  • Clear Brook sophomore Sarvesh Subramanian spent his summer and the first semester of his school year visualizing a more efficient and more accurate way to predict climate change. As an Indian-American with roots in the state of Kerala, he witnessed his home ravaged by the worst flooding in human history as a result of climate change. He then took action in the best way he knew. A life-long computer geek and kid with a penchant for research, he spent months figuring out how to write a neural network. In his presentation, Sarvesh discusses the end results of his endeavors and the importance of his research to both the scientific community and the world as a whole. Sarvesh Subramanian is a 16-year-old sophomore at Clear Brook High School, involved in many extracurricular and academic activities around the school. To satisfy his scientific side, he is involved in Science Fair and the Computer Science Team and is accelerated in his math courses. As a kid who always talked too much, Sarvesh took to debate in high school, and spends a lot of his weekends arguing with other like-minded teens. He is also involved in Model UN and JSA, two political clubs that allow him to express his opinions academically. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

    In high school, I personally debated Sarvesh twice when he was a freshman and I was a senior and have judged him recently. He is absolutley one of the smartest and most personable people I have met. Seeing this, I continue to be astounded by his devotion to things and people he cares about as well as his extrempley hard work. I can't wait to see what he will do in the future.

If you had listened carefully, he developed a software which can predict where the disaster can hit in 30-40 years. Where is the app? Is it available on Google Play? You missed some major inputs as far as climate change like methane, ice melt in the arctic, greenland, and antarctica. There is much data available and it would be good to include as much as possible. As it stands right now there are scientists that say there will be NO livinng thing on this planet by 2030m and humans will be gone before then as we lose habitat and our ability to grow food. Awesome work .. very commendable that you were able to create this at all.

    We learned nothing here! What were the inputs being measured & how does it impact the environment on a molecular level? That would be real science. If there is any real danger what can be done by us to manipulate weather patterns? Empty speech, waste of time, non scientific. I guess the earth 🌎 is also flat & atoms can’t be split.😖🧐

    • @sarveshsubramanian9030
      @sarveshsubramanian9030 Před 5 lety +3

      Hey, I’m the guy from the video. If you reply to me, I can go more in depth about how the inputs were measured, but I’m a bit confused by “molecular level”. The processes that happened as a result of climate change, such as disease and death, are the human impacts that I talk about. My network is measuring how climate change affects *humans*. Could you elaborate on what you mean by “molecular level”?

    • @Ath1337isDerek
      @Ath1337isDerek Před 5 lety

      The nonscientific claim that puny man has a significant enough of a contribution to the natural environment which adversely impacts climate without acknowledging that there is an enormous nonhuman carbon contribution from plants 🌱& animals which isn’t even a scientifically reliable factor bc of the lack of demonstrative laboratory empirical experimentation. Keep in mind we haven’t even included the enormity of solar influence through solar flares, sun spots, etc. A single volcano🌋 has a carbon contribution that far surpasses any industrial 🏭 output much less an entire chain of volcanoes which earth has survived as we have several archipelagos as an example. Data is only valuable if it has every contributing value in its model. The current religious frenzy of climate profession without an empirical scientific model is a perfect example of where the arena of science has been abandoned for the arena of speculation which is heavily funded through confiscatory taxation & perpetuated by the recipients of large portions of these benevolent tax dollars maintaining this alarmism which constantly falls apart & resurfaces under new titles crying the sky is falling in order to keep their wallets loaded.
