.

That's not fair Switzerland wins every war by default.
Not China
To me this is the stupidest idea the U S Navy came up with. Why put all ones eggs in on basket so IF a get hit, everyone on it is gone instead of using 3 ships mas we did during Vietnam Conflict. The IWO JIMA LPH Helicopter Carrier class ships carried 2100 troops and more on LSD and LST in the ARG's. That way we didn't lose everything at once.
wannabe aircraft carrier in your title points out you have no idea what your talking about. They are purposely built for the roles they carry out. You also mention they are no match for the super carriers with there capabilities. That depends on the role they are carrying out. LHD's are much more capable then super carriers in certain roles.
Stick to your to sims Admiral General Haffaz Aladeen.
chinese copy
The amphibs have their mission and it doesn't come close to that of an aircraft carrier. They wish they could come close to being a wanna-be! They just need to stick to hauling and deploying Marines.
