    I can definitely understand banning completely broken drift "missiles". There is a difference between a proper drift missile and a goddamn piece of junk that is a safety hazard to everyone on the track. Some of the cars look so broken that it wouldn't be surprising to see parts fall off onto the track from those. Some damage here and there is to be expected, even some pretty serious bent rear ends, but if it looks like its going to fall apart any second, it is definitely better to just keep those cars out of action or just drift privately someplace else.

    • @neversurrender5798
      @neversurrender5798 Před 7 lety +4

      I honestly don't really know what these drivers were doing to get the car in that bad of a condition. Like the cars with a completely smashed in trunk to me speaks of poor if not outright reckless driving.
      And I've seen that even outside of Japan, people almost want to wreck out and act like it's a demo derby because "Huehue missile has another dent/bumper is more broken so much drift cred not gunna try and zip tie it so it doesn't fall off, looks cooler"

    • @12345656012
      @12345656012 Před 7 lety +3

      It has to be the "I don't care, I wasn't even trying" angle. much like these "no F**ks given" builds that are just by guys that couldnt do a good job if they tried.

    • @neversurrender5798
      @neversurrender5798 Před 7 lety +5

      Though the people building the no fucks given cars have honestly forgotten what no fucks given means. No fucks given in terms of the original car (Corbin's RX-7) meant doing things the easiest/cheapest way to do it and he's kept that spirit across his other builds.
      Like that miata with the center exit exhaust that took him fuck only knows how many hours along with the fact he has hundreds of hours on the build, that's giving maaany fucks.
      No fucks given is a car with shitty paint, whatever wheels that do the job the cheapest, a mismatched body panel because you didn't feel like repainting the new one and a fast as fuck engine because that's what you should focus on.
      Not some cambered out show car.

    Love the studio style. Excellent progression of the channel. What I really liked from the previous video of the Tokyo drift event is that you toured the entire show car parking lot. I loved it as it is a really great way to see what style and art car enthusiasts are exhibiting today. Even with the longer runtime, it is still entertaining and I didn't even notice how long it was. I love all the drifting action, but the eye on style and art is equally valuable. Thank you for your awesome channel, and keep up the amazing work!

    Is it true the local japanese hate PV? I got told that they're bottlenecking the market and way over charging for cars that are considered junk in japan? Also got told they stop other facilities from coming to the track? Will be driving ebisu in october and organising my own car etc. PV will never get a cent of my money.

    • @xXBrownBoy12Xx

    • @Joel_Harris
      @Joel_Harris Před 7 lety +1

      Apparently it's what happens behind closed doors, PV is single handedly ruining the scene at ebsiu

    • @OffBeatGarage
      @OffBeatGarage Před 7 lety +38

      1. Idk about the japanese hating PV.
      2. But anyways they're definitely not overcharging. You arrange a car by email, show up, and within 10 minutes you're in a drift ready car ready to go hit the track. And if you need anything from them they will go out of their way to help you and are super nice.
      3. As far as stopping other facilities from coming to the track I haven't heard of that. I do know that non PV customers complain though because they'll show up with bare minimum tools, no tire changer, compressor, spare parts etc. and then ask PV to use their tire changer, compressor, spare parts and PV will deny them because PV needs to make sure they have parts and tire changers etc. available to their own customers. And then the non PV people feel offended for whatever reason which doesn't make sense. (I saw this first hand with multiple people)
      4. As far as you organizing your own car best of luck with that. From what I saw/heard over there that was always a disaster for the people having the cars arranged by 3rd party people. Cars weren't up to par, needed a handful of work, and they were short handed on parts. Once you're over there and have no access to tire changer and support from PV you quickly regret your decision for not going with PV.
      5. You should meet Andy and Emily of PV in person before bad mouthing and being salty towards a group of people that go out of their way to help their customers and make sure they have the best possible time at the track. Definitely worth every cent. When I was there, Aaron's clutch went out at the track and the mechanics at PV made sure to work late into the night to have a new clutch in the car and have the car ready by morning so he wouldn't miss any driving. They charged 59,000jpy or a little less i forget for doing that which was great and he didn't miss any track time. Had he not gone with PV that would have been a disaster and he would've lost tons of track time. And realizing that on a 2 week trip with all things accounted for, each day ranges from $300-$500 to be there. So when you spend even a day not out there drifting and instead fixing your car or dealing with issues like not having a tire changer you're throwing away money.
      Anyways that's just my 2 cents for spending 10 days at ebisu and total 14 days in japan and being there during the matsuri. So I know I don't have a great deal of experience over there but that's my view on it.

      This is not true at all,
      Nihonmatsu is by japanese standards a small rural town and the locals benefit massively from the service that PV offer.
      50 - 100 foreigners turn up 3 times a year injecting a butt load of cash into the local economy. I personally have had nothing but awesome experiences with the locals, they're stoked on the fact we're willing to travel half way around the world to drift at Ebisu.
      As for the cars the simple fact is that they are running out, Now that America can import a lot of the cheaper cars, s13s s14s r32s, r33 etc the prices at auction have skyrocketed, a few years ago drift cars in japan were cheap and plentiful but unfortunately its not really the case anymore.
      I have seen it so many times, guys thinking they'll save money buying a car privately and instantly regretting it. if you just need a nut, a bolt, some tool that you don't have, an insignificant or significant part that you need to keep your car running. you'll waste hours sometimes days of your trip for something that would have been instantly available to you.
      When you're at Ebisu in october you will understand.

    that's fullish because beginners on drifting some of them can't afford cars in excellent conditions so they bought drift missile so they can practice and learn how to drift and they learn to install parts and if they crash they don't need to repair it(depends on how much damage is done to the car or the part of the car) so if the car crash and it's totaled then get another drift missile

    honestly these missiles are out of control, may as well take a chassis with wheels out there, especially the gaijins driving out there, it takes the flair, style, and diminishes the sport from a spectator point of view. what happened to taking pride in your drift car

    With a lot of people going the podcast route I think this simple format works for you. The green screen keeps the wandering eye entertained and there isn't too. Maybe it could be longer, but I have no idea if people would watch it all the way through (because I haven't seen the YT data)
