I believe this is the first recorded performance with their new third member Momometal since she was revealed to be the new member. 'The One' was the last song on the second album in 2016. The Japanese edition of the album has a half and half English-Japanese version, the international edition has the full English version that the girls had challenged themselves to do as a mark of respect and appreciation to the foreign fans who they noticed had been learning Japanese to sing along with them as they toured the world. This is effectively their love letter to the fans (who they also named "THE ONE"). This is an "unfinished" version ie it is stripped back with piano and strings only (also it is very much shortened having just the first verse). The full version is a Prog Metal ballad (if that is a thing), but they also do a version which starts like this with piano and strings - then the drums and guitars all join in half way through. If you didn't already see it, the official video is well worth seeing - that is the Japanese version. Legend S is possibly the best unfinished start going into the full version, Tokyo Dome had the extended full English version, Stairway to Living Legend probably the most emotional 'unfinished' version (a longer version of this one).

But you could say that the "Part 2" of this performance is the future of the new Babymetal. A half-unfinished version was performed at the Legend S concert in December 2017 that started out with just the piano then halfway through launched into the finished version with guitars and drums. Then came "The One - Stairway To Living Legend" version in 2021 with just piano and strings, performed as a farewell as Babymetal went on hiatus. This version for The First Take strips away even more, cutting out a number of verses, leaving only the lines focusing on the band (including Momoko now) and the fans being THE ONE together.
This is the same version we heard at "The One - Stairway To Living Legend " in 2021 when they went on hiatus sealing the group officially and thanking all of us, The One. This one is like a short version of that, hence the "Unfinished Version" title, so highly suggest you to watch that beautiful moment in the official YT place. We're so proud of Momoko, this is actually the second time she's in an official MV as MomoMetal, the first one was in Mirror Mirror a week ago.🍑❤️ Btw they did the same Unfinished Version for Akatsuki live at Legend 1997, it was the only time they performed that version, found the Widescreen version if you want to react coz that's one of the only clips safe without copyright blocked issues. Nice reaction. fan theory time. This is the first released studio recording with Momoko as part of Babymetal. This might be historical. and someday a trivia question for sure. But I think this is why Amuse Babymetals producers stepped in on this one. Most of the rest of the songs released from the new album have not been blocked. But Momoko wasn't on those recordings. At least not that we know of. But I think thats why they have been calling it their 3.5 album. Waiting for Momoko to be an official member to record the next album that pushes Babymetal into their new era. In my head that means maybe early next year we get to hear about a new album coming are way. Babymetal releasing a new album in back-to-back years is unheard of. Will it happen Only Su knows. I think she's been the fox god all along. Megitsune she is indeed. lol
There won't be a follow-up to finish the song. Babymetal have unfinished versions of two songs, Akatsuki and The One. They are done in a stripped down, essentially acoustic or unplugged style. They're called unfinished because the song is literally not finished, not because of the stripped down arrangement. Akatsuki unfinished has Su- not singing the final line of the song. For The One unfinished at a live show they usually go right into the full version with the kamiband and play through to the instrumental ending.
Sounds good but short ( it's more of a chant for a concert) Unfortunately still used a backing track for the chorus vocals. Would have been nice to hear Moa’s and Momoko's live voices. Actually who knows is Momoko's voice was even used (maybe that's why she didn't look happy and Moa was shaking her head lol) But guess the J Pop factory would not allow it.

Copy and pasting this comment of mine because I am lazy: They could have done their choreography in this one, since its just arm/hand movements. Would be better than standing stiff. Sounded beautiful as expected but as on Atarashii Gakko's first First Take: OtonaBuru, they still danced and goofed around. Not that I think BABYMETAL should goof around, just would like some more movement from our girls. Looked beautiful in their new costumes and again sounded beautiful but I wish they would do something a little different. 🤘🦊🤘
