It has been a long and ongoing battle for Jo and her family, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer three and a half years ago. After what started as abominable aches and pains, was eventually confirmed by a CT scan to be a mass requiring surgery and to date three rounds of chemotherapy. Helping her son's cope with their mothers illness has been a big part of the journey, but the amount of support she has received from her partner, parents and other family have been significant and helped them all push through and get on with life. Everyone who has ovarian cancer should be tested for BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 and Lynch Syndrome, not just patients who are under forty. All patients are tested here in the USA. Now that you know that you are positive, your sister and your children need to be tested. There are other cancers that be pre-disposed by BRCA 1, including certain cancers in males.
