The technique is super easy and turns boring old buttons into something yummy. So if you haven't tried decoupaged buttons before, give them a whirl, they're super easy.

I find that mind bending that it's tomorrow there from my perspective, but for you it's still yesterday here. I've just got in bed and will be getting up half an hour before the time it already is there🙄 Think I just gave myself a headache🤣

Hi you mentioned there are other button decoupaged videos, well this is the first time I have ever seen this idea. So very pretty and very clever. Ugly buttons become ever so beautiful again.
Thanks Sandy☺️ I've round the ones with the Timmy papers more durable. When I make them again I'll give the napkin ones another coat of gel medium when they are completely dry☺️🤗💜
You could cut a bunch of circles and stack them to make it thick like chipboard/wood, then collage it, then punch holes. A faux button lol. Love the TH collage paper! TYFS! New subbie here Michigan USA ❤️🦋💜
That would be amazing Cindy. In fact they would be much better inside journals as you could made them less chunky that the plastic and wood buttons.

You could seal the buttons with another coat of matte medium or whichever glue or adhesive you used to stick the paper. Another option which is a little more expensive is an aerosol acrylic sealer such as Plasticote. I use that one to spray my larger journal covers when I sell them.
Often with the napkins they are already sort of sealed as the adhesive soaks through, if you get what I mean

I always go into the store and go up to the most expensive thing in the store and that’s what I want. Lol. So then I go out and try to make it. I love your floral vintage buttons. They are no longer available in US or UK. I found some others I wanted. They were $22.50 a button! Since I own about a million buttons and napkins I’m going to try this. Yours are gorgeous! Yippeee! Mine actually turned out. I used gloss mod podge so mine have a bit of shine to them but I don’t mind. Gotta get me some more napkins. Have tons of white wooden buttons. I also have a problem buying in bulk. Thank you for sharing.

Cute as a button. I also added some glitter glue on top of napkin and let dry. A shimmery button.

Oh! Julie these are brilliant! Thanks for sharing this cute idea! Could you use your paint brush and a bit of water to take the edges away? Or would that undo the mat medium? Those buttons are probably the same because they were for a dress and not a journal.🤣😂🤣😂 I LOVE that black on that looks like damask! beautiful!

Honestly the idea just came to me because you were using a napkins and when using them on crafts water is the only way of removed the excess. It possible that go ole H2O might not work bc of the mat medium. 😂😂

I use the matte medium on shiny pictures to cut down the shine... Kind of therapeutic painting it on... Lol... And I need therapy 😅 Blessings~~~

I really like the ones that you did the best! The one you paid all the money for are kind of dull and boring. The pink and purple flower ones are my favorite. I get so many ideas from you. You know, this video reminded me of some covered button blank that are about an inch in diameter. I bought them about 50 years ago and never used them. I just did this recently! I was inspired by Luise Heinzl. She did it in one of her videos so I had to try it. I love how they turned out! And I used Collage Pauge, so yes, it does work.

Hi Julie! I LOVE your ideas- & I just remembered, I saw Pam from the Paper Outpost make buttons from book pages. ( Circular punch, glue 3 or 4 together).You could paint them white or just use the napkin backing (1 layer). Using a 1/16" punch for the tiny holes makes it quick if you even want to bother). TY for your wonderful videos 💖 welp, I just heard you talk about making buttons from cardboard 😄

I didn't know about this tendency of "self healing mats"; put a hot drink in a cup on mine. Sigh. It never healed. Nasty lump. Spent ages trying to figure it out. Should have just watched your video first and then I'd have known. If there's a mistake to be made, I'll make it. All of these buttons are lovely, definitely going to give this a try. Also saw one crafting person moisten thumb and forefinger, to lift off the backing tissue on napkins and rub the corner gently. Seemed to work quite well.
