1991 Suzuki Intruder 750 No Lights: Battery and Fuse/Circuit Replacement

After replacing the battery on my Suzuki Intruder the lights wouldn't come on. The main circuit was blown and it turned out that I had put the battery in with the cables switched. I flipped the battery and replaced the main circuit. Running great again.

I have a 91 Intruder. I have replaced the battery. It like many others have observed is no fun. Some recommend extra locking washers to keep the vibration from loosening the connection. Thanks so much for sharing the circuit breaker tip.

I've got a 1987 model and a few days after installing heated grips, she just wouldn't start 😢. I checked the battery, the fuel line and the spark plug but all in good working order. Now I'm going to check the fuses because I never thought of that and didn't know where they were.

I am in caithness, scotland have a 91 750 too, also blue, my mate took battery out and when he put it back wecut a plastic milk carton up put that on top of battery to prevent shorting out on frame when putting battery back in bike. Mind you bike carbs all bunged up with off fuel previous owner put in so before i can use it, carbs need to be taken off and cleaned.

I have a 98 intruder 800 myself and love it! Never had an issue with it running til now. It wont start battery is charged, lights come on and it clicks sometimes and other time nothing. It did have a slow start for awhile til i cleaned up all the terminal connections. Im guessing starter but that could prove to be an expensive guess.

Hook up positive terminal first, negative second - if you do this you wont have the issue with arcing ........

Great bike the Suzuki 750 or 800 Intruder. It is the worst motorcycle to replace the Battery. Battery box is corroded so bad that it is difficult to remove it and repair it....Terry

its funny i ran into all of the same issues haha. i did find a better way for the battery thou there is two bolts that drop the entire box so you can hook the battery up without having to work in such a small place. and i also wrapped my wrench in medical tape.
