    Great advice!
    This will make it possible for me to charge my battery and save hundreds of dollars paying a bike shop to do it for me.
    Again.... Great Information!!

    You are a pretty smart guy! I used to run a short charging wire out the positive side of the battery, but it was a major pain, and I found out that I didn't do it on the last battery I installed (another major PIA). That is a great work around! Mine had a big rubber boot on it that sort of camouflaged it, but didn't take too long to figure that out. Thanks again for the great tip!

    I hooked a pigtail for a battery tender to the battery when I replaced it, but this is great for those who haven't done so.

    I built a line with a bracket and terminal that I connected to the battery and installed the bracket terminal on the bike to use to charge the battery. Hook the positive on the terminal and the negative to the brake pedal. Worked great! No more removing the side cover or lowering the battery. Just be sure if you build a terminal to make sure the terminal is insulated with thick rubber so it does not ground out on the bracket. I used a slice off an old fuel line.

    It's one way to charge that battery. However, under the fuse box cover, there is a pair of terminals (12VDC and negative), which goes straight to the battery. It has bolts for connecting pigtails, so you could make a permanent setup.

      Thanks, Nikolai. I use your method for putting the battery on a tender without removing it, but could you use that connection to jump-start the bike if you had to? I'd like to create a cable that I could connect to one of those portable jump start batter packs, but I have a feeling that could cause problems. I'm trying to avoid making a permanent connection to the battery since it's such a pain to get to.

    • @BuzzLOLOL
      @BuzzLOLOL Před 8 lety +1

      +Dave Jennings .. Of course you can jump start from there, that IS the STARTER solenoid... then ride the bike while the battery charges...

  • @BuzzLOLOL
    @BuzzLOLOL Před 8 lety +4

    Just engage the starter from that starter solenoid and ride the motorcycle while the motorcycle charges its own battery...
    NOTE: If you use the kickstand while in 1st gear, the engine stops, BUT the headlight stays on! Which will kill the battery in a few minutes!!! Key must also be turned OFF any time engine is not running... to prevent killing battery... and don't leave key in 'taillight on' parking position, either, when storing bike...

    And how did you remove that side panel? Seems from my bike you have to remove the seat first, and no signs on how to do that.
    Had the bike for a week now, and I already start to hate it. Not very "screw friendly" bike

    • @777Berzerker777
      @777Berzerker777 Před 3 lety +1

      There should only be a single screw on the bottom of the panel. Once you remove the screw just pull the panel straight out. It’s held in place by two rubber knobs underneath, friction fit.

    • @GlockPunisher1
      @GlockPunisher1 Před 5 lety +3

      It's been 5 years since you've been ignored .... hope you figured it out my friend. If not ....
      Take the battery post bolts out of each side if the battery. It uses a Phillips screwdriver. Then (reference the video here when he goes under the bike. The box has two bolts that you.must take off then the door swings open and down comes the battery so hold the door while taking the last battery out.
      When the battery is recharged slide it back in and do the reverse as the removal. Before you screw in the battery posts put some black electrical tape on the screwdriver as you will get a spark every time the screwdriver touches the positive and the battery housing. That there is the tip of the day buddy .... you're welcome. And while you are doing all this work it is wise to purchase and install a battery tender so all you have to do is plug in the tender and it will slow trickle charge your battery between rides or when you store it for the winter.
      5 years is too long to get an answer buddy. People shouldn't make videos and ignore their audience. Thanks for watching
