Friend, I appreciate you taking the time to make and post this video. Saved a couple of hours and some skinned knuckles for sure. Thanks!
Great advice!
This will make it possible for me to charge my battery and save hundreds of dollars paying a bike shop to do it for me.
Again.... Great Information!!
You are a pretty smart guy! I used to run a short charging wire out the positive side of the battery, but it was a major pain, and I found out that I didn't do it on the last battery I installed (another major PIA). That is a great work around! Mine had a big rubber boot on it that sort of camouflaged it, but didn't take too long to figure that out. Thanks again for the great tip!
Thank you and thx for watching.
Awesome, I looked at the battery then said. OK!!!!! Your video was Awesome. Thank you.
Very good!
I hooked a pigtail for a battery tender to the battery when I replaced it, but this is great for those who haven't done so.
You dont know how much this is going to help. My dad and I were trying to figure this out earlier on my bike and as I am the 3rd owner I do not have the manual to figure this out.
yes very helpful video. Got the same bike, and was not looking forward to getting the battery out. I will try this tomorrow when its nicer our. Thanks
I surely thank you for posting this video. As I type this comment I am looking at my Intruder which has a dead battery. I thought that the charger would work when used just like you said but I wasn't sure that it wouldn't hurt anything.
Thanks for the insight Bill 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Yes great tip! Was able to getting it running and to work on time!
Thank you and thx for watching.
Thanks man ive been stumped on charging my battery or removing it keep it up
Thx for watching
Great video, saved me a lot of trouble
+Fred DeVore Thx for watching.
Nice video I never actually thought of that
I built a line with a bracket and terminal that I connected to the battery and installed the bracket terminal on the bike to use to charge the battery. Hook the positive on the terminal and the negative to the brake pedal. Worked great! No more removing the side cover or lowering the battery. Just be sure if you build a terminal to make sure the terminal is insulated with thick rubber so it does not ground out on the bracket. I used a slice off an old fuel line.
Thx for watching.
Thank you for doing this ❤️
It's one way to charge that battery. However, under the fuse box cover, there is a pair of terminals (12VDC and negative), which goes straight to the battery. It has bolts for connecting pigtails, so you could make a permanent setup.
Awesome. I just hooked up my battery tender. This is by far the best and easiest tip. Thanks a lot Nikolai!
Hey, I know you dropped this comment 7 years ago now, however, thanks! I have a Suzuki intruder 800 and I use to charge it the hard way, I found this video and was ecstatic but this comment.. Saved me SOOO many headaches! Thanks, Bill, and Thanks Nikoli!
Thanks, Nikolai. I use your method for putting the battery on a tender without removing it, but could you use that connection to jump-start the bike if you had to? I'd like to create a cable that I could connect to one of those portable jump start batter packs, but I have a feeling that could cause problems. I'm trying to avoid making a permanent connection to the battery since it's such a pain to get to.
very helpful. thank you
Thank you, was very helpfull
Thank you very helpful! I do that now on my boulevard S50 :)
Thank you and thx for watching.
Big help, thanks a ton!
Happy to help. Thx for watching.
hey thanks a ton for posting this video! i could not figure this shit out until i watched this
Thanks.
You are a God.
Thx for watching.
Thank you!
good shortcut !
Thanks, it helps!
Is a positive and negative terminal in the fuse box that you can use to charge two
Thats awesome thanks
thank you very helpful
+Eric Stapleton Thank you & thx for watching.
Thanks, Eric! Can you jumpstart it from there?
👌 Best, motobro!
Hi Bill Eaglerunner. A friend has brought me his 800 intruder for fixing, the problem is that the bikes coils are not connected. I would surely appreciate it, and would be so thankful to you if you could tell me or us what wires go on the positives of the ignition coils.
Can you tell me where the turn signal relay is on an 04 vs 1400? Thanks, Stan
1st time to your channel..1st video =instant subby & fan
Which side am I putting the clamp on? The side with power registering or the other?
Thank you :-)
Thanks man
Thx for watching.
Great tip! Would work if i lived in a house, with a garage. But helpful info.
Say, would i hook it the same way (relay and ground) if i was trying to get a jump with a car?
Did you jump start it this way?
i have a question, i have an intruder that has been sitting since october 2016, went to start it up the other day, with fresh gas, and it wont start, turns over just wont start. any ideas?
Very helpful, indeed. Thank you.
Now how to find that solenoid terminal.... since its not anywhere on the internet or in my manual...
How do you take off that plastic? Or does it just pop off? I got a 99 intruder vs 800. Will it be in the same spot you put yours?
Thanks Bill! Very informative and helps me a whole lot with the 93' Suzuki Intruder 800 I just purchased yesterday. What year is yours? Any tips on a preferred brand replacement?
Thanks; '99
Hey if you still have yours and you're down I'd love to see some videos or if you have some tips on the following.
- removing spark plugs (impossible to get to without moving the gas tank!)
- removing gas tank
- checking fuel lines and filter
- cleaning carbs

@@scienceofsound I don’t have to take the tank off , just the chrome piece around the plugs. 2 bolts each plug.
Thanks Bill, that's a great tip. Any idea if you could try to jumpstart the bike from there too, or just charge?
I'd like to know this too. the wire looks thick enough, but I need another opinion or two before I start a fire.
+Dave Jennings .. Of course you can jump start from there, that IS the STARTER solenoid... then ride the bike while the battery charges...
Just engage the starter from that starter solenoid and ride the motorcycle while the motorcycle charges its own battery...
NOTE: If you use the kickstand while in 1st gear, the engine stops, BUT the headlight stays on! Which will kill the battery in a few minutes!!! Key must also be turned OFF any time engine is not running... to prevent killing battery... and don't leave key in 'taillight on' parking position, either, when storing bike...
How can I get bolt out of position side when nut is spinning I cant get anything in there to hold it in place so I can unscrew the bolt .any ideas? Thought about trying to break the post off with a chisel and a hammer .but I'd rather not.
Yep, I did the same thing. BTW, it's a solenoid, not a silenoid.
And how did you remove that side panel? Seems from my bike you have to remove the seat first, and no signs on how to do that.
Had the bike for a week now, and I already start to hate it. Not very "screw friendly" bike
There should only be a single screw on the bottom of the panel. Once you remove the screw just pull the panel straight out. It’s held in place by two rubber knobs underneath, friction fit.
Nothing to screw on mine for 11 year's but now it begins and yes it's not screw friendly
Can you tell me where on earth you can buy the battery for the vs800? It is next to impossible finding one. I've checked nearly everywhere and when the auto part stores near me looked it up it was showing the wrong battery. Please help!!
The battery warehouse!! It's a company in md and Pennsylvania and the factory battery is called motocross
👌👌🤝
Doesn't your bike have a factory battery charging "pigtail"? Look on the sides around the front of the rear fork...should be on one side or the other.
I have the same setup in my bike, the shot of the under side is exactly like mine. But I have a dead battery and need to replace it, any idea how to get the battery out of that housing?! or Which of the bolts will free it from there?
Thanks
It's been 5 years since you've been ignored .... hope you figured it out my friend. If not ....
Take the battery post bolts out of each side if the battery. It uses a Phillips screwdriver. Then (reference the video here when he goes under the bike. The box has two bolts that you.must take off then the door swings open and down comes the battery so hold the door while taking the last battery out.
When the battery is recharged slide it back in and do the reverse as the removal. Before you screw in the battery posts put some black electrical tape on the screwdriver as you will get a spark every time the screwdriver touches the positive and the battery housing. That there is the tip of the day buddy .... you're welcome. And while you are doing all this work it is wise to purchase and install a battery tender so all you have to do is plug in the tender and it will slow trickle charge your battery between rides or when you store it for the winter.
5 years is too long to get an answer buddy. People shouldn't make videos and ignore their audience. Thanks for watching
@@GlockPunisher1 👍thanks man l could use your knowlegde also
I just put a flat blade screw driver on left side terminal, one screw to get at, ground to any bolt an away we go.
Thx for watching.
Same friend😂
Ey man, you got the electric diagram ?
