Born in Kherson, Ukraine in 1989, Sergei Polunin / Сергей Полунин is a Russian ballet dancer. Famous for his "once every hundred years" talent, he has incredulous elevation and impeccable technique. From an early age, he displayed glorious dramatic range. Home videos of him as a small boy improvising to Pavarotti are very foretelling. At age 19, he became the youngest ever male principal dancer with London's Royal Ballet company.
Ballet gained an unprecedented new awareness when he danced in Hozier's viral video "Take Me To Church." People who would never have paid any attention to ballet began to watch the tattooed phenom. He is generally attributed with bringing ballet to the modern common man. Classical, yet cutting edge, Sergei starred in Diesel's "Make Love Not Walls" campaign and has put his mark on many other promotions.
Sergei is a much sought after model and actor. Fashion designers love his breathtaking physique and brooding good looks. He has garnered only positive reviews for his acting. His appearances include Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of the Orient Express, the biographical documentary Dancer, The White Crow, and Red Sparrow.

Wonderful dancing at the service of the story and not just pyrotechnics for the sake of it. Polunin has perfect proportions, flexibility and well developed muscles, an amazing plié for take off and landing and understands leverage, hence his beautiful suspended jump.

Смотря выступление Сергея,невольно приходит мысль: тело танцовщика,это как музыкальный инструмент. Который необходимо каждый раз настраивать. Так и в балете...Сергей бесподобен в классическом балете!!!! Это фантастика всех движений,поз, полетов куда то...за беспредельность...магия волшебства и огромного таланта Сергея!!! Но... Классика резко отличается от того балета,который его интересует на данный момент современного балета,это лично из моего видения...я не специалист,а простой зритель,но который видет разницу всех прыжков,которые становятся менее затяжными,и шпагаты в воздухе,если можно так выразиться, менее идеальными...ведь мы слышали ,что артист не любит тренировки....и довольствуется малым,чтобы держать себя в тонусе танца...Талант Сергей от бога и очень жаль,когда его тело поймет,что можно и просто ,как обычно без "пота* и "крови" танцевать,может однажды не " выстрелит! Очень восхищаюсь этим великолепным танцором и желаю Вам, Сергей Всяческих благ и успехов!!! Это просто мои мысли вслух...Вы же сами говорили,что любое достижение,это огромный труд и упорство!!! Была на "Распутине", и это был великолепный драматический балет. Его давно не интересуют прыжки ради прыжков.
Не надо учить Сергея. Не ваше дело. Он не блюдо в ресторане, которое вы хотите заказать. И дело не в высоте его прыжков и чистоте линий. Дело в желании высказаться и свободе выбора. Иначе бы он успешно работал в Лондоне или любом театре мира...

I am so sad that all those talented, hard working, beautiful dancers are not be able to dance, and that we are not able to go to the theaters to see them. The career of a ballet dancer is so short, one year is a very long period to lose such a precious time. I hope it will be soon finished !

I'm not the Polunin fan some people are but have to admit this is exquisite. What is the ballet with the chessboard-like floor? Did RB resurrect Checkmate?
