    For those watching, Color Oops removes the color to it's natural state only if you have never used bleach. If you have bleached your hair, it will take your hair to that shade of blonde/lightened hair, as bleach strips pigment. There is no more natural pigment to return to. This includes lifting colors (like most reds) that actually have bleach in them. For example, if you have a box of red hair color that says it works for dark hair, that means it has bleach in it.
    Something to be aware of :)

    If you use this again, begin at the end shafts of the hair and do your mid shafts and regrowth within the last five minutes. If you have regrowth of your natural hair color, don't even use it on them or it will lighten to a very bright yellow blonde. The reason for starting at the ends is because they have the most color build up from over the years and will take the longest to lift. :)

  • @vellamour
    @vellamour Před 8 lety +17

    The reason it went coppery is because you probably have cuticle staining from when your hair was already reddish and every time you dye your hair with permanent dye, you have to use a developer which lightens your hair (even if you're dying it black), and since you can't color remove lightened hair, that's how it shows. :) I'm glad it worked so well for you!

  • @elidanavarro5924
    @elidanavarro5924 Před 3 lety +5

    You have to apply it evenly in sections, then comb each section and spread with fingers from root to tips.... applying it evenly is the key to its success. then wash with dandruff shampoo... 4x, and keep rinsing for 20 to 30 mins..and then finally do a good protein conditioner or mask. You may have to redo this to get even lighter.

  • @AliciaSanchez-pq2kk
    @AliciaSanchez-pq2kk Před 3 lety

    When using color oops did you rise with water while rubbing your hair to get the color off or did you just let the water run on your hair to rinse it off?

  • @Melyzuh

    If you have blonde in your hair , do you recommend using this product because what I can see from, it gets lighter. I wanna remove it because afterwards I'm thinking of getting highlights. 😬

  • @rosieton7183
    @rosieton7183 Před 6 lety +2

    the light roots aren't from the color remover but from the black dye. If you used 20 vol or higher and apply the color directly all over your hair the root will lighten naturally from the heat on your scalp and now that the pigment is removed its showing up.

    Your hair looks great! The same thing happened to me, to some extent. I used a colour that said medium brown which turned my hair nearly black. I used the Color Oops and I guess the heat near my scalp made it lighten the root area a lot more than the rest of my hair. My roots went bright blond though and the rest of my hair went orange. I couldn't even leave the house, lol.

I have always used the same hair color for yrs and loved it but went to the store and picked up by mistake and used dark brown instead of my normal medium light brown of nice and easy which turned my hair jet black then ran and bought this product and it did work but much like your hair of have red pathy areas but I plan to recolor my hair in a few days black to the shade I always use light brown which on me is medium brown. It did take the black shade out so Im happy and ready to start over in a few days

    I know this is a very old video, but for anyone trying this in the future, I have tips for the best possible outcome. Start on the lengths and work your way up, do not put on virgin hair. Do not leave in past 20 minutes, or your hair will start darkening again as it reabsorbs the pigments that were released. Don't skimp on the rinsing, or your hair could reabsorb the pigments that were not rinsed out. If you dye your hair after, choose a lighter shade than you want, because your hair is gonna suck that colour right up. Follow the directions exactly.

      You have to wait at least 2 weeks for the color to be completely removed from your hair (which happens during rinsing). So if you're gonna do it again, do color remover, wait a while, and then try dyeing it.

    Hi there,Thank you for sharing, I have a question for Belinda or any other good samaritan: I also had black hair, just like you, I applied oops twice the same day, it went to a medium brown kind of redish, then I used a protein filler and according to the oops directions you can dye your hair the same day, so I did and used a light blonde, oh surprise, it went back to black!!!!! very frustrating and stinky result.. can you tell me what do you think I did wrong?

    • @belindas134
      @belindas134  Před 9 lety

      That's strange. I'm not sure why it went back to black... I didn't dye my hair after applying the product though. I'd check on the box and call the customer service hotline. They will probably be able to help you.

      Thank you for your response, I read again directions and did some research too, and I should use temporary color after oops,no more than 5 minutes and never permanent color and of course a lighter shade..... oops works good but after that this tricky....

    I have black hair, if I try this will it affect my roots as bad? Like will it turn orange?

    • @belindas134

      Teresa Padilla I don't think so. I think it's because of the red I had in my hair underneath the black. let me know how it turns out!!

    So I had black hair and I've already bleached it about two times now and its already red/coppery and I just bought color oops do you think that it will bring out the rest of the red color? or pointless even trying? 😂

    Hi Belinda, Color oops works well in all kinds of hair? I don't have a lot of hair, a couple of months ago I dyed my hair with color touch and the result was terrible, because my hair was so dark, and my hair used to be cendre blondie. My root is white, I'm 51y.o. if I use this product, Can I dye my hair in the same day?

      Rose Almeida did you get a response to this question or have you gone ahead and tried this. I am also in the same boat as you with the white roots and darker color. I have't found an answer on anyone who has tried it with the white/grey roots. Any info would help so much.

      Hi Rose Clark, I didn't because I was afraid that my hair would get worse than it was a few days ago. But I bought a good brand mark Color Hair called CLAIROL and worked, the product covered the gray hair and I liked so much.

      +Master Pug thank you. She did try it twice and lifted her hair color a few shades lighter. But after a few days her hair became darker again. I ended up bringing her to the salon $400 later and the black hair dye is finally out. Lol But Yay to her still having her beautiful healthy hair.

    • @susanwyatt7415
      @susanwyatt7415 Před 8 lety

      +Penny T it went darker because the hair rinse process wasn't done correct. It has to rinse exactly like it says on the box.

    • @susanwyatt7415
      @susanwyatt7415 Před 8 lety

      +Penny T Q. When I used Color Oops at first it took all of the color out. When I washed my hair the next day, the color returned. Why did this happen and how can I fix this?
      A. Hair color has small clear intermediates. When these intermediates are oxidized with the developer they penetrate the hair shaft and swell and are oxidized into large colorful pigments. Color Oops reverses this process. It shrinks the pigments back to small clear intermediates. However, they are still in the hair. The rinsing process washes them from the hair. It is essential to shampoo and rinse thoroughly. The longer, the better. If some of the intermediates are still in the hair they can re-oxidize and show color again.

    Loved your video! My hair is not black but is dark brown and my regrowth at roots is gray, yeah I am an older gal. I was wondering does it get hot as it lifts the color? I would like to give it a try but am a little nervous. I haven't found a video by anyone using this product on hair that has gray roots, how it would be affected. Thanks for sharing your experience!

      Hey Mountain Girl and Rose Krauss!! Did either of you try this yet? It's March 12, 2018, and as of today there is still no review of Color Oops by anyone with grey roots!! I have 6" of grey roots (haven't dyed my hair in a year) and I'm typing this while looking at my just acquired box of of Color Oops sitting on my desk, wondering what the outcome might be. I've been coloring my hair for 15 years, so other than grey roots, my hair is (faded) dark red (the upper layers) and (faded) black (the bottom layers). I hope one of you has good news to report, because I'm doing this tomorrow!

      Dallas Russell how did you get on? I have dark hair, grey roots and I only use the remover p to root line .. the grey shouldn't really change but can sometimes go brassy, fine after toning/colouring ... But put toner/colour to roots first leave 5mins then apply to rest of hair .. leave up to 30mins

      Shaz the Cornish pixie - I did 2 Color Oops treatments last month. The 1st one I did all of my hair including the grey and it did not alter the grey at all. The 2nd treatment I only put on the previously colored hair and overlapped it on the bottom 1" of the gray, and again it did not alter the grey at all. Thanks for your feedback!

      Dallas Russell I have very grey white roots. I used my second box of color oops today. I ha e 8 years of black dye in my hair and 2 months of grey roots. So, the end result was my hair is grey, red and black. It did not work on the majority of my hair from the top of the ears down. Didn't effect the roots. Turned the other top part pale red.

    the reason your roots are lighter is because they are close to Virgin hair than the rest

    • @lania3717
      @lania3717 Před 5 lety +2

      Color oops doesn't touch natural hair color. The reason why her roots are lighter is because she recently dyed her hair red and red was lighter than her natural color so the developer lightened her roots.
