- replacing thermostat on the festiva is the same as most any other liquid cooled engine, with the exception, most thermostats install vertically but this one installs horizontally, in which case the thermostat can slip out of position during installation. I went into detail on how to avoid this problem on this video and also how to test the thermostat. " Like" and Subscribe for more "do it yourself videos"
Best description of this I have ever seen! Thanks so much ... I am going to have to do this at some point soon ... looks like the temp sensor is right there, too ...
Excellent video! It made changing the thermostat a walk in the park for me. Thanks a lot.

Thankyou My Friend
thank you for this video :)
Any time!
shouldnt the OE thermostat have a dual port setup?
Thanks for the video mate, time to get my hands dirty. I did my skyline awhile back, it has an air bleed valve, doesnt the festiva have a air bleed for when refilling with coolant?
Most cars don't have an air bleed, I just squeeze the radiator hose to push more air out.
Would this be about the same as a 90 year model?
Yes. Thanks for watching.
Super Glue It
Hey man my Dad has a 1988 ford festiva and its overheating in 7-13 minutes of ruining I don't know driving or at idle because its been sitting for 3 or 4 years and I want to fix it for him he thinks it the headgaskit I think its the thermostat do these cars have a problem with the thermostat or is it the headgaskit? I liked the video thanks for the video too
I don't know sir. It could be thermostat, collapsed hose, radiator, air trapped in the cooling system, catalytic converter or other possibilities. Thanks for watching.
