Based on how the overload mechanic is written. It looks like you only get the overload mana when you have multiples of 4 excess mana between waves. You always get 2 per wave regardless how much you leave, and 1 extra per multiple of 4. So, if you leave 5 you would get 2+1 and have 8 next round.
This is correct, it is something I parse by the end of the episode!
i think draw card is really important, since you could get 3star wayy faster

I love these videos where Retro takes the entire run to understand a mechanic of the game and I have to hold myself from typing anything about it until I'm finished watching the video.
Self-restraint is a good skill to practice
The card that summons 3 non-basic turrets leads to _so_ many game breaking opportunities, it's amazing.

Guardian angel is broken once you get the trinket that lets you redraw your hand for 1 mana. With just that card and relic you can have infinite mana because the Guardian Angel sells for 5, 15, 45 and levels 1, 2, and 3 but costs 2 less for every damage you take. With that setup you can have 20 level 3 towers by your 3rd or 4th round.
I'm also very glad that this is being made into a series! I know we are in for quite a blast.

It's worth it getting one very strong tower early in a level, them relying on it for a few rounds, building up lots of bonus mana, and then building more of those powerful, expensive towers

Omg, it took me so long to understand how mana works.
My brain automatically assumed that mana gets reset after every turn, like all of the other deckbuilders, and not retained, like all of the other tower-defense games.
Now that I get it, I'm even more into it!

I just got it and binged it. I found that 0 cost decks seem to be OP as all shit. I have a deck with scrap recyckler and spike throwers and lots of cards that cycle the deck. Then one BF rifle for scaling damage.
Also the riftmakers seems to be a must get.
This game is amazing
I love that you can sell towers for 1 to get to 4 mana, and you can even use cards that give you mana at the end of a wave if you know youll be alright and it gets you to 4 or 8.
