honestly just here to spread some love but I gotta say, this has got to be one of the most important CZcams channels for gaming. I've been watching most of your videos for years now. there is a decent amount of games I have played and genuinely enjoyed that I would have never found otherwise. It only stands to reason that that's true for plenty of other people as well, it's truly a beautiful thing of value you've built with this channel, amazing work.
Totally agree this guy is awesome he helped me finding multiple hidden gems which gave me countless hours of fun
I come back every day. I've discovered so many great games through this channel
This is one of my favorite channels for that reason
A thousand times yes. I used to despise indies before him and retromation. I always thought indies were half ass unfinished or lame 1-2 hour plays. I played SO MUCH inscription, replikator, and so many others all because of those 2
Splat is where I find most of the games I get.
Man for a one-person project in early stages this looks super promising. I'm eager to see where it goes.
Looks like another "let's make CDDA but with good graphic", I don't think any of those projects managed to get out of alpha, since it's basically small teams trying to rewrite AAA amount of game. I would caution against enthusiasm.
Never mind, even the creator kinda refers to it as "CDDA mixed with Project Zomboid". Looks very interesting but lacks that community-driven obscenely massive amount of content.
I've spent some time with the game and it is incredibly fun in it's current state. I am very excited to see what's to come.
you can do better? lets see bro @@MrZjadacz
@@uomedievo8325 I did, I made over twenty PRs to CDDA. There is only one king.
Also, I did buy this one sometime when this video got released. Might totally be worth playing in a year or two.
Looks like a real time Neo Scavenger. Pretty cool.
Looks a lot like realtime Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead too.
Exactly. That was my first thought.
Took the words right out of my mouth. I was just about to comment the same thing too lol
Looks like ZERO Sievert with more pixels.
Looks like a cheap copy of Project Zomboid. Pretty uncool.
This 2.5D pixel art is very unique with the smoothness of the animation. I don't think I have seen many games do this to this degree before. very interesting concept.
Art style kind of reminds me of that The Last Stand flash game where you travel through a city to get to a ship.
@@hansknickerbocker9202 yeah, the last stand flash was great fun. their new game the last stand: aftermath is nice as well but it has very different gameplay. Haven't gotten around to try the remastered version of the flash game.
@@hansknickerbocker9202 that was my childhood, that together with the ww1 trench flashgame was great fun. Thanks for the memory reboot.
this thing needs to get multiplayer ASAP im addicted to it i kinda quit call of duty for it haha
The dev picked the right channel to bring this to first, looks really interesting!
Not to mention the updat video down the line that will remind a lot of people who like it, but want to wait for more development.
Early access seems to be happening around the end of March so I'm looking forward to trying it out. Hopefully they fix the performance issues before launch
Looks to me like C:DDA and Project Zomboid had a baby. I really hope this comes out and is as good as I think it can be with the best of both games offered.
What is cdda?
@@cryc0s Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead. It has been a community developed game that has been (and still is) offered for free for many years. It was just released on Steam, but that is only for a little convenience and a wider audience.
@Fedor Silva CDDA is actually way harder I find (and has more options of gameplay)
@Fedor Silva I think your best bet for that sorta game is Zomboid itself with some mods for QOL. Some skills can be changed up from mods like the Journal mod that makes it to where you can save all your skill points even if you die. Makes it a bit easier. C:DDA punishes you more with less information unless you sorta deep dive some guides or forums. But, I personally think C:DDA rewards better than any sandbox zombie game out there. They really make you feel like a badass late game.
This is an incredible solid early build of the game, holy hell. Seeing things like being able to pick up bullet casings to reload and the minor details like the fluid volume in bottles shows that there's a lot of care being put into this.
Thanks for the video, Splat, I honestly think this game would have flown under my radar if it wasn't for this video. This is going right on the wishlist.
EDIT: Splat's profile name is Skooma Steve? That's hilarious.
Yeah, it's basically just Cataclysm haha
Looks like a mix of NEO Scavenger and Zero Sievert
Ooh baby what an endorsement
Perfect for me
Love the look and art direction of the game, can never get enough of pixel-esque styles.
I'm so hungry that i read "I love the cook". I was like: wtf? the cook system?
Thanks for showing off this game - it’s right up my alley so I’ve just wishlisted it and hope to play it soon!!!
I do like the attention to detail with visual updates to your character as you put on more armor and weapons. Immersion is always something I look for in games like this, and seeing in detail how my character model really reflects what they're wearing and equipped with helps a bunch when it comes to being immersed.
Thanks for the video. This definitely helped me to decide to get the game. Would like to mention that I appreciate that you showcase a variety of mechanics which other channels fail to do 👍
выглядит очень круто и стильно, ждем и надеемся на развитие проекта
This channel never disappoints! Every time I'm looking for something new, I always check this channel
This has so many parts from so many games I like. It feels like a fan of all the survival games I enjoy made their own game. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this one as it develops.
this feels like someone heard zomboid was a real time cataclysm and was disappointed so they decided to do it themselves.
You can get in the shipping containers actually.. And it got a lot goods inside... But you need to unlock it first, pity that Matt didn't see it.. Thank you, Matt. :D
This game does so much with the pixel art. Wow. Very creative use. Also the amount of depth and mechanics is pretty insane for a game made by one person. Definitely want to play this.
This channel is a gem for people like us that love this kind of art style in games
Love your channel man , you find so many great games , I usually buy all the games you play lol keep up the great work man!
Looks really cool and interesting!
Thanks for the vid Splat :)
I own a Ruger Blackhawk. It is a .357 revolver but it came with an extra cylinder chambered in 9mm. Sweet gun, highly recommend.
Awesome review! Game looks really good. What a compliment getting priority access on this review!
Where the rocks where the rocks where the rocks at? - SplatterCat
The mech on the left of the splash screen has me intrigued. Will watch!
The game looks awesome, thank you very much for the discovery and the video kind sir!
Bro, it's not even the video content it's the commentary that gets me every time love it makes watching your videos that's more interesting keep up the good work
😂😂😂👍
very excited to play this, and I dont say that about many apocalypse survival types. Looks fantastic especially for early development
Ok, but that Monster Hunter cooking tune @ 19:18. You just earned a new sub, my dude
The colliders on the bushes are so cool for this type of game!
Hammered that wishlist-button. Almost can't wait to give this one a go at release : )
This channel... Not sure wether I love it or hate it. Love the content, but my number of wishlisted titles has gone from single- or barely double- into near triple digits over the last year or so.
Bought it and it’s a BLAST. love the zombie variety, the dynamics, and just how simple it is despite it being a 2.5 bit game. lookin forward to see how the algorithm takes this game.
Def love watching this channel for new goodies
Man I’m actually excited for this! I can’t wait!
Aloha. Loved the show Splat. LOL, i bought half of my games because of what i saw on your show. Love it. And yes loco moco's are da bomb.
I wonder if this is a project by a Cataclysm contributor. The similarities are hard to miss. Pretty cool regardless.
Loved the Monster Hunter music when making the BBQ!
It’s like neoscavenger inventory, CDDA world and interaction with it, and project zomboid pacing and combat. I always felt the crafting and inventory system in project zomboid was a weak point, while the combat was much more satisfying. The inventory in neoscavenger is great. The world and world interaction in CDDA is its strong point. Really seems like this game combines lots of of best elements of all of these popular games
Saw your video on this game, saw it on steam and went ahead and bought it. I love zombie games and indie gaming in general. Your channel is where I go to decide to buy or not.
That inventory idle animation is awesome.
The weapon UI shows your suppressor glowing red hot, that’s a pretty cool detail.
The 29:30 scene, had me spit out my coffee, thanks Splat. ;)
nowadays i do not usually get intrigued by survival games... but this looks really promising and well done.
18:03 favourite moment, 'oh my god! Is that a bear?' Thoc thoc thoc. Real palm and hammer work.
I love the art style and genre of this game.
Worth consideration, that if you upgrade your rig, perhaps test it out on both so we can see the performance differences or you can at least comment on them. For folks with older systems. We appreciate your time man!!
the monster hunter song during the bbq is pure gold🤣🤣
Looks pretty cool. Thanks for showing it off. =)
Dude! This game is wicked-awesome. I want to get in there and play!
CAS stands for Close Air Support. A heli, a gunship, an airstrike, stuff like that
Aw, no demo? I added it to my wishlist, thanks for showing it off, @Splattercat!

Bought the game randomly because I had luck with Zero Seivert.(Phenomenal game) Zed Zone has a loooot of attention to detail. When the dev wraps this up , oh man. It just dropped and in the first fifteen minutes I noticed so many cool things. Totally worth the price of admission
Was just wondering how it compared to Zero Sievert.
@@gleidhold in some ways it’s better. Both are great and pretty much all I’m playing for now
Case in point. Did a run last night and removed bad parts from a vehicle and found the good parts from a vehicle surrounded by mutants, carried the parts back and forth for a few minutes while collecting really cool loot , now I’m driving. ❤️🚗
Silenced revolver is lmao worthy.
The gap between the cylinder and the barrel will let the loud escape.
aye i cant lie it still looks cool
Dev is used to anything being silenceable due to living in a totalitarian surveillance state.
This game actually looks FIRE.
I never watched you before but I subscribed to you because you seem fun on your video
Heavy Neo Scavenger and Zomboid vibes. Love it!
11:38 So, Graveyard Keeper (the most recent example of this unlock system I can think of)
Mixed with STALKER, Sievert, Tarkov, Zomboid... Lots of inspirations here.
Very cool game.
This looks interesting, gonna have to check it out
I love me some project zomboid and man on man I'm already in love with this! Wishlisted already!!
Thanks for showcasing! ^^
pretty cool. thanks for sharing this game
😂I love that up in the corner is a watermark "please do not record or share"
love the monster hunter bbq music nice touch :)
Saw the grid type inventory system and I'm on board. We don't get enough of those nowadays.
no way! i have been waiting for this!
Apparently there is a quick save, very good
Oh Splat! I'm finishing my thesis next week. I'll finally have some free time after a year of almost 0 gaming. Was eager to get back into Zomboid but it seems this game is a must buy for me!
Ooh man i'm into this kind of games, gonna keep an eye on it
Looks like Neo Scavenger and CDDA had a baby except that baby came out with good looking graphics and a useable GUI! I love it!
playing this with friends would be fun
This game is exactly what I want. I hope it will have a main story line within the open world like Neo Scavenger.
Great video as always. 👍🙂
This looks awesome!! Hopefully the dev can stick with it.
Your video is so awesome, the developer is using it in steam page of the game as live stream xD (sorry for bad English, I'm potato.)
This looks...awesome. Almost like Zero Sievert but I like the aesthetic even more.
"where the rocks where the rocks where the rocks at" while walking over rocks lmao
Thanks for the video.
Pretty cool and immersive, and I love the soundtrack!
The animation of the character prepping to swing the axe is... incredibly silly. That moment when he just throws his head back and raises the axe sort of above his head, nope, not like that. That's a high ROI fix right there.
Im very surprised this is the first time ive seen graphics like this
Good showing. I'd call it a beta release - from reading planned features, it's mostly complete and the complicated systems look like they work fine. The bugs could be ironed out without a complete rewrite. I wouldn't stretch to co-op and multiplayer, though. If the dev keeps focused on the single player game loop, it's probably going to be a nice solid experience.
It's coming soon for Steam users had this game wishlisted for a while now.
Another funny Spanish joke that is similar to the "como se dice un zapato en ingles?", is - "cómo se dice diez cacahuates en inglés?" The answer is "ten peanuts." Please forgive the butchering of the Spanish language I am about to do (because I have never seen it written out, only spoken). When someone with a Spanish accent says, "ten peanuts," it sounds like a Spanish slang word, "tempinas." Tempinas is a word that, VERY SUGESTIVELY, means "bend over."
If the joke gets a little over told in your friend group, when someone asks, "cómo se dice diez cacahuates en inglés," you reply, "tu tempinas." "You bend over," in other words.
I think (I had to do some quick research) the actual Spanish root word of the joke is "empinar," which means "to tip up" or "to raise up."
this is halfway between Zero Sievert and Project Zomboid and i like it, can't wait for it to come out
29:43 - Randy Orton with the RKO right out of nowhere!
you remind me of a youtuber i forget his name but i love him
I like how Splat is basically ignoring the top right.
loved the monster hunter bbq spit song while roasting some bear meat hahaha
I just saw this with private lime and I’ve became interested.
Awesome game splattcat
I'm getting a neo scavenger vibe, looks good.
I'm hoping this keeps heading toward CDDA. Would be amazing
I would rather it headed towards CBN, so it stays a game instead of turning into a monotonous misery simulator.
@@JBloodthorn What is CBN?
@@RyanDanielG Cataclysm: Bright Nights, it's a fork from DDA that focuses more on gameplay and being fun.
@@JBloodthornAhhh no shit! I'll have to try it out. thanks
Not gonna lie, this made me want to give Cataclysm another try.
I recommend the Bright Nites mode for CDDA. It prioritizes QoL/Fun over Realism/Simulation. It basically dumps a lot of bloated complexity (freezing, dissections, pockets, fatigue, etc) and adds back in a lot of fun stuff that got removed (late game weapons and bionics). It also adds quests and lore, with the goal of giving the player the option to "win" against the cataclysm similar to Fallout: New Vegas (Quests and NPCs are WIP as usual).
Cuz lets be honest here. If Dwarf Fortress veterans are claiming CDDA has gotten more complex than DF - by ANY metric - it might be time to reign back the runaway train open source development bloat.
Note: Despite the differences in opinion and philosophy between "mainline" CDDA (which is itself a fork of DDA) and BN, there's still cross contribution of QoL and gameplay features across both versions. BN is just a bit slower and more selective about the rate and types of PRs.
@@r3dp9 while the direction of dda has just gone to shit, i cannot abide the removal of pockets. pockets are one of the best features they've added in a long while.
I swear the mutagen containers are a reference to the resident evil movies
Looks ambitious good show
9mm revolvers are actually very common. But not on their own. Usually they're 9mm conversion cylinders for more normal calibers or even blackpowder.
So you just pop out the regular cylinder and slot in the 9mm, and boom plinking on a budget.
That goes on my Steam wishlist.
Ya, you can see CDDA inspiration all over this game. Looks interesting.
I like the plants vs zombies reference😁 this game looks really cool. I will definately check it out when its in EA
Project Zomboid-like game. Love it!
I really hope the endgame of this you can craft or get your own mech
