Numismatic Travesty in Chicago - You Won't Believe This One!!

- Hurt people, hurt coins. When you see what some guy did to the coin in this video, you’ll probably agree that he needs to be tarred and feathered.
My buddy Mike shares his wisdom regarding coin collecting and a shameful practice that was common practice many years ago. Sadly, the victims of this numismatic crime are plentiful and make their way to the light of day from time to time. What can we do but learn from the mistakes of our fathers and vow to never let these atrocities take place again.

Big like number 145! Excellent video and thank you so much for sharing!
Big thanks!
Melt??? A fantastic coin at melt value. Is exactly why Coin collecting is a dead hobby. No one willing pay anything for great coins. Stopped collecting 30 years ago , nothing has changed.
You have to sell the coins yourself to profit.
@@JaseinCaseCollectibles I have never made a profit on coins ever. I have an extensive collection. For example I have some bust half dollars like MS60 and they say they.ve been cleaned. So they set in a safe for the last forty years. along with a 1914D EF40 31S, There is no real buyers out there. They must only want proof coins, and that is really not coin collecting to me. My Coins will go to my grand children. I will not make any attempts to sell them anymore ever.
ouch on the morgan, Love the benny hill clip, ha ha ha . Wow a whole sheet of notes in a slab, what did that cost to grade???
I never knew what whizzed was. I always learn something new on your channel T. Such a shame about that Morgan. Oh my god! Your reference about the chic turning her head! I’m dying. Great video T.
I knew you’d appreciate that one! Lol!
That slabbed gold Mexican peso set sounds more tempting but I bet it would be very pricy especially coming from an establishment like Harlan J Berk. You better off buying that in the secondary market.
Wow. What a bummer about that morgan!! Love that reverse! Nice honest value never fails rounds!!
Agreed! I can’t imagine whizzing a coin!
The Mint has nothing to do with the $2 Sheet! The TREASURY PRINTS BillS! Com' on Man!! LOL
Honest mistake.
always good to see T at a real legit coin shop. stack on !
Thanks for watching!
I have a chain cent. I found it with a metal detector. It's in rough shape but still identifiable. Cool tour of the coin shop.
Very cool!
Cool stuff! This man Mike really knows his stuff and explains it well. Let's see more -- maybe next time without the loud talking in the background.
I’ll try, but it’s a very busy shop.
Really interesting episode T and always watched Benny Hill way back when 😆👍👌
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I had to sneak to watch it.
Thanks for sharing awesome to see that uncut $2 sheet!
You bet!
Nice seeing Mike and hear what he has to teach. This is a very legit numismatic pro. Great stuff. 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it! Mike is the man!
Hi T The Silver Stacker! Thanks, this was very informational! 😎🏆
Glad you enjoyed it!
Always enjoy a visit to Harlan J Berk ! Great shop.
Thanks!!
Wow. T the Silver Stacker, you have to be really careful when buying Morgans. You could be fooled by a dealer who passes it has a $85 to $90 coin and when you re- sell it, you get only around $23. Caveat Emptor - Let the buyer be aware.
Loved the camo shot of the GOLD Peso's! Cool vintage pick ups at the end as well👍👍😊😊
Someday I’ll get a 50 pesos.
The paper notes can be protected with UV glass/plastic. I've seen these in framing studios. if you plan on having prints or scetches located in a sunny location or even if you want an extra layer of protection
Thanks Martin!
That coin shop in downtown Chicago ,has the highest premiums in the city .
Gotta pay those high rents!
And the most amazing pieces you’ll ever find anywhere.
Yes they do it's cheaper in the suburbs coin shops of Chicago.
Another great episode.
Same Bat Time Same Bat Channel.
Thanks again!
Great visit and some interesting pieces!
Glad you enjoyed!
I dont know if i would spend $2,500 for that uncut sheet of $2 bills with consecutive serial numbers. It seems tempting given that they are banknores from the 1920s but not a lot of people have that kind of money. I can understand if you have large disposable income and you have extra money to burn.
Yes. Their clientele has a lot of money.
I'll admit it -- i was very tempted. Two dollar bills are widely believed to be lucky, so that uncut sheet would be super-lucky. It only costs a little more than an ounce of gold, LOL. But the beauty -- the history -- WOW!
Cool video Sir! thanks for sharing
You bet!
Numismatists > stackers
Can’t we all just get along? Lol!
Coins do get damaged easy, wizzing sounds dangerous indeed. I remember i scratched a penny rubbing it on my shirt lol.
Doh!
Ohhhhhh that Mike….
He rocked it in this video! Gave me an excuse to throw in a Benny Hill clip. Ha ha!
The 1928-G $2 notes is from the 1940’s. G is actually the 8th group of the Series!!!!!
Melt for that morgan? Ill pay that all day long! Ill take every single one you have at that price. Lets be real, even wizzed that coin would sell for a 50 dollar bill even if its considered a cull that reverse is just stunning!
Interesting visit!!
Thanks GE!
It pains me when someone cleans or alters a coin LEAVE them original smh
Yes!
This guy’s voice reminds me of David Morgan.
Good morning T’S. Hello Mike.
Morning!
Once again very educational video. DOES T STAND FOR TONY THE STACKER😅
Ha ha! Thanks & no.
I buy uncut currency from the u s mint. It's amazing to see how fast the low denominations of uncut stuff sell out.
Interesting
I feel sad that coin would have been a cool addition to my stack of cool coins I would by it as silver if you wish thanx
Why is a obviously uncut sheet of $2 bills graded as almost uncirculated? Why not the lowest grade of uncirculated?
I guess they got around. Ha ha!
That old 5 cents US piece is a huge rip off. $15,000 Are you kidding me ? Simply outrageous. More than outrageous, ludicrous.
What’s a proper price for that piece?
@@TtheSilverStacker maybe $500 to $1,000 not $15,000
@@goldmaple5290 Feel free to send me a link if you can find one for $500. I think those coins are very cool. Thanks!
@@TtheSilverStackerHow will I have a link for that ? I'm from Canada. I don't know about US coins. $15,000 just seems a lot for that coin. We have similar coins like that in Canada and it is not nearly that expensive.
@@goldmaple5290 But, nobody wants Canadian coins. There’s a huge market for U.S. coins.

Never heard of that.
@@TtheSilverStacker On laser engravers they have a cleaning mode, scrapes of top layers .
I’m glad at least the Morgan is not an Asian knockoff
Ha ha!
You with the Benny Hill, LOL. Butter face, everything looks great on that coin Butter Face. Great Vid T
Yep!
Excellent shit
Thanks!

Are you in the Chicago area?
Yes. Northwest Indiana.
@@TtheSilverStacker yea, I'm down state Illinois/Missouri line, but on the Illinois side....right along the Mighty Mississippi river......where it gets real cold!!!
Too bad you couldn't get him inside his office. Background noise gives folds a headache. Couldn't watch till the end.
Sorry. It’s an active coin shop.
👍🏽🫡👑🪙🏴☠️
Right on!
Very interesting. Thank you T.👍
The background noise is overwhelming. Please consider directional microphones for future shots.
Yes, please.
It’s not melt let’s be real
Call and ask.
Why do we have to listen to other people yapping! Sounds like crap!
It’s shot in a coin shop, not a library.
